This was discussed in one of the other threads (the DogTag examples thread maybe?) - someone came up with some reeeally long way that *might* work, but I don't remember if it ever did...
just went to ogrila for dailies, and Fade is not working properly.
I have Fade set to "Immediate Hide" on all four options (non-unit frames, unit frames, world objects and world units).
The immediate Fade works on things like players, mobs, mailboxes, etc.
Immediate Fade does *not* work on some World Objects though - so far i've found that fade doesnt work on Corpses (player corpses) and Quest things that you click (the simon game colored buttons). the tooltip sticks on the cursor for a good second or two even after mousing away. (tooltips stuck to "Cursor, Top" for both Unit Anchor and Frame Anchor).
thanks
edit: more info. Apexis Shard Formations (not quest related, but openable to loot a shard from) fade immediately.
edit2: even more info. i use bongos2 + omnicc. when mousing over anything on my Bars, the tooltip (attached to cursor) shows on my cursor like normal, but in the lower-right corner of my screen, a duplicate tooltip of the thing i'm mousing over flashes rapidly.
is cowtip still beta? ive only used it for a few mins today and already found so many bugs.
Something I can't figure out in Cowtip is how to get the colored backgrounds to work, mine are just black. I'd like to enable this feature but I can't figure out how or has it not been implemented?
Update on my problem, All Players have Blue backgrounds (regardless of faction - e.g. I'm alliance and they are horde) and everything else has black ones.
Since I haven't gotten a reply, let me ask another question: Is anyone else having this same issue or is it just me?
Hey all. Love the mod, and I have a feature request. I'd like to have an option to only have a tooltip appear if it has been valid for a period of time (.5 sec maybe). When I'm mousing around the screen it's distracting to have the tip window blinking on and off. I know about the key modifier option but that's kind of using a sledgehammer to drive a nail. I just want to be able to only see a tooltip if I have been over that button/unit/etc. for x time. Thanks!
I have got to ask, anyone have the box with "mouse-over" appear right after they actually get a player/npc/mob in a tooltip? The text/tooltip of whatever should be shown fades, then I have this mouse over box, which then also fades. It bothers me, it's not a big thing, but it still bothers me that it is there. It's like a scratch on a ferrari, it's not that bad, but still.
i just tried the mod for a few mins and did not have the same problem as you. the background colors were fine.
make sure you go to a contested zone for testing, don't test in shat or a home city :) that was my problem!
I wonder if I need to reinstall then, I've been all over the place -- I ran Scholo, Strat and DM this weekend to get my Epic mount and all the mobs had that black background instead of red like it shows in the appearance tab. Or is there something I missed initially that you must do to activate that feature?

yeah man i'd try reinstalling. delete the cowtip addon folder, delete the savedvariables for cowtip too. then install the newest version and see how it goes. i didnt have to do anythign special when i installed - just logged in and the background coloring was alread in place, even before i opened up any options.

Ok....how in the name of god did you get their spec up on your tooltip? That's awesome.
I've been using CowTips for just a few days and I absolutely adore it. I seriously stand in Org just mousing over people and grinning because I love the customization. (yes..I need to go outside. heh)
The LibDogTag-2.0 wiki page has not been put up yet, so I will just post them here until someone does it or I have more time.

LibDogTag-2.0 - add tag [TalentSpec], which works if you have LibRockComm-1.0 and the person you're checking it on also has it. It returns in the form of 0/41/20, not names yet (which if I implement, will be another tag).
and then...

Not sure if this is cowtip but after today's update, everytime i mouseover an item, it'll bring up my equipcompare window but the compare windows stay stuck on screen even after I move my mouse over the item. I disabled eqcompare, ratingbuster, and it still happens. Disabled cowtip and its ok, tried tinytip and don't get the same behavior on there, so not sure if its cowtip :(
Not getting any error messages but only thing that helps is disabling cowtip.
I might of found the problem with tekKompare. Lately I have been holding in the shift key when my borders go screwy to fix them. I just noticed that when I do, the tooltip shifts from being top anchored to bottom anchored. The tekKompare tooltip is anchored to the default tooltip differently from the Blizz compare tooltip. That could also cause garbaged borders I would think.
Edit: Hm well, I set tekKomapre's anchor to bottom instead of top, but no luck. It looks like Blizz's compare tooltip does not use a top anchor, it's a little offset from the top. I'm not sure where Blizz's tooltip anchors to.

Following up in case anyone else wanted to know.
All I had to do was remove the last part of the original line text - :Text(None) to get it to do what I wanted.
Suprised somebody didn't give me a /slap over that one. :)
