Oke, can I request a new explanation to get the newest "alpha" version again, and whats going wrong exactly witht he pet merge, isnt it suiteble to take a look at existiung addons like recount etc for some code to get from there?
Alright guys, I've updated much of Assessment to work again. I've finally gotten access to the project page, so I will soon be committing updates for the Damage, Healing, Dispel, Interrupt, and BigWigs auto-save modules. I do plan to update the rest of the modules as time permits, convert the FuBar plugin to a DataBroker feed, and eventually convert everything to Ace3.
Please do report issues you encounter with core functionality or with modules listed as functional on the project page. If you notice significant discrepancies between Assessment and other combat meters, please provide screenshots of both addons' detail views, and a combat log if possible.
Nice one. Looking forward to having Assessment around again. I like when there are many addons for similar functionality so everybody can pick the one that is closest to how they like it, and I know a lot of folks have been missing Assessment since 2.4.
I'll get started on the LDB portion. Did you rewrite the damage module, or is my hackish 2.4 code still around?
I mostly rewrote it. I think it's still missing some event types, though I haven't seen any significant differences between it and Recount/Skada (yes, I've been running all 3 side by side, lol). Mainly I got rid of the unnecessary table stuff from ParserLib days, and updated the pet merge stuff to watch for the SPELL_SUMMON and UNIT_DIED event types. Eventually I'd like to rewrite the whole pet handling system so that pets can be merged/unmerged on the fly, but that can wait til everything is working again. It also doesn't properly track damage schools; that's on my to-do list.
As for the LDB bit, there is a Broker.lua file in my commit, but it doesn't work, and since I've still got other FuBar plugins floating around to need FuBar2Broker it's not been a high priority. Feel free to nuke it. :p
Another damagemeter to choose from :P Great to see it resurrected. I hope that once Assessment is rewritten, someone will do a side-by-side comparison between Recount/Skada/Assessment to measure each addon's individual performance when it comes to CPU/memory usage and ofcourse accuracy.
Personally, I hate Waterfall. I use the non-tree view, because having to click on tiny, tiny plus signs to expand and contract sections in the tree view is awful. Unfortunately this means that anything with many nested groups gets truncated because the main panel only supports a fixed number of controls. In either case it's annoying having to scroll around to locate a specific option when everything is mashed together. While I'm not a huge fan of the "nested dropdown menu UI" it's a far sight better than Waterfall.
The rest of the addon still requires AceLibrary, so there's not really any reason to not use Dewdrop.

Durcyn, I'd actually prefer to not tag anything at this point. I'm still seeing noticable differences between Assessment and Recount/Skada, pet merging doesn't work at all, half the modules are commented out because they're still completely broken, and 99% of people who see "omg Assessment update!" won't read the large bold text at the top of the description stating that the addon is not fully functional, leading to useless comments and tickets about things being broken. Especially since all packages are syndicated to Curse... if that could be disabled, I'd be fine with tagging, but unfortunately it can't.
