Guild Management tools is very early in development. I am creating this forum thread since i am getting requests for support already.
This is partially my fault since i tagged some commits as beta before understanding what that meant in the WoWAce world.
This addon is currently not supported since the released versions don't really do anything (visibly) yet.
This addon will be a tool for organizing and maintaining guilds.
Features will be divided into 4 categories/tabs:
Bank Tools
[alphalist=a]
Guild Log Manager
In game bank contents display
In game bank item request system
Guild bank organizer - sorting tool for the guild bank
Guild Loan Manager
[/alphalist]
Roster Tools
[alphalist=a]
Event tracking (joins, leaves)
Notes log/change log
[/alphalist]
Member Tools
[alphalist=a]
Guild Ads. This feature will allow guildies to post ads for materials needed, crafting needed and have the ads propagated to all guild members.
Craft List. Advertise crafts and recipes to guild members
Guild Greetings. Logs guild members coming online or leveling to remind you to greet or gratz them
Guild Map. Display guild members positions on the world map/minimap. (this is a low priority. not even sure why i included it)
Guild Help System. Allow members to post requests for help in game without having to flood guild chat.
[/alphalist]
Officer Tools
[alphalist=a]
EPGP. Effort Points/Gear Points Manager. This will provide an in-game interface to manage the EPGP system. Will provide export capabilities, or at least a documented API for importing into a website DKP system
Guild Mailing List. Will allow you to send in-game mail to lists of people.
Main/Alt Management. Allow members and officers to set their main and alt characters and share that information across clients.
In game blacklist with reasons. Also tracks departed members and you can note the circustances
Rank manager
[/alphalist]
Miscellaneous
[alphalist=a]
Chat Time Stamps. Insert current time before messages as they are added in the chat frame.
Guild Lotto. This feature will manage a guild lotto. This is an excellent way of having some fun in the guild while making a little gold for the guild bank as well
Guild Calendar. This feature is planned but is on hold pending an evaluation on integration with recent changes to the in-game calendar.
Guild Alliances Support
Automated Recruitment System. Guild Master will be able to set recruitment messages and rules. Members can then enable recruiting and addon will automatically spam according to guild rules.
4. Officer Tools
a. Effort Points/Gear Points Manager - This will provide an in-game interface to manage the EPGP system. Will provide export capabilities, or at least a documented API for importing into a website DKP system
b. Guild Mailing List - Will allow you to send in-game mail to lists of people.
c. Main/Alt Management - Allow members and officers to set their main and alt characters and share that information across clients.
d. In game blacklist with reasons. Also tracks departed members and you can note the circustances
e. Rank addition/removal migration tool.
Nothing like having to add a new rank and hand-re-rank 200 toons because Blizzard failed at implementing this properly. May not be worth the effort required, though. :)
I would like to test this for you. I am the #2 person in our guild, Jaded Edge, on Korialstrasz server. Our Guild Master is Lilloopy/Loops. What do we need to do to get on the list of testers?
Currently, I've been messing around with GuildAds. While I like it for the most part, I see areas where it could be improved (some of which I see you have on your list).
I would say that "Chat Time Stamps. Insert current time before messages as they are added in the chat frame." seems better left to a chat addon to me though, if I'm understanding this correctly. Especially since most seem to already include timestamps (Prat, Chatter, etc.).

this was not a core "feature" i was planning. I needed to do domething that allowed me to do this with little additional effort.
i am already hooking chat and adding timestamps to the messages i was interested in, i am just providing the ability for the user to display what is already there.
My feelings, as a user, would be that if i can have one addon do more swith very little additional overhead, i am all for that.
Does this mean I am going to build a full featured chat addon within this one? Not very likely.
There will be other little things like this but they will probably not be on the feature list. I added this because it is already done. When i look at my list of things to do, it helps motivate me when i see something checked off. So i guess the real reason it is there is to appease my bruised psyche. ;-)

This addon will require participation from the GM. Many of the features will not work if the character is not the GM.
I have divided the project into 2 separate addons.
Guild Manager -
Will be a full featured addon with the ability to control features guild wide. If the user is not the GM, many abilities will be impaired or disabled.
Guild Member -
Will have the ability to view and add items appropriate to a guild members access as controlled by the GM
The Member addon will be scaled down considerably since it will only be gathering info about itself and sending to a DB master (GM or Officer), while the Manager addon will be maintaining full DB sync and hosting updates.
If you do implement this option:
Guild Map. Display guild members positions on the world map/minimap. (this is a low priority. not even sure why i included it)
Please consider using LibGuildPositions so that people will show up in Cartographer, to HandyNotes_Guild, or any other map using that library as well as showing locations for anyone else in your guild using that library regardless of if they are using your addon.

i will look at this when i get to that. i honestly don't see how it would fit into my addon. i included it for a specific purpose but i am not sure this is something i want to get into it.
I have turned off comments on both the curse pages and the WoWAce project pages.
I have received a ton of requests to be involved in testing. Most of the messages i get are assuming this is a working addon.
I am outlining where i am in the process here and where I will need testers.
1. I am working on the structure of the DB side of this addon. The addon will be handling lots of data. I want to make sure the structure will support and scale.
2. create and test interclient data exchange. -- may need some testers here. although nothing visual to the user(s). i would need testers to run the addon and send me their SavedVariables file. This testing would require multiple users in the same guild
3. i then need to complete a DB versioning system that supports differential updating to conserve on bandwidth. Same testing scenario as above
4. at this point i need to start building the UI side of this. i am really not sure what this will look like. i suspect early versions will be plain and use the basic frames within AceConfig/AceGUI.
So, as you see, i am a long way from a useable adddon.
I'm very interested in this....
What I'm looking for is something to tell me what professions that the guild members have.. and what are their talent trees... aka, tanks, healers, dps for druids... and so forth.

This definitly fits into the plans but, to be honest, my features list is a bit ambitious. Not everything will be there from day 1.
i expect to have a good alpha test version within a week.
I have received a number of emails and wanted to answer the faqs.
1. Are you accepting testers yet?
I am keeping a list of interested parties that i will contact when i have a test ready release
2. What is the holdup?
Hmmm...life and game playing
3. a feature I would like would be an option to make settings for individual char in the guild. Instead of have everyone in a rank have the same settings. That way if I had someone in a rank that I wanted to have extra withdrawal I could just grant that person and not everyone in that rank.
that would be nice but not currently planned. i have to work within the constraints of Blizzards API. Blizzard does not allow changing these settings for individual users
4. The one thing that i know as a guild master is i like to see when a member as left the guild or when he was demoted. so can we see if that type of info can be added to the update?
this functionality is planned
5. Can you build something in that would track GUILD money loans to Guildies?
if an GM/Officer ginvites a toon the addon should check the blacklist. should said toon exist on the list, a popup displaying ban/blacklist info on that toon should popup. this will help lazy officers from inviting w/o looking up the blacklist.
also, by recruitment rules, do you mean a checklist of lvl/class/pertinent info, that on a /ginvite would be auto-checked and (dis)allow the invite? if so, bravo.
a nice addition would be a guild help line. this would be kinda like the gm ticket system. Guildies could open a technical (aka: mod/game/vent/compy help)ticket which could go to those capable rendering good advice, and quest/instance help ticket going to.
you could consider about a GM/Officer dnd auto reply msg system so one could let guildies know whats up and who to talk to without disturbing you if you were say raiding and what not.
i know you have a heap of work left before a finished product and i can't wait to try this out.

That is the plan. The GM will also be able to set whether the officer can override the BL.

yes, and more. The GM (or designee, will also be able to write the text for ads and authorized players will "play" the add automatically while they are logged in

This is a good idea. I can expand some things i am planning with ads to include this as well.

there will be a bulletin board within the addon interface where this info can be placed.
Thanks for your input. If i can stop trying to level my DK, i may actually get this done.
I'm up for testing if you like. I'm good at bullying MOST of my guild into putting in mods as long as they don't HAVE to fuss with them, and 3/4 of my officers are god for testing things.

The built-in Rank editing system sucks. :p

problem 2) with 150+ members with this installed, how much comms traffic will it generate?
1. That is up to the guild manager really. not really my problem here.
2. let's not create issues before i even have anything released. this is why you test.
