Anyone else getting a weird bug that when you loot with shift you get spammed like 3-4 items tooltips (that you're wearing) on the cursor? even if I loot grays or cloth its been nagging after 3.0.8 but I cant be sure if that patch broke it or was a day later; I get no error, just the spam. I tryed to deactivate item compare and it didn't work. I would post on general help but I guess its cowtip because when I deactivate it I don't get that bug. thank you.
PS: I deleted the cowtip's WTF sections and it didnt work
Edit: I just tested without shift (regular right click) and I still get spammed
Sounds like you might have another addon that helps you do item comparisons. Something like RatingBuster or something similar perhaps? Try disabling everything except CowTip and see if you still have the extra item tooltips.
Yeah I deactivated all but cowtip and it works fine, I guess I'll wait until the addon that its messing with cowtip gets updated and it gets fixed, I could check 1 by 1 but the list its too long. Thank you anyways.
Quote from page 78 - khariv & NimRock
"A long time ago I had this problem with cowtip and now it seems to have surfaced again. What happens is that my tooltip changes its scale and appears quite large. I have to go back into the config screen, where it is still set to .8, and change it to get it to reset to the correct scale. When I do this, it does in fact reset to the correct scale. Then, at some random future interval, it will start drawing itself large again. "
I've been having this same problem for a while it dives me crazy...only a /reloadui fixes it temporarily until the next login...then i must repeat the /reloadui thing... every time grrr.
Well, I looked at some other addons and patched up the following function in Appearance/Appearance.lua as follows
local function fillTmp(...)
for i = 1, select('#', ...) do
local o = select(i, ...)
if o and o:GetObjectType() == "FontString" and not o:GetName() then
tmp[i] = o
I can't reproduce the error now. Not sure it's a proper fix, but it doesn't error anymore. *shrugs*. I know I see the same code that's currently in CowTip in lots of other mods, but they may be doing better checking later.
1. I'm trying to get the Faction color to Green for Any Player that is from the/any Alliance Faction or I want to have the color Red when any EnemyPlayer that is from the/any Horde Faction and just white text for non Players, like NPC's etc.
I am trying to have it like this:
[if IsPlayer and Faction=("Alliance") then [Faction:Green] or IsPlayer and [Faction:Red] else [Faction] end]
but then it shows the Faction text from NPC's from Stormwind/Ironforge in Red color. Players From Alliance do get the Green Text Alliance behind "Faction:" in the tip window.
I actually just want to have green text displayed when someone is from the Alliance, no matter it's a player or npc and else (horde) then Red text is displayed.
2. I also have a question about the name of the guilds, can it also be like.. if the player is a horde player .. display the guildname in orange .. if the player is an alliance player display the guildname in blue.
3. I am trying to add more colors to CoWtip to use like Green, White, Black, Blue, Fuchsia.. I wanted to add Orange or something and did it in the Line Text with:
I'm having issues attempting to remove the information at the bottom of the tooltip shown.
I'm not exactly sure how to get rid of it. There's nothing in my dog tag area that points to this.
This is what I have as far as the code goes.
[(if [IsPlayer or [IsEnemy and not IsPet]] then ClassColor end) NameRealm]
Level [Classification] [Level] [if IsPlayer then Race else Creature end] [if IsPlayer or [IsEnemy and not IsPet] then Class:ClassColor end]
[(if Guild and Guild = 'player':Guild then Green end) Guild:Angle] [GuildRank]
Targeting [(if Target:IsPlayer or (Target:IsEnemy and not Target:IsPet) then ClassColor(unit=Target) end) (if IsUnit('player', Target) then '<<You>>' else Target:NameRealm or 'None' end)]
Health [FractionalHP:Short] [PercentHP:Percent:Paren]
[if HasMP then TypePower end] [if HasMP then FractionalMP:Short ' ' PercentMP:Percent:Paren end]
Separated each line and the code colored in dark red is on the right side of the 2 columns.
