I found another fishing node problem with GatherMate (well, my previous problem was just a PEBUAK, but still). I have now changed the color of my GatherMate nodes so I can tell the difference in the text between a saved node and a tracked "live" node. However, the live node seems to live in a lower strata now that they have different colors and it is actually VERY difficult to get the text to even show up. I have to mouse over it without getting too close to the saved node. Previouosly (and in Carth) you'd get all nodes in the general vicinity of your mouse... like I said, I suspect there is a strata issue here. If so I would STRONGLY argue that the tracker should be at a higher strata (in front of) the saved nodes.
This is not possible Lindalas. The yellow blip on the minimap is generated as part of the Minimap terrain background by WoW itself, it is not possible to change it or interact with it or insert anything between the terrain and the default blips.
If you do a /dump GetMouseFocus():GetName() while your cursor is on those blips, all you will get is "Minimap" as the answer. The WoW UI/API cannot even detect these blips, and this is probably yb Blizzard design to prevent too much automation.
I dropped the tracking circle alphas to 50% and the nodes show nicely for me, and the circles stayed visible enough.
The problem is not that I can't see the tracking nodes... the problem is that I have VERY hard time mousing over them to get the text. In Carth I used to get ALL the nodes that was under my mouse pointer and I think that was the case for GatherMate / Mapster too until I changed to color of the GatherMate fishing nodes.. now I only see EITHER the tracked text OR the GatherMate text and, because of the layers, it is sometimes very hard to pull up the track text.
So simply changing the strata of the tracking node wont work... well, lets come up with something that does :-)
Generally loving this mod, have been using it for a number of weeks.
My only beef (which I think other people have mentioned as well) is clustered tracking circles sometimes making it hard to see if there's an actual resource under them. While doing a node cleanup or messing with tracking circle alpha may help, could any other solutions be implemented?
The only thing I really miss from Gatherer in that respect is that it had a minimap button, and clicking on said button turned off all the overlays on the maps, so you could see if something was underneath when questionable. Perhaps you don't want to make a minimap button since you're trying to keep things compact and bloat free, I think. What about a slash command?
I don't know about you people, but if you all bothered to disable GatherMate and load up Cartographer_<Profs> or Gatherer again, you will notice that the exact same issue exists. It is not an issue specific to GatherMate.
Ya, I had that problem with cartographer. Gatherer sort of had the same problem. However, you could turn off the circles quickly and easily by clicking the minimap button in order to mouse over the wow blip and see the game text. I had to end up going back to gatherer since cartographer was hard to disable the minimap circles quickly.
As for the size of the icon, I just manually edit gathermate's code and change the size of the circles to something bigger so you can see them in clustered areas (or when the circle icon isn't quite centered on the blip)
New to GatherMate, using with Mapster, I had only been using it for a week or so. All had worked well until this am after 2.4 patch, no icons at all on my minimap. I used wowace updater, and it indicated that it had updated all installed addons. Back into WOW, now I see the mineral/windy cloud icons, but, afer adding a new gather, it fail to show on the minimap, just the old finds, both mineral and windy clouds.
GatherMate is working firn for me, ive got icons, new nodes are being added and I do use Mapster, you might have a old external or something that could be casuing you issues. The only thing I can NOT verify is gas extraction .. i dont have enginnering anymore
Ok I just checked in an update for GasDetection. Took me a bit to stealth across zanagar on my 61 rogue to find clouds, but new detection code is working and verified, the code I checked in earlier today was drycode (just syntax checked) so i tweaked it when i got home and onto a server. Enjoy
