Remove the item selection list completely.
Expand the item/bonus summary.
On clicking on a slot, open a new window with the item selection list. Have this list restricted to items that just match that slot.
Updated as per suggestion (r48454). Others have also responded that this is a good solution. The following screenshot is the result:
This is only possible if I have a full database of every combination of race/class/level of base stats, without the modification of any talents.
Ahh, sounds like it could be pretty horrible if you supported every level, although 70s only might be a bit easier I guess.
Data contribution can begin now. :)
If you have a level 70, strip off ALL your gear, take off ALL your buffs, and report your base stats. You also must not have any talents that modify your base stats (such as +15% Int, or +15% Agi, +5% Dodge, etc).
Str, Agi, Sta, Int, Spi
Armor, Defense, Dodge%, Parry%, Block%
Spell Crit%, Mana Regen
AP, RAP, Crit%
HP, Mana
Race, Class
As per stated on your character sheet. Did I miss anything?
Hmm just a suggestion, could you add plain spell damage to individual schools of spell damage, maybe in brackets so we can see how much damage is specific to that school, but so we don't have to add it up manually. Very very nice mod, it's made all of my notepad-written gear plans redundant :)

Sounds good, I'll get using and abusing those PTR copies once I get a chance and get some stats posted.

Implemented for 6 schools of magic + vs undead. Also did the same for AP (Feral / vs Undead).
Fixed bug where the selected profile to compare against always uses your player class instead of the stored class when calculating Derived Stats.
The only issue I see is that set bonuses are not calculated correctly. For instance if I swap out 1 item it shows me losing +20 stam, but that bonus only requires two of the other set which I do have. Just letting you know in case you did not. If there isn't a method around this automatically, perhaps manual adjustments could be applied so that the right totals could be seen.

Set Bonuses are already taken into account of in WoWEquip. If you believe this is not the case, can you report exactly which set and which set bonus is not being added correctly, and under what circumstances/combinations of gear? Feel free to try on different sets, their bonuses when the appropriate number is worn should be included already.
Syeren reported a similar bug with the season 2 priest set 35 resilience bonus not being added, but he somehow fixed it on his end by unequipping everything in WoWEquip, and then equipping them back on one by one and watching the bonuses add.
Love this addon :) Is there any chance you could bring back the plain query textbox in some way? A lot of times I know what I'm looking for and just want to link it to a friend (a gem or pattern for instance), and instead of having to drill down quite a ways to find it, I just want the option to type it in. Even a small button with to click which then opens a textbox to search in would be great :)

That is not the intent of WoWEquip, so it is unlikely I will do this. You might want to look into getting an item database mod such as Lootlink, ItemSync, KC_Items or some similar mod, which allows you to find items that are not in your local cache unlike WoWEquip.
I've looked at the file, and wanted to add localization for deDE.
But I'm not absolutely sure what strings need localization, and which do not.
So if you could shortly explain it to me, I'd be thankful. :)
Every string above the "IMPORTANT NOTE" should be localized as they are used for display.
The strings that start with WOW_EQUIP_ITEMTYPE_xxx and WOW_EQUIP_ITEMSUBTYPE_xxx must match the return values from GetItemInfo() in your locale because that function returns localized values.
WOW_EQUIP_INSTRUCTIONS_TEXT is probably the only unused string, as a leftover from an early version of WoWEquip. You can look through the code to see where a string is used.
Below the "IMPORTANT NOTE", you should only modify the strings that are in
t = "localize this"
Copy the entirety of the enUS file basically into the deDE one.

The frames are movable to your liking.
Thanks for making it!
Looks great!
I hate to keep being whiney and making suggestions... but can you make the profile windows movable as well?
Done.
This is now fixed. Thanks Jerry.
So is your mod!
