i have locked the chat frames in blizzard ui and disabled the chatter backgrounds... but whenever i mouseover the chat frames they appear and show the filter menu... is there any way to really lock the chat frames and prevent any mouse interaction?

I have this bug too, but i think its a blizzard bug cuz i tested it without Chatter enabled
I just had to disable Chatter yesterday since I could no longer switch to my "main" chat tab (I have 5 tabs in my chat window). I could click on it but wouldn't switch. Running without Chatter that problem went away.
I'm using the Channel Names module, and I'm having no problems at all with clicking on fellow guild-members' names. Note, however, that my guild chat is displayed in a secondary chat window (not the default one). That might have something to do with it?
I'm so sorry to bother people with this and apologize if this isn't the place to post this. The other day I was playing around with Chatter options and turned on a customized sound for a custom chat channel. It's horrible and I can't find my way back to the option to turn it off. Any help? ???
FWIW, I liked the idea though - just not the sounds that are available. Is there a way to import my own "ringtones" (not literal ones - just want it to act like one) to let me know that I got a message in a chat channel?
I feel you on this one, I have added highlightening so I can hear when someone referenced my nick ingame even if I'm alt-tabbed and the best sound I came with was some "BOOM" :D
Is there any chance you could please adjust the Channel Names module to allow empty ("") names? I flat-out don't want channel names for guild, raid, or party, but setting the substitute name to "" just inserts the default channel name. I tried looking at the code, but I admit I don't understand what it does. I actually have been using both prat and chatter, with only the channel renaming functionality of prat enabled just so I can remove channel names. No, using " " doesn't count, the last thing I want to do is mis-align my chat messages :)
just switched to chatter from prat as prat seemd to be constnatly resetting my general chat window to defaults size but in a weird location. anyway whenever i mouseover my chat tabs so as to lock/unlock the windows i get the follwing error.

any help would be appreciated... i havent gone through the trouble of disabling all/individual addons to test for a conflict but i did disable clearfont2 but same thing happens anyway.
It is a very well-designed mod, which gives me a lot of pleasure and I would like to congratulate the author on the idea and its implementation.
However, there are a couple of minor bugs. I cannot right-click on player names in chat (Channel Names module is enabled because I need it enabled) and whenever someone I haven't talked to before whispers me my chat tabs become invisible except for the chat tab I am using at the moment and a couple of some other randomly picked tabs. Thankfully I can scroll through tabs with Ctrl+mousewheel.
So, in response to my previous post, I poked into ChannelNames.lua. Line 140 has the function that substitutes channel names, and I have no idea why it inserts "|h". I removed the section of that string that reads ' "|h" ... ', and it works fine after setting a channel name to "" in the savedvariables. Why, exactly, was this there in the first place? I don't see any reason for it...
Is there any chance you could please adjust the Channel Names module to allow empty ("") names? I flat-out don't want channel names for guild, raid, or party, but setting the substitute name to "" just inserts the default channel name. I tried looking at the code, but I admit I don't understand what it does. No, using " " doesn't count, the last thing I want to do is mis-align my chat messages :)
I've been using the " " method but now not even that works ok. since 3.0.2 if you have a channel named " " you'll no longer be able to shift click names of people that talk on that channel.

If I had to guess, I'd say this is in there to automatically color text in the appropriate channel color. Or some other text formatting thing. I remember a few revisions ago there were a few misplaced |h's that were upsetting the Achievement coloring.

This actually seems to be a default UI issue.

That's actually worse...then it changes it to "|Hchannel:Guild"
