After being a huge bagnon fan, I must say I'm very pleased with the direction this is going. Some suggestions:
As a mage, it'd be nice to have a search option for "conjured" which would include our mana gems, water, food, etc. This could be handy for warlocks as well for soulstones, healthstones, and the like.
I love the idea of having the bank in a tab as part of the main window. Even if it meant my main bags were larger, I could live with that completely for that added feature.
I agree with the others that I prefer the fadeout options for my searches rather than eliminating everything that doesn't match the pattern. It actually helps me learn my own bag layout when I move things.
Potential feature request: Add the capability to search by part of the tooltip? Like I'd like to be able to search for "Shadow Resist" and have all my SR pop up. Sure, I use itemrack for a lot of this, but it'd still be handy in the long run.
Other than that, must say I'm very very pleased with this mate. Look forward to your plans for it :)
BTW, explain the name... Combuctor? All I can come up with is a Deeprun Tram conductor who is highly combustable... I think you might need to get Mikk to make you a gnome mascot here...
As for the custom tabs == bookmarked searches... meh. You can just save searches in a dropdown in the search field, like your browser's recent addresses feature. What I'd rather see is the custom tab be "virtual" bags. You can drop items into it, they'd stay where they are in the real bags, but you could throw, say, all the tradeskill items you actually use in there. The generic tradeskill cat is half useless, and I don't think you're planning on putting PeriodicTable in here, are you?
"Can you go into more detail here? Do you mean how Bagnon fades out items, or something else?"
For the search bar the top, yes. Exactly (Peoii's reasoning). For the side tabs, how they're implemented now makes more sense because you're filtering with them, not searching.
"So to go into more detail: I intend for the side filter to be essentially 'bookmarks' for searches. You'll be able to pick an itemType, subType, and/or equip location, though I might also allow search text, too. If those don't work out well enough once 2.3 is out, I'll move on to periodic table categories."
I was leaning more towards poor man's item-rack. You could fill the tabs with things you actually wanted to find for quickly equipping. Sort of like the autobar of inventory addons. Each tab would be populated by a filter (like what is implemented now) or could be filled with custom queries.
To add items you simply drag and drop them on the tabs, to remove you would open the tab and drop them on the 'all' bag. (I think me and tekkub are thinking the same thing, I was making my sweet picture when he posted.)
"The search box will remain at its current position, since there would be dead space there otherwise."
How about doing something like this...
Green = toggles search bar (which hides teal, yellow and red and displays in current position)
Red = toggles side tabs / options button (an Outfitter like side menu would look great)/ opens your bank
Yellow = same as current bag button
Teal = gold count
Blue = rarity filter
I really hate that search bar. It looks so out of place...
I love it... always loved your mods Tuller. Been a bongos, ludwig, Sellfish user forever. I used to use both Sage UF (I use Pitbull now because prefer my UFs to be symmetrical and cast bar on top) and bagnon (use Baggins now for categories and integration with ItemRack).
So I love this mod.
Besides the things it obviously needs (definable categories and a moveable frame), I would like to see a limit on the amount of scaling a panel does. So, for instance, if I only have 1 of a category, I don't think I want a HUGE item staring at me. Maybe make the largest scaling be 4 across or something.
Other than that, this mod works great and is another great Tuller-eque mod... simple in function, tight, and without a lot of extra stuff no one uses.
I actually love the way it goes right now, it really is functional.
Thank you so much for your efforts, any of the requested features above/below depending on how you sort your forums sound great and will just add to this awesome mod.
As longtime ArkInventory-User, i recently switched to Combuctor, to test it.
I really like it, except for some things:
- bank-window to small
- i couldnt figure out how to make the font smaller. I have two big scaled buttons (scale=1.7 or 2) and it looks quite horrible with those huge texts
- no access to my bank-items outside of the bank (the bank-button in arkinventory, or in many other addons)
- Icons can become too big
Probably offtopic: Is there an addon that sorts my bagitems? I'm used to have the items "bundled" (e.g. poisons right next to each other).

He's working on making the bank window better, and the icon issue.
As for accessing your bank items when not at the bank, there is a keybind you can configure via the standard blizzard keybind screen. I have mine set to CTRL-B.

I guess one thing I might be interested in, and i has probably been mentioned is what Possessions does with WhoHas, I want to be able to hover over any item and be able to see which alts have that item already and exactly how many i have on multiple characters within the same server.
Looks really neat!!! I'll keep an eye on it for sure.I second a Fubar addon to see how full the bags are getting and to help with some functions...maybe make a lock/unlock function like Bartender3 does.
...I want to ... hover over any item and be able to see which alts have that item ... how many i have on multiple characters within the same server.
Yeah, I'd love that feature as well. And I might be completely silly, but I could swear that before I upgraded Bagnon-Forever, this was in, or am I seeing things again?
Combuctor works fine so far, I just have two observations to make.
1. It doesn't provide the item count functionality that the regular Bagnon does (i.e. mouse over an item and it will tell you how many of that item you have on all your characters banks and bags).
2. Because it's shown as a panel thing, I am unable to open my bags or bank while browsing the auction house.
Because my fubar has quite enough information overload already. It is appropriate as part of a bag addon. It is interresting as a fubar plugin but only if u want to use it that way.
They were requesting a Combuctor fubar plugin, not that the bag count be shown on the frame. If you want bag count on fubar, you can just use BagFu.

I was kinda thinking of some slash commands in a dewdrop from Fubar too..personally I don't care for slash commands and having the whole gui open if all I wanna do is lock/unlock ,*shrugs*....just me :)
nice, but to me, bagnon is cooler. less options, true, but clean. i think i've tryed about ALL invenroty addons, and no one can compete with bagnon.
so tuller, u already have all my love for bagnon. i'd like only to have it listed in wowace files for updating :)
i remember, anyway, there was a v-bagnon version that allows to have and create virtual categories bags, but with thelovely look and feel of bagnon original. that stuff i just miss a little.

I allways use 16 wide at this time because it fits verry nice in the bottom right cornor of my screen ;)

mr. plow works wonderfully for this.
Bag_fu does that? Why have it part of a Bag addon?

WTB: Stack / Compress button like Sanity2 :p
