This should get rid of the errors posted by Civrock. Untested, based on a post in this thread on the WoW forums. I'll test later and commit the fix if it works.
To be clear about cloring.
It primarily works.
The problem comes with "gender adapted classnames".
If the character is female - it is displayed gray.
Example: Mage in German Male - Magier -- Female - Magierin
Or Priester / Priesterin and such things.
I did'nt dig the code, but for the Guild coloring works.
AND in the api most of the functions give the "classic name" like MAGE or PRIEST independet of the client location.
in friend list, everyone name is listed twice like this:
FriendaFrienda
FriendbFriendb
and so on
This is with r78505 btw. It seems that the game is using a different format for displaying names, so Auld is adding information to the end of the line instead of replacing it.
Note that in the case of an offline player, it's more like:
Playername - OfflinePlayername
Delete and reinstall. If you use standalone libraries, either ensure that your updater is set to automatically download dependencies, or manually download LibFriends-1.0 and LibGuild-1.0.
Because another user already complaint several times about the "color bug" regarding the german version of the game I did not post but waited for an answer.
But it seems no one seems to bother. I scrolled through the pages of this thread an did not find an answer. So I repeat the request:
In the German version of the game client, there are male and female versions of the classes. There is no problem with the guild tab coloring in Auld Lang Syne. But on the friendlist, all female characters are colored grey. I suppose it is because some check does not return true due to the fact that the female class name is different from the mal one.
Will this be fixed? Can this be fixed? Is there anything we can do to help getting it fixed? It's really annoying.
Posting over and over about the same issue, on the same page, isn't going to get it fixed faster. The actual author of AuldLangSyne is MIA, so the only fixes being committed right now are by users. I've already posted (on this page even) that I will look into this problem when I have time, but I have several addon projects of my own that I am currently spending quite a bit of time developing, I raid, I work, I'm leveling a hunter, and the issue doesn't affect me as I don't play in the German client, so I'm sorry, but it will simply have to wait until either the author returns, or myself or another user with Lua knowledge has the time to try to fix it. :(
Well, I am not getting any errors, but it seems Auld is no longer working as intended.
Presently I have deleted my old SV to see if that will correct the issue. But no go.
Auld no longer sync's between characters, it no longer populates the friends list with Guild info after doing a /who. Showing when you last saw the person online. etc.
The only feature that still remains in place is the ability to make notes per character.
Any suggestions? Is there an alternative? About to pull down Tek's Friends with Benefits mod for the sync feature.
No, I already knew about that one so it was already disabled. But you can plainly see from the taint log that it's the Info module, which I just verified by disabling and reloading my UI.
correct me if im wrong, but i dont think this is due to an addon.
i also get messages like this , when a friend did a servertransfer or deleted the char.

It's doing the same thing it did at 2.4....complaining that LibFriends and LibGuild don't exist and thus not loading.
Thanks
It works for me without any error.

Unknown friend response from the server.
Friend removed because the character no longer exists.
It happens frequently, even after adding and clearing up my friends list, re-synching (ie turning off then on)... never happened before.
