I just noticed on my WAU yesterday that there was a new add on named "Minimapster" which i tried and seems to be a light minimap add on.

After playing with it, i have the following remarks :
- i cant seem to be able to move the buttons around the minimap, is there a special move to do to manage to do it ?
- there is no coordinates label, is this planed to be added ?
- the text field showing the name of the zone, doesnt seem to scale properly

Maybe more features will be added later, I dunno. I tested it but it was too basic for me, so went back to my previous minimap addon.

Yeah I guessed that much. It's too basic for me, but good for diversity as there are other better featured minimap mods out there.

Would still have been nice to have a single option to hide all eventual buttons around the map. to keep it clean.

I'm tied to Chinchilla forever until someone comes up with a standalone blips addon.

If i could hide all the buttons i'd use this + blipstick for sure.

only thing I miss is a scaling option for the zonetext, or just let the zonetext scale relative to the regular scaling and it will be fine =)

Great addon, been waiting for it since the sneakpeak in the BT4 peak ; )

it has scaling now according to commit messages.

I think thats just regular minimapscaling, not of the Zonetext which is still not scaling with the minimap.

Tested it now and it still doesnt scale, which isnt odd since that commit was 3 days ago.

Excellent addon - minimaplistic and functional. Please do not add any features!

I'm one of those odd people who believes in smaller mods serving singular purposes. So I swear by Minimapster, and I couple it with BlipStick, and ButtonHide. ButtonHide takes care of the normal buttons; such as zoom, World Map, tracking, et cetera. If you want a mod that handles mod-added buttons, then there are plenty of selections to choose from, MBB isn't bad at all, for one.

So, MBB to hide addons buttons, ButtonHide to hide blizzard buttons, + minimapster, so 3 addons, for one thing, the minimap... :)

hm, might eventually switch over to this. using Chinchilla right now mainly because it lets me move the quest timer, pvp objective, and capture frames so easily. all frames that get in the way of my ui. what do you guys use to move such frames?

also wondering, will this have the feature to auto zoom out after a specified amount of time? really like this feature in map mods, although it might be considered bloat for this addon.

That logic could be applied to the World Map.

Mapster, HandyNotes, and InstanceMaps, all for just one thing; the World Map. Of course, you could go the Cartographer route, but that's the same, with the InstanceLoot, InstanceMaps, GuildNotes, Notes, [...] mods that exist for that.

At the end of the day, I think it's all down to personal taste. If you like having a super-mod that does everything and that works for you, then you should pick mods that suit that ideal. But there are plenty of examples of smaller mods serving parts of a bigger whole, such as the one I've listed above.

I do hope that it isn't added as a feature to minimapster as I really like the lightness of it and find that most of the additional features I want to add can be dealt with by small simple addons that do exactly what I need, such as the above.
