Meh. It's a work in progress. WAU gets you works in progress. People have been warned about that a zillion times in a multitude of different arenas. Those same people have also been warned to back-up their AddOn's prior to running WAU. Just be thankful that the WoW Ace community is on the ball, tends to move quickly on problems and has provided you with a way to easily grab the latest fixes and improvements.
Sure, it was a shock to see something new and obviously not 100% polished, but after about 30 seconds of frustration and borderline anger I _was_ able to get things working pretty much as they have in the past. Is it perfect? No. Is it better? Debatable, but probably eventually. Is it worth bitching at Toad about? Definitely not given that most of us AutoBar users would be seriously lost without it. Give it a few weeks. Assume a pleasant tone, post suggestions and the details of whatever bugs you encounter and keep updating. You'll be fine.

The WoWAce SVN has become the primary distribution point for many, many addons - a lot of which aren't available at all from other sources. In light of this, saying that it's okay for developers to check garbage into the trunk of the SVN because it was originally intended to be a public version controlled repository for addons in progress is a ridiculous cop-out at this point in time. Developers can and should make branches for changes that aren't suitable for the masses.
After first getting the "Old" Autobar four months ago, it took me about half an hour to figure it all out and customize it to how I wanted it. I encountered no bugs and other than some iffy category labeling, it worked perfectly and became an indispensable part of my UI.
Today I updated my addon's as usual using WAU, and found my bar to be in the middle of my screen, with all my settings apparently gone. I notice the FuBar icon, and fiddle around with the settings for about 20 min before deciding to find online documentation to help me along, as the only thing that appeared to work properly was the "Shift-Click" lock/unlock feature. "Ctrl-Click" didn't appear to do anything, my attempts to change the position's of the various buttons went nowhere, regardless of how many times I reloaded my UI or restared WoW or completely removed and re-installed Autobar, I even deleted autobar config. Either the button would not move to where I thought the position number should be (Ex: the button I want to move is currently in position 5, I want to move it to 1, so I change it's position number to 1, the icon moves to position 3, the item info popup shows it to be in position 7, and one of the other buttons moves to position 1, I reload my UI, the button is now in position 3, I try and move it again, and nothing happens), or it did nothing.
So here I am, having looked at this thread, the "original" thread, the Google page, Curse page, etc. and all I have found is that I'm going to have to go back to the backup I made of Autobar a week ago just so I can keep playing as normal, until these bugs are worked out and this new version is usable.
The method of customizing the buttons in the old version may have been tedious, but at least it worked if you had patience and half a brain.
If the most recent version of the "old" bar could be made available for download that would be great, because I didn't sign up for a Beta and the WAU listing does not indicate it's a Beta. Hell, I have a number of mods that state "Beta Use at own risk" but at least they work.
Right click self cast on the pop-up buttons is working sketchy at best.
Also, the off-hand weapon buff button requires a right click to poison the off-hand, left click does the main hand.
Just keep in mind that the old version is probably no longer supported, and if it breaks at some point in the future you're on your own.
I hope it doesn't take that long to get this one fixed ;) I'm sure the ppl looking for the old version are looking for something that's less beta and will suit them best for raids they'll be going on Til they have a chance to sit down w/ a more usuable version.
I agree on a point though that if the mod note in WAU could be changed to reflect that this is in a very early beta stage, it could save some Problems later.
...Developers can and should make branches for changes that aren't suitable for the masses.
Did that, & guess what almost nobody uses it so the bug discovery rate is tiny.

Now as mentioned below, on the AutBar wiki, as well as the google code page, google is your primary source for official AutoBar releases.
As for why this gets released on SVN despite being buggy & with people using SVN as their source of release mods: simple. I need QA & you folks are the QA. This free software you are getting gets written by people who essentialy donate their time. Now it is your turn to donate your QA time.
If you do not like that then go to the official AutoBar site & dl the old version. Or switch to PT3Bar or some other alternative. Heck, write your own replacement mod! There are endless ideas & a multitude of ways to do the same thing AutoBar does.
But whatever you do, remember that this is a game & most people play it for fun. So anyone getting angry here needs to calm down & go buy a puppy to play with. Puppies are fun! They will make you happy.
Did that, & guess what almost nobody uses it so the bug discovery rate is tiny.
Within a minute of using the new version I found that almost none of the configuration GUI options work. It's a little ridiculous to argue that you needed us to find those for you... I have no problem running into small bugs here and there, and I usually report them, but that's a far cry from making an addon completely unusable (and it really is atm).
After the recent update of Autobar with WAU with this new version, there is an major problem after configuration.
The popup directions by no means can be changed, it still popup with the only direction that is upwards. I used to use Autobar with vertical arrangement with popup at the left direction. Please check if this is something I've missout or this is a flaw.
Also, I found out that sometimes items doesn't refresh, like mission items etc.
Thanks alot.
BTW, this version is a great improvement over the previous version on using less memory. Nice work.
Also, the off-hand weapon buff button requires a right click to poison the off-hand, left click does the main hand.
Added some code to invert those

I checked in a version that will update the direction, but it requires a ui reload for now or a relog.

Great, you are finding bugs, now post the actual bugs that are stopping you from using AutoBar...

If you don't like the new version and want to go back to the old one, then download this http://files.wowace.com/AutoBar/AutoBar-r51227.7.zip, delete your current ..\Interface\AddOns\AutoBar folder, extract the zip into your AddOns folder, and you're good to go. If you use WAU, don't forget to right click AutoBar/AutoBarConfig in the addons list and set them to be ignored (otherwise you'll just overwrite it the next time you update via WAU)...
There you have it, complete instructions for reverting. Also you can follow the info in the first post to get to Google Code for official releases.
Requires a UI reload for changes to go over:
Totems buttons/bars are still being displayed after being disabled. With those disabled, the quest button does not drop and bump over.
Autobar icon/label changes. Most general changes to autobar, they're 'sticky' and always display.
I haven't found a way to break the totems off from autobar itself, so until that happens, they'll remain disabled in mycase, and I'll continue to use numen. A bar that's half a screen long is too long.
When I get on my mage later I'll stick down any issues I run across.
After sometime with playing with the options through the rock configuration, i noticed that my memory usage went from usually 25 to over 502mb and then while moving the scale option, wow crashed.
After restart i noticed it again that the memory usage increases when i use an option.
First off I'd like to say that this new version seems very nice and I'm excited to see it flesh out. I also don't mind helping QA. :)
I haven't had much of a chance to play with it, but I did notice a few cosmetic problems:
-Alignment of the main bar and the text on items (count and macro) and the positions of the popup bars doesn't adjust according when changing the padding, row/column configuration. The only thing I found that it would adjust with was scale, and I had a good 20-30 second FREEZE UP whenever adjusting the scale.
-Padding doesn't seem to do anything at all in Dreamlayout. I tried reloading the UI after adjusting it, with still no result.
-The Dreamlayout border is missing. I think that this was the case in the old version of Autobar also? The plain icon style that it currently has is close, but Dreamlayout should have thick transparent black border (which looks similar to the default chat window background). If you use Bartender, you should be able to see what I'm refering to.
-Style changes don't apply to the popup bars.
-Alpha, Fade Out, Button Width, Button Height doesn't seem to do anything to any style.
I will play around it in more depth tommorow and see what I find.

I second that.
Plus: The totem buttons for fire & water totems change to last selected totem from popup menu, but earth & air don't.
And a suggestion: since Battle & guardian elixirs have an own button, they shouldn't also be in the buff button popup menu.
Edit: On my lvl 60 druid, there aren't any buttons in the druid bar, even "Show Empty Buttons" doesn't show anything.
Edit2: Done some more testing on my pally and wanted to make a custom category for my blessings

Note: that a current bug requires a relog to make a Custom Category name change or new one to show up in the popup list for a button.
Relog doesn't help. The drop-down list for custom buttons stays empty.
I like the way ATB evolves very much. Keep up the great work !
I have one question/suggestion about the new autobar: Will there be a bar and button lock/unlock option in the config window? I prefer to keep my fubar as 'clean' as possible and normally only have rock and niagara on my fubar for my config needs :)
Edit: Yes I know about shift+click on the icon, point is that I prefer not to show the icon on my bar and just use rock if possible. Sorry for not explaining clearly ;)
Cant seem to move the bars at all if i shift click

I have no idea how you were able to do that.
There is no way to move the main bar. Shift-clicking the fubar menu does nothing. Ctrl-clicking the fubar menu does nothing.
I'm afraid that Ace has now entered the land of Cosmos, back in the early, nasty days. Click something, and your entire UI is dead, dead and gone.

Overall though? I like.
This is not correct. If you read the instructions they say to click the AutoBar icon. Clicking fubar just gives u fubar options.
That's a bit dramatic. Once again, WAU spoils the children.
