They are not character or server specific, any route created can be viewed on any character on any server on any faction, if the appropriate auto-show/hide settings are set (if auto-show/hide is on).
I have auto-show/hide enabled with profession-only/track-only settings but my routes always shown :(

I think those settings are overridden when a route contains more than one type of nodes, e.g. some treasures, or a manual note of a location you want to visit regularily (e.g. for a rare mob)

My routes contain only one type of nodes (mines, herbs or gas clouds).
I'm encountering an error which is preventing me from getting into the Routes config with the /routes command. The config window is blank and I get the following error. Fortunately, my existing routes can still be seen, however I am unable to add, delete or maintain any of my routes.
This issue has existed prior to 3.2, but I was hoping to find that others were experiencing a similar issue and workaround.
vociferoy, that error means that you have Carbonite installed. Carbonite pretends to be Cartographer to other addons for some map purposes, and it fails pretty badly, since Routes is trying to ask Cartographer to see if it has a module called "WayPoints" installed, and Carbonite's imitation of Cartographer doesn't have this function.
In other words, Routes and Cartographer (the real one) works perfectly fine. Routes and Carbonite does not since it tries to pretend that Cartographer exists.
I could probably add in a check to see if Carbonite is loaded, since this issue comes up again and again. I don't know if you want to try Carbonite's own implementation of Routes anyway, I think it generates less efficient routes and doesn't have many useful features like taboo regions. :D
Meanwhile, you can disable Carbonite, create/edit your routes, then enable Carbonite again.
While I find Carbonite's other features very useful, I completely dislike Carbonite's implementation for gathering routes. I'm glad to know that I now have a workaround to continue to use Routes for the time being.
I have a small problem useing Routes and hopefully anybody can help me:
I create 2 Routes in Icecrown: one for herbs and one for mines
I use TomTom to follow the route, which works... but one for one route...:-)
How can i change the route for which TomTom shows the arrow?
Is it possible to "disable" a route and only load it when i want it to be loaded?
At the moment, the routes will automaticly loaded when i enter Icecrown.
Hideing the route doesn't work, TomTom still shows to the next Herb. But i want to disable Herbs and use Mines... or disable Mines and use Herbs... i want to switch...
How can i change the route for which TomTom shows the arrow?
The way I understand it is that Routes selects the nearest node which is included in a route, and starts from that one.
So, to change to e.g. mining nodes when you are on a herb route, stand next to a mining node with no herb nodes immediately nearby, so you can be sure it's the nearest, and "start" again.

Try under the Auto Show/Hide in options setting the routes to "Only Show While Tracking". That seemed to work for me. That way I can make a circle with one route, then switch and do the other.
I've started experiencing a problem recently. I use GatherMate as data source, but sometimes Routes seems to not load nodes data for certain areas, like Barrens or Redrige Mountains. GatherMateData frame with nodes ticks just doesn't appear below even if I choose GatherMate as datasource. There are like 10 or 20 areas like that. Other ones work perfectly fine, like Icecrown or Stormwind (even though there are no nodes, GatherMateData frame still appears)
I play on russian locale if that helps. Maybe the problem is with localized names. But I managed to create route for Elwen Forest some time ago and now Routes doesn't load nodes for that area as well.
You see, there is a chance it didn't work at all on some areas for me because I never used more than maybe 5 zone routes. I was hoping that maybe this was a known bug with data sources or something. Because I can't imagine what could possibly cause such a problem. It may be new GatherMate version or something else, I don't know for sure. I thought that maybe you can guess the possible reason. Thanks
Routes is currently bugging out when using HandyNotes as a data source.
Have not used the mod since long before HandyNotes was last updated, so may be related to one of its updates. Routes v1.2.8a-4-ga72021e, HandyNotes v1.1.5, GatherMate r691, Ace3 r965 (disembedded).
1. Load the mod options panel by typing /routes (no prior saved variables present).
2. Click the Add button (first error below occurs then).
3. Then uncheck "HandyNotes" in the Select Sources of Data section (GatherMate is the other data source available here; it has no issues with Routes).
4. Close the options box. Reopen it and recheck "HandyNotes" in the area above (second error below occurs then).

There were for sure no invalid HandyNotes present in the zones these errors occurred on; they occurred in 4 different zones tried. No problems after either deleting the HandyNotes.lua Routes module or commenting it out in the TOC. And no problems using GatherMate alone as the data source[FONT=monospace].

Anyone have a patch or idea for the AutoShow module? There's a couple out if date API calls in there. I know Xin's prolly busy ATM and I was just wondering if someone had a workaround.
