* Ever lost track of the dozen conversations you were having simultaniously?
* Ever found out you missed important tells that you got mid fight?
* Ever wanted to know what person X was saying to you an hour ago?
Then Whisp is just the thing for you!
-------------------------------------
After experiencing all of the inconveniences mentioned above I decided to work out a better way of dealing with conversations.
Whisp (Ace3) keeps track of your recent conversations. When you open the chatbox to send a tell to someone it displays the current conversation with this person in a pane above the chatbox. The pane autohides as soon as the chatbox closes, e.g. after sending a message or aborting it. The pane is customisable / movable / resizable.
Naturally, Whisp also comes with a LibDataBroker (LDB) plugin. This plugin allows to quickly review all current conversations. Optionally you can open a seperate window with the full conversation text ready to be copied from.
Hope you will like this one!

at work now, so cant check it out just yet.
Will there be or is there a alternate chat window that popsup per conversation similar to WIM and Cellular?
If so, is it, or will it be Tab based for multiple conversations?
It's not a new chatwindow (there's mods for that, anyways). It pops up a "reminder" of what was the last X lines in the conversation.
I quite like it, like HeyFu with an additional reminder to stay level in tons of simultaneous whisper-conversations.
One thing I dislike after testing though: The frame ain't clickthrough.
If I could change the alpha + have it clickthrough when locked, it'd rock. Otherwise I run into positioning issues.
And ideally allow to customize the "fade-time" after you get an incoming whisper to pop the frame up, it seems to stay ~15 seconds or so, way too long for my liking, 2 seconds or so would be easily enough :)
@ Lewzephyr:
When you press 'r' to reply or type '/w <name>' it pops up a reminder with the last X lines of conversation you had with that person. It is not a messenger-like addon like WIM / Cellular.
@ KnThrak:
I will have to check about the click-through, but I'm 99.9% sure that whenever it's hidden it does not catch mouseclicks. If you want it to be click-through even when shown: I can add that as an option.
Mind that the pop-up *only* shows when you actually reply to a previous conversation. It automatically hides whenever you finish sending your tell, or abort it. I'm not sure what you mean by a "fade-time after you get an incoming whisper to pop the frame up".
The alpha of the frame is adjustable via the options menu by setting the background color.
Like it a lot because its simple and does its job.
Two suggetions though:
1. Option to not pop up the Window if you are in combat.
2. Would it be possible to add scrolling to the whisp-window so you could scroll through the entire conversation ?
Yeah nice replacement for whisperfu. Little bug I will take a screen of later but when I hovered over a name on the fubar tablet instead of the whisper tooltip appearing above it appeared below ( on top of the fubar and offscreen). My fubar is on the bottom. Maybe there is a option I just didn't notice yet.
Oh, then I suspect I had a bug there, btw.
I had it a few times (can't reproduce it when trying to, oddly) that I had the popup for a few seconds (I'd guess 15s, not sure) when I GET a whisper.
Found a screeny:
See how the popup is there despite the last whisper being incoming and there not being an open chatline.
Maybe it's some other mod interferring, ofc.
Last thing I'd wish for would be longer save-time, then. HeyFu has 1 week, I kinda like that for officer purposes :X
@Cathar: I'll add a hide-when-in-combat option. A scrolling frame is more a longterm project, it's on my agenda an I'll have a look at it when basic functionality has been settled.
@Morgalm: I've tested with minimap and all 6 possible positions on FuBar but can't reproduce the odd placing of the tooltip. Which version of FuBar are you running?
@KnThrak: Looks indeed like another addon is interfering. I will add a small check that should fix the issue. What other chataddons have you got running? Whisp works with Prat, but I haven't tested with others.
Only thing that could get implemented is, that when someone whispers me, the opened chatbox fades after X seconds, or gets a button to close it.
Only possibility at the moment is to dubble hit enter.
Prat was my main culprit, though I was just about to exchange it for chatterbox to test.
I also got umm... well, SimpleBossWhisperer, but wasn't in a bossfight, CraftyGnome and Auctioneer got auto-reply features too but the incoming whisper was neither of those queries.
LMAO!!! you get 1000 points for having a IWIN button with deathcoil or the deathcoil icon at least :)

I've just uploaded a new version to the SVN. A short summary of the changes:
- Fixed garbage collection.
- Chatbox pane is now click-through when locked.
- Option added to hide pane in combat.
- Fixed a bug with the pane not showing when a name was not correctly capitalised.
- Fixed bug with the pane not hiding when changing chat-target or channel.
- Pane should no longer unexpectedly show on incoming whispers.
- Code cleanup.
Two problems are still on my watchlist. Haven't been able to reproduce them, so would love to hear wether the new version solves them:
- The pane popping up unexpectedly when receiving a tell
- The FuBar tooltip showing off the screen
When I'm typing a new whisper the Whisp frame is _not_ in it's last place but instead maybe 50 pixel above it.
Definately not as it should be indeed. I will run some tests this weekend and see if I can reproduce and then fix the problem.
As a workaround: Choosing the reset-option will automatically align the whisp-pane to the chatbox according to the setting of 'grow-up'. This action resets the anchors and should be saved properly across sessions.
Here is a screenshot of the bug I mentioned before. Still not sure what caused it it was working fine then it started always putting the tablet on the bottom. Think it may have started when tablet had quite a few names on it...like maybe 20.
Edit: Also any chance you are thinking of adding a SV file to keep track of maybe the last 10 conversations or something like that? Only think I miss about whisperfu.
I'd like to make a suggestion (I thought I posted this already, but apparently not!).
Basically, it's a great tool for whispering people and remembering what your previous conversation was about. However, I find it a waste of space when you are currently whispering somebody, and whispers appear twice: once in your chat box and once in the Whisp box. It'd be great if you could add a "only display x seconds since the last whisper to the respective player" option. In which case, it wouldn't automatically display if you're currently whispering somebody.
What I mean by the whispers just repeating and not being useful is:

Awesome idea, anea. Testing it out tonight. ^_^
But it seems to have a small problem to remember it's position.
I'm doing the following:
1. Unlock the Whisp frame (and setting the option "grow up")
2. Position the frame and resize it to my chat input box
3. Lock the Whisp frame
That works flawlessly during a session.
Now I'm logging out and in again.
When I'm typing a new whisper the Whisp frame is _not_ in it's last place but instead maybe 50 pixel above it.
layout-cache.txt for that char is not write protected and the Whisp frame settings were saved correctly during logout.
Two screenshots attached.
Any suggestions?

Highend
