Has anyone got this addon to work? Almost any configuring and it breaks. Are people just using it with defaults or are they using an old version and ignoring all updates? /mourn saien
I'll admit, the new configuration method is pretty frustratingly buggy. However, to "/mourn saien" is ludicrous. Autobar has taken huge steps and made huge improvements since Saien stopped developing it well over a year ago, and we have Toadkiller to thank for all those efforts. I get the frustration, but it's out of line to crap on the current developer when things go wonky, especially in a freeware project. Toad's been far more responsive (and less rude) than Saien ever was. Just a thank you to Toad for those of us that appreciate the time you spend making our WoW gameplay better.
I had gone back to an older version and marked WAU not to update, however a couple days later and it updated anyway.. maybe I unchecked it by accident. Anyways... I felt if I were going to go back and reinstall an older version again and re-do it on all my alts again.. that I might as well just sit down and configure the new one. Anything I did was an error, it was very frustrating, I mean you guys use a SVN, there are sections for stable and non stable releases. If Toad wanted public testing I am sure there are plenty within the ace community who would love to help him. It's unfortunate how much I rely on this addon. So just label me as a jerk and ignore me. It's not like I take your opinion to heart either.
Toad: Please don't take my complaints personally, you have kept this addon going and I owe you for that.
As for Saien, interpret that however you want, but since I play on Hyjal, I do wish he never quit the game and I do wish he kept up with his addons.
I just wanted to toss a WTG!! at Toad. I've been using the new version since it was released to the WAU and was very frustrated the first day or two. Well, I now have it working about 99% the way I want it. I absolutely LOVE the named key-bindings. It makes it so much better than before. Do I dislike the new config? Not that much, I never liked the layered approach from before and tended to get in trouble with it. I would love some drag and drop addition of items but I know that will come. Keep it up Toad. This version IS an improvement!!!
Please continue discussions of WowAce SVN addon stability in the General forum so that Toadkiller doesn't have to wade through it to find useful feedback. I've spun off a new thread here if anyone is interested: http://www.wowace.com/forums/index.php?topic=9321.0
Bug AutoBar 2.02.03.08 Beta (49903):
Often when i conjur a mana gem after I used one or more the recovery button will not gain more Buttons and thus not show all potions/gems. I have to reload my UI for it to change.
And one suggestion:
I don't like to have all different timers on one button, ie mana gems and mana pots on 1 button, i would put items that start the potion timer on one (still different buttons for different effects), items that start the gem/stone timer on another button and items that start the explosive timers on a third button of that category. Not sure if this is possible (as far as i understand you use pt actegories and i am not sure if pt uses different categories for gems/potions.) but it would be nice and I (and at least 3 others i know of) would not have to use custom groups.
I am also getting tons of errors of the like already posted and I cannot stress how much of a pain in the ass the config is what was wrong with having both ways to setup buttons like its was a couple versions ago the new method makes it impossible to add custom items to existing buttons. I love this addon the most out of all the addons I have and I am going to find it hard live without PLEASE I am BEGGING you to put the config window back in so we visually customize our buttons once again it make the most sense. I truly apreciate you taking the time to take over development of this addon but please take some consideration for those of us that cant live without it.
...i would put items that start the potion timer on one (still different buttons for different effects), items that start the gem/stone timer on another button and items that start the explosive timers on a third button of that category...
This is something the rewrite specifically aims to make easy to do. The categories went into PT3 quite some time ago but they need to actually be populated b4 Categories & Buttons can be based on them:
["Consumable.Recovery.Stone.Healing.Other"] = "11951:800,32578:2000,",
["Consumable.Recovery.Stone.Healing.Warlock"] = "m,Consumable.Warlock.Healthstone,",
["Consumable.Recovery.Stone.Mana.Other"] = "23354:60,",
I did not know there is an explosives cooldown that extends beyond the explosives category. Could you give examples of such items? Rocket Launcher?
will the little dot/anchor lock on the bar be making an re-appearance in future?
No, the dot thing caused as many problems for people when it made its debut as the current scheme. However it is inferior in all respects except for the part where it is in your face although even that was controversial. The current scheme is however discoverable via minimap icon, fubar icon, or console commands.
Its features include:
Sticky movement with respect to other AutoBar bars etc. & Bartender3 &other bars in the future
Right click to configure a bar while in Bar Move mode.
You can see exactly where the bar is moving to (registration is a bit off right now but will be fixed).
You can which other bars you can stick to when dragging.
You can otherwise hidden or empty bars so you do not accidentally obscure them.
