BTW, what your feelings about the recent change concerning the "Talent Builds/Template Builds" switching and the addition of the checkbox ? Does that make the UI easier to understand ?
yes its much better than "current template", that was confusing on start (but got used to it) :)
just wondering if youre still working on the ability to view any/all talent trees from any character?
got asked to make a mage build for someone last night while playing my shammy, thought it had been implemented already, asked if they had talented so i could just send the template (they did :) ) then remembered it was still in the works so to speak. alt-tab to blizz calc i go :(
that addition will make this mod a dream come true lol

This is working, if you have installed (and not disabled) the Talented_Data additional addon.

If you have Prat installed, (and the other has also Prat), you should be able to export templates as "links" in any channel.
I'm going to work on a few additional feature (export a template as a link to blizzard site, offer an UI-based way to transmit talents from client to client with AceComm).
Active Template mode, go to New Template, Empty, then you should have a submenu with an entry for each class. If not then make sure that Talented_Data is not disabled.
Any chance of a better export? I'd like to be able to export the data not just as text, but as a URL to Blizzard's calculator, where people can view my talent tree.
I'd also like to be able to send data without having the Prat module installed. I don't like Prat and I don't want to install it just for this feature.
And it would also be nice to be able to cap talents. When spending talents in template mode, it'll go on forever. I can spend 3000 points if I wanted to, because it won't cap at 61.
If the Blizzard URLs would be too long, maybe use wowhead-urls for the export. After all most I know use those already anyways, since they aren't 12 screens wide :)
Just started using this mod (was using Special Talent before, loved how it worked but I'm not hopeful that it's going to be updated regularly) and I have a few comments:
1. If I have "Confirm Learning" turned on, it will ask me if I want to learn something even if I can't:
a. I have no talent points to spend
b. I haven't fulfilled the requirements for that talent
c. I've already maxed out that talent (i.e. to put 6/5 points into something)
I don't know how possible it is to fix this problem, but I'd love to have point spending confirmation that I can actually trust "Yes" to mean "spend this talent point" rather than "spend this talent point if it is possible to do so, and if it isn't, don't give me an error of any kind telling me I didn't spend the talent point and why." I can't just turn off the confirmation, since it doesn't seem immediately clear to me that I am in template mode vs. normal mode, and I'm always afraid that I'm in the wrong mode and about to spend a point by mistake.
2. Transitions between templates and normal and editing seem somewhat unclear and awkward. You open the talent frame, and you have to enable editing before you can spend the points. You switch to template mode, and you have to enable editing before you can change anything. Is there a reason why there is a no-edit mode in the first place, and why can't I change this default? It isn't immediately clear to me when I open the frame that I am in no-edit mode, since the checkbox in the bottom doesn't always match whether I'm actually IN edit mode or not. (Such as when I recently switched back to normal mode from template mode.)
3. Is there any way we can, like Special Talent, see both our template and our current talent spec at the same time? Like, choose a specific planning template for that character that will show somehow in normal mode, so I don't have to switch back and forth a bunch to compare my current with my planned? Just a thought.
4. One more thing. It took me a while to figure out how I might be able to tell when I have talent points to spend, and how many. I guess I could look up into the corner and see if the level required for the current template matches my level or not, but this seems like a weird, roundabout way of doing it. I could turn off level requirement, but that still requires math on my part to take the current number and the maximum and get the actual number of free points. Maybe I'm just weird about wanting something that says "2 unspent points" somewhere.
Sorry for nitpicking... This is an awesome mod, but the way it currently works is somewhat confusing. I know some people who don't like this mod for these reasons and prefer to keep using Special Talent until it breaks completely and they're forced to switch. I personally prefer this mod, but can really see room for improvement.

Except that it's exactly what the underlying API does. I know it sounds weird, but when you are editing talent, I did not want to change the fact that clicking a talent icon do call the LearnTalent() API, whatever the state of the game is. I have of course to ask for confirmation before making this call.
I might add an option to not call (and thus not ask for confirmation) for these cases.

This is an old idea of mine to have a few read-only templates available (like other's people's talent tree), but I never got around implementing it. For now, not editing by default is a safety measure. I'll look at the bug you're mentionning.

This information is color coded. You have points left to spend if the string is green, you've place too many if it's red. I really don't think another explicit string is needed.

I have to say, I've only recently realised that that you can tell if you have talent points left by what colour the text is that lists your level. (I just got to level 52, and I've been using Talented since level 1. :)) I think I mostly didn't notice because I was never thinking about anything except what I should spent my next talent point on, and as soon as I've spent it I close the Talented frame without
Also, even though there's colour coding, you can't tell (without counting :)) how may points you have left, so respeccing in-game might be a smidgen more tricky than it could be.
I feel like I'm complaining about Talented as if it has a major flaw, please don't think that's the case. :) Talented rules, thank you for the time and effort you've put into it!
I have added in r35345 a few new options, so that the confirmation dialog does not appear when applying templates or when no talent would be gained in normal mode. I also added the option of Editing by default when entering normal or template mode.
I just installed Talented and the export URIs for Blizzard and Wowhead talent calculators do not give the same results. In my case, Blizzard's is correct and Wowhead's is incorrect.

After 2.1, and with talented 36311 / talented_data 36312, it seems the new paladin talent improved holy shield hasnt been added to Talented add on.
As such, my talent points are messed up and i cant spec properly via Talented :o

Disable Talented_Data for now. I'll update it later today or tomorrow.
Have talented_data installed with talented, whenever I mouseover any talent, I get "Can't display effective tooltip info" message in the tooltip instead of any information about what the next rank of said talent would give me.

Import doesn't work. The URL seems too long?
Also write template link doesn't seem to do anything, I can't click the link or anything.

Thanks for your report. This is fixed in 35405.
Spifftaculous.

Disable Talented_Data for now. I'll update it later today or tomorrow.
Will this allow me to basically 1 click swap between talent builds?
IE: I can setup a PVP/Raid/Shadow spec with the editor, and when I relearn talents I 1 click and it'll auto-populate?
