I intentionally cut out a lot of features in Mangos to see what people complain about. I have honestly not put too much thought into the bag and menu bars up to this point, but feel as if they have a use. The real question is if they belong in Mangos core or not.
Bagbar and Menu bar: What is the alternative? To auto-hide them? Or to have them show up? Since Blizzard included them into the actionbar, I feel they are part of the core. Technically they shouldn't be, but that was a choice made by blizzard. Auto-hiding them (ignoring them) would confuse a lot of people perhaps.
Cast bar: This is something I want precisely because it does not include the things you specify. Actually, I always think about doing mirror bars, but solely to unify the look of the casting and mirror bars.
I use seperate mods for that, as do most that I know. Same goes for Mirrorbars, BUT that said - it is fairly simple to implement it. Perhaps as a plugin? As a merry-go-in-between solution?
Highlighting: I like it. I've not determined how I will implement it yet, but likely as Mangos_BuffHighlighting or something of that sort. Unless I figure out a good reason I need to build it directly in.
Makes my life as pally a LOT easier. I target everyone, see how many buttons light up :P It's not a dealbreaker if it's missing, but handy. Though I am sure just as many disabled it in Bongos3.
Also, did I mention how profiles work in Mangos? Every one is set to use the profile, Default, by default. Paging settings are saved per profile, per class.
Nice. Very nice.
All in all I like Mangos/Djembe whatever ya wanna call it. Took me less than 3 minutes to set it up with bar 1 paging based on function (eg. when in BG - thus pvp flagged, since then my openings macro is too damn long and I just dot stuff up -> shadow priest) It's lighter, while a few features aren't present like the highlighting, I don't really find anything deal breaking.
I'd like to vote for something like "Anomaly" (a deviation from the common rule, type, arrangement, or form). I think this would apply as this bar mod is getting back to basics and is deviating from the common form of a lot of the new "behemoth" mods that try to do everything.
Tekkub's suggestion of "lemon" makes me laugh. lol As the name would imply, I've never known either of you guys to make a "lemon" mod or anything even remotely close! :P Sarcasm abounds and is certainly a refreshing change imho.
I'll examine the UIParent code to see if its related. Otherwise, its possibly an addon conflict.
ButtonFacade controls text placement, as far as I'm aware. You'll probably want to bring up that issue there.
Edit: I'm not seeing a reference in any lua file to ActionButton1 for any sort of positioning code Leaning more towards an addon conflict.
Also I'm going to go through some posts, since I think I missed a few:

Also, you mentioned 10 bars in your description -- is that number fixed? And does it mean each bar will be restricted to 12 buttons? That would seem very inflexible, and a huge step backwards from Bongos2.
The current system is limited to 10 bars, with 12 button each. This is one of those, "I'm only using 12 button bars" things.

I tried out Mangos for a bit last night with ButtonFacade. I noticed that if you are using the keyboard the skins look fine, but as soon as you use your mouse to click on a button, the default UI button skin shows up. I don't think this is a fault with my personal BF skin, since it is really just Zoomed with a backdrop and 2px smaller icon (for a 1px black border look), and it works normally with Bartender4.
It is the fault of the dreamlayout skin. Its killing off the normal texture, without providing a replacement. I'm not doing any modifications to the actionbarbutton template at all.

Lovely! Need exactly this from actionbar mod - small, fast, having the basic functionality in :D
Thanks tuller, put it in the files.wowace so my updater can chew on it, it is awesome.
Its not going to end up on the wowace svn. It might end up on the wowinterface or curseforge svn, depending on what i feel like doing.
