We made GatherMate to be map addon neutral. If you want something like this then yeah, make a secondary addon. Im gona guess the amount of things to make this work vs practicality may make it not worth the effort.
Actually, I currently have a local modified copy, about 40 lines of extra code that makes it work with Chinchilla_Expander_Minimap. I'm still considering whether this should be part of the core addon.
I am still using Cartographer without waypoints, prof and BG.
I use Routes
I have a little bug it seems. I explain as much as I can :
- I logg on, and go on some mining. My routes is up on my minimap and I see nodes.
- if I fly and open Cart, then I can see the routes and nodes sliding on the minimap not showing new areas nodes but the same from start just following me (like in RL if you are in car, and look at the moon and you are under the impression its following you).
- Closing Cart and re-opening stop the effect.
Eilenda, this is not a bug. When the map is open and you are looking at a map that is not your current zone, no addon (including GatherMate, Cartographer, Routes) can tell your current location. As such, the movement/updating of icons on the minimap stops because addons are unable to determine your current map location, until you switch the map you are viewing back to your current zone. Only then can we determine where your character is (the player arrow on the world map).
When you close the world map, obviously, we switch the world map back to your current zone in the background.
Current user of cartographer + carto_mining + carto_herbing here :)
I would like to try out GatherMate but have a quick question first.
When I'm flying around gathering mines & herbs, I like to use my minimap to guide me. I fly towards known nodes, and when I get close to them, I need to see the lil yellow dot showing whether the node is currently available to mine/herb. Most gathering mods keep their icon or put some circle outline over this yellow dot, which makes the yellow dot hard to see.
In my current implementation with cartographer, I have a custom .tga file (attached) that makes the node icon or circle outline disappear when I get in range of showing the yellow dot. So as I'm flying, if I'm in range of a node, it shows a yellow dot or nothing. If I'm not in range, it shows the icon of the potential node. Does this make sense?
I'm wondering if this is possible to do in GatherMate. If i'm in range of a potential yellow dot, I want nothing else other than the yellow dot to show up on my minimap.
I was a bit wary of changing from the Cartographer gathering thingies (ok its late and the english language has suffered...*sigh*) but after reading this thread I thought I'd give it a try.
I am impressed - Configuring Gathermate was easy enough and importing all my data from Cartographer means I don't feel like I'm starting from scratch (although I don't think I would have been anyway - it just makes me feel better)
I love the little HUD thing - will make my mining runs a little easier I think - I never got into the Cart Routes.
Someone asked earlier about Questhelper compatibility - I don't think that there will be any problem with it as that addon uses Cart Waypoints which you can still have enabled
Trying out GatherMate for the first time and went to import my Carto data. That went fine for herbalism and mining, but none of my treasure nodes were imported at all. Is there some secret toggle I'm missing?
It seems that something in TipTac (a tooltip addon found on wowinterface) screws with GatherMate's ability to record nodes. I tried toggling various options on and off in TipTac to no avail. I then turned off TipTac completely and GatherMate resumed recording nodes. I switched to TinyTip and GatherMate works great with it.
Just a heads up in case people complain about it or are having issues with nodes recording. :)
