increase the window width and then increase the bars per row. actually the reverse may work better for you as the less bars per row the more flatter they can be (ie they wont grow upwards as much)
I've tried changing the scale, the width, and the number of bars per line to different settings and nothing changes whatsoever.
sounds like youve set the bag to use the bank settings and youre changing the bag settings - which obviously wont make any changes to the bags appearance.
settings are like mini profiles, make sure the bag is using the bag settings and the change the bag settings.
I'd also like to see it not grow vertically at all when you go into edit mode. It has a nasty habit of doing that, and pushing the top bar to the top of the screen, underneath fubar/titan/etc making the micro buttons non-clickable.
if the anchor is the top then it should expand downwards when you go into edit mode. if the anchor is the bottom then it'll expand upwards. tends to be logical that way.
Can I suggest you make the auto-growth horizontal on edit?
the code is generic so its not going to happen.
I also cannot get the search bar to shut off.
so you went into the config and hid the search frame and it didnt hide?
It really doesn't do me any good unless/until it can search all my toons for an item rather than just the current one..
there are two different search abilities, one per window, the other across all windows/toons - each has its own purpose.

No, i can't get it to hide.
I did find the bank tie to the bag settings. I have absolutely no idea how that happened...but it must have been set like that for quite some time as I haven't messed with the Ark settings since I first got it (over a year ago btw).
I suspect the search might be tied to that as well....I'll check it.
Check your bag display...when AI upgraded a couple weeks ago, one of my bags set itself to not display. It's trivial to just re-enable displaying of the bag.
Yes! That solved the problem! Since I normally don't show the bag changer bar I didn't notice that one bag had been switched off during the profile upgrade. Quite a tricky issue... Thanks for helping out!
Is it a known issue that when sorting by Equip Location (either in bag or bank), it doesn't actually sort accurately. If I'm looking at what I'm wearing, it does sort accurately.
With just 'item equip location' checked, the order is:
Cloak, Chest, Feet, Ring 1 & 2, Gloves, Head, Off Hand, Legs, Main Hand, Neck, Shirt, Shoulders, Tabard, Trinket 1 & 2, and Bracers.

the wearing location is sorted (by default) by slot number, ie in the order of the character pane, not in actual item location order.
item location (when included in a sort) is sorted alphabetically by its name (in your language) and not by it's position in the character pane.

Is there a way to get it to sort by position in the character pane? It'd be easier to see at a glance what piece of gear I am missing for a particular outfit, if it were in the order of the character pane.
Feature request. For a while I was using whohas and it had a really nice feature of it telling you what guild tab an item was in (so instead of 802 items in guild bank it would say 802 items in guild bank tab 1 or where ever else they were in the guild bank tab). Could that feature be included in ArkInventory as well please.
So, the bug that keeps on giving: panel lifts up above the items and you can't manipulate your inventory. How the hell do you resolve this? I've tried logging out, reloading the client, closing/re-entering...

When opening my bags recently, I drop down to about 3 FPS, and if i do bank and bags down to 2 FPS. Any idea how to fix this? Im about to delete the saved variable, but would rather not have to reconfigure all my customs.
I am using the most recent 3.2.7 and I have a question. In previous versions I could hide my Soul Shard bag and contents so I did not have to stare at a ton of shards. Now I cannot seem to do that is this feature still functional?

as in when you open ai it drops to 3 and then goes back up or it stays at 3 with ai open?
have you tested with just ai running?
im thinking this is an embedded lib issue and another mod is having issues but ai getting blamed because its first on your list so it owns the libs. that and theres been no updates to ai for a while now.

hide the bag itself by right clicking on it and deselecting display.
hide the category for soulshards so those items arent seen, you may have to hide the empty category for them as well if you want those hidden too. (or turn on clumping)
I have some problems with the overall search (the extra window to do a search over all characters).
Because i dont know anymore the normal behaviour i will describe what happens:
When i open the overall search window, it shows the list of (all?) items that is arkInventory aware of.
But there at the beginning some entries that contain only a icon (there is no text after the icon). WHen i do the search, it displays (of course!?) also at the beginnig of the (result) list the entries without text. It cost me weeks to discover that the search works, because the last weeks i was confused of the empty entries that have only a icon. when i scroll down i see the items with text (but i dont scrolled down, because the result seems to be buggy for me). No i know that the search is full functional, but how can i remove the weird entries (and where do they come from).
but how can i remove the weird entries (and where do they come from).
wher do they come from: uncached items - ie you have no data, so all i can get is the icon.
how can you remove them: mouse over the list, ie move the mouse over every weird entry - that causes the tooltip to be built which goes and asks the server for the item info and then that gets cached. as soon as you scroll the list gets updated and the "weird" items disappear, replaced by their real data.
i could write some extra code to workaround that issue but it's not overly important enough at the moment.

Unfortunately/Fortunately, it resizes everything on the bank setting rather than just the bank.
Looks like this is all still in progress. I got it to resize down, though, with the bank setting, so I'm all good.
Just FYI the standard bag window setting does not resize at all still.
