I love this Addon, it's just what my frail memory needs.
There is one thing however... :) I d like to be able to add notes to people without having them in my friends- or guildlist. I have my friends list full of peoples Alts, just to be able to make AuldLangSyne notes for them, and I noticed that even if I delete them from the friendslist I still see the AuldLangSyne note in the tooltip when mousing over them. This is great, so now when I need a note on someone I add them to my friendslist, add the note and then delete them from my friendslist again :p
A bit cumbersome... a slashcommand like "/auldlangsyne add-note-for-target" or something would be great :)
Dunno if this is dead or not (the thread seems to be) but I've been having a problem since revision 13224. People I have in my friends list aren't getting info updates (guild / class / last online). Only data I have from previous revisions is there. When I nuked my auldlangsyne.lua in the savedvariables folder in an attempt to have auld rebuild the data, it was unable to, on multiple characters.
Rolling back to 12465 fixes all issues. Names update with guild / class info just like it should.
Also, I was wondering if auld could track more than 50 friends (and perhaps more than 50 to be ignored) which I know some older mods were capable of.

Yes, this isn't working properly.
Finally decided to give this another go after being unsatisfied with early versions of it compared with FriendsFacts. Installed r15217 directly off the SVN (with updated libraries). Made sure no ancient Auld SavedVariables files were present. Was able to import all my old CT_PlayerNotes without a problem (but the README included gives the wrong command for doing that; only the command help is right).
But it won't update any friend information, either automatically or after doing a /who. Which makes this mod pointless currently.
This problem is present despite all the display options being turned on by default (guild, colors, etc.). As well, the "compact" option is turned off (by default). Your friends appear (when friends are online) as they do in the frame without any mods present. Logged on and off with the same character---and-different ones--with no change.
Might it be those problems with AceHook 2.1 (just bug-fixed a couple minutes ago, but not turning Auld on again until I know for sure)? Or a problem in Auld?

I fixed that one last night, to the best of my knowledge.
(I had managed to accidentally disconnect the friendlist scanner when I was rewriting how I handled watching for friends logging in. Go me! Isn't the bleeding edge fun?)

Didn't think it was intentional...but you often never know :).
Kemayo,
Id like to request a feature for Auld. A friends / ignore sync feature between characters on the same realm. I don't mean sync with other people, but just with my other characters.
Ive used BuddySync (http://ui.worldofwar.net/ui.php?id=2547) for some time, but it doesnt appear to be getting updated for 2.0.

If friends/ignore sync isn't added, try FriendsShare on curse i think, it works well for this purpose.
But i like the idea to add it to ALS, with improved friends/ignore size :)
This looks like a nice mod. How large is the player note field in it, can you read a note of a few sentences in a window without scrolling? The screenshot on the Wiki page doesn't show it, so I'm curious.
I use the player notes that come with the latest CTCore, but I find its note field to be "size challenged." In other words, it's achingly small at only about 22 characters wide. I've noticed AuldLangSyne has been updated a few times lately and seems to be actively supported, will it play nice with CTCore loaded along with it. CTCore has a few other features I use that are implemented well, so I don't really want to dump it.
Nevermind, installed it and answered my own questions. AuldLangSyne's note field icon apears alongside CTCore's, so ALS's doesn't preempt CT's from showing and makes it hard to select the correct note icon.
It also appears that ALS's note window is quite small, and though it adds some nice additional features, I can't do without CTCore's, like blocking trade windows while I'm at the bank and chat timestamps.

Same bug here with r29220; something is wrong with friend sharing. First time the error has ever occurred. Haven't imported any CT notes. Been using an old saved variables file and just recently turned on friend sharing (Feb 27 or 28 or so was when it was first turned on) between account characters. The full error message, which has been occurring often (at least once per character logon):
"AuldLangSyne-1.1.25615\\AuldLangSyne.lua:847: Usage: GetFriendInfo(index)\nAuldLangSyne-1.1.25615\\AuldLangSyne.lua:847: in function <Interface\\AddOns\\AuldLangSyne\\AuldLangSyne.lua:846>\n(tail call): ?:\n<in C code>: in function `RemoveFriend'\nAuldLangSyne-1.1.25615\\AuldLangSyne.lua:811: in function `SyncFriends'\nAuldLangSyne-1.1.25615\\AuldLangSyne.lua:272: in function <Interface\\AddOns\\AuldLangSyne\\AuldLangSyne.lua:258>\n<in C code>: in function `pcall'\nAceAddon-2.0-28672 (Ace2):24: in function <Interface\\AddOns\\Ace2\\AceAddon-2.0\\AceAddon-2.0.lua:23>\nAceAddon-2.0-28672 (Ace2):698: in function <Interface\\AddOns\\Ace2\\AceAddon-2.0\\AceAddon-2.0.lua:675>\n<in C code>: ?\nAceEvent-2.0-25921 (Ace2):251: in function `TriggerEvent'\nAceEvent-2.0-25921 (Ace2):962: in function <Interface\\AddOns\\Ace2\\AceEvent-2.0\\AceEvent-2.0.lua:955>"
It seems AuldLangSyne doesn't hook the RemoveFriend function properly. AuldLangSyne expects RemoveFriend to always be called with a numerical id, but RemoveFriend can take both an id and a name
function AuldLangSyne:RemoveFriend(id)
local name = GetFriendInfo(id)
So if a script or macro calls RemoveFriend(name), AuldLangSyne will throw an error because it calls GetFriendInfo with a name, which isn't possible.

Since SVN will be going away for non-developers one of these days, I've also put it up on WoWI.

'/auld data ctimport' does not work. ct player notes mod is now part of the ct_core mod, maybe that has something to do with it?
and also, the wiki is incorrect - it says the command is '/auld ctimport'.
(yes i tried both :D )
thanks for any help!
i mean bump

I've committed a change that I think should fix that. Let me know if it keeps happening, though -- I might have missed something.
So if a script or macro calls RemoveFriend(name), AuldLangSyne will throw an error because it calls GetFriendInfo with a name, which isn't possible.
