I haven't had enough time as I'd like to work on cleaning up the rest of the modules. If anyone's interested, do please knock yourself out. If you're not comfortable committing to trunk, branch it again or post a diff here.
I'd love to do this, I code for a living and can understand the code in chunks so logicwise there's no issue. The problem I have is grasping such a big mod as a whole because of the lack of reference material for moving beyond the basics in Lua and WoW. Normally at that point in a language I can learn what I need from the API but Wowwiki's API is sketchy/wrong is a lot of places. (And yes I know there is a Lua API but this only tells half the story). Anyway this was off-topic really, it just annoys me because I have the time and inclination to do it and there's no reason why I couldn't learn Lua to a good level if I could just find a decent resource.
the easiest way to deal with it on a per-module basis is to look at the parser handlers, the data table they deal with, then reverse engineer a way of reassembling that table from new events. don't worry about revising the handlers to take varargs, that's for later.
Is there some kind of info out there on how to use this mod , ay i wantedto create a new "assessment" I dont know how to do it , say dps/threat screen or anything of the like. It appears that you can make custom logs or whatever you call them , but nowhere that i have found does it explain in detail how to do this.
As far as I know there is no documentation on how to create new data views. The only thing I can really suggest is to copy an existing, similar view and play with it until you get what you want. Keep in mind that Assessment is far from fully functional since patch 2.4, so not even the default views (even the currently available ones) are all completely working right now.
First of all, im very happy by the work you guys have put into this in your sparetime, very nice job!
Secondly, are there any plans to incorporate the "death" function yet? That was by far one of the nicest functions in Assessment being able to see what killed people etc.
Tag functionality should be unchanged. However, if the view you're trying to create deals with data types that are not yet collected in 2.4, it won't work even if your tag syntax is correct. What specifically are you trying to do?
I've looked through this thread, and a few versions back on the wowace site, and can't find any recent versions with the flat death list... is this still one of assessments features and I've broken something, is there a line of code to re-enable this, or should I look elsewhere for this feature?
It hasn't been updated for the 2.4 combat log. I'm currently using Acheron for that functionality, although it doesn't display a flat list of deaths in the order they occurred... you have to pick someone to view death reports for.
Didn't test it in raid yet, will do that this evening.
I had to remove the "only kills by my group" option because the combat log only reports party_kill with source parameters when it's from the party and unit dead doesn't contain any source date.... so any comments by assessment-pro-codes greatly appreciated :)
To use it just replace the file in the modules directory and uncomment the line in the .toc file.
