Diplomancer automatically changes your watched faction based on your location. It includes faction associations for over 80 zones and over 120 subzones, covering all continents and game expansions. It also recognizes faction champion tabards inside level-80 dungeons.
In Dalaran, youll watch the Kirin Tor.
Fly down to Dragonblight, and your watched faction will change to the Wyrmrest Accord.
At the Argent Tournament Grounds, youll watch The Sunreavers if you are a member of the Horde, or The Silver Covenant if youre a member of the Alliance.
Inside Utgarde Pinnacle, if youre wearing a Tabard of the Ebon Blade, youll watch the Knights of the Ebon Blade.
Head back to the Black Temple to finish up your Outland Raider achievement, and you'll watch the Ashtongue Deathsworn.
If you find yourself in a location without an associated faction for example, if youre a troll on a weekend camping trip in the lovely Redridge Mountains Diplomancer will watch your races faction. If you would prefer to watch another faction instead of your races faction, you can choose your own default faction.
Bug reports and feature requests should be posted in the ticket tracker on either download site. General comments, questions, etc. can be posted in this thread or on WoWInterface; comments are disabled on Curse.
Diplomancer works out of the box and does not require any configuration.
However, if youd like to choose a custom default faction, enable chat notification when your watched faction is changed, or tell Diplomancer that you dont want to watch factions youre already exalted with, you can access those options by typing /diplomancer (or /dm for short) or in the standard Interface Options window.
Diplomancer is compatible English, German (deDE), and Simplified Chinese (zhCN) locales.
If you play in a non-English locale listed above, you must separately download and install the LibBabble-Faction-3.0 and LibBabble-Zone-3.0 libraries to provide the correct names of factions and zones for your locale.
If you play in a non-English locale that isnt listed above, and would like to help make Diplomancer work in your locale, see my WoWInterface portal to find out how you can help!
If you encounter a problem while using Diplomancer, or find a zone or subzone that you think should be associated with a particular faction but isnt, please submit a bug report ticket to let me know.
Also note that I dont play any Alliance characters, so Ill only know if the data for Alliance factions and zones is incomplete or incorrect if you tell me about it!
Diplomancer was inspired by an old addon called SmartFactionWatch, by Charnow. I liked the idea, but not the implementation. I wrote my own small addon to watch factions, and used it for about a year and a half before releasing it here.
Diplomancer is free as in free beer, not free as in free software, and you may not include it in your compilation, or redistribute it in any other way, without first getting permission. See my WoWInterface portal, or the README file inside the addons folder, for the full license terms under which Diplomancer is released. Thanks!
While I can't offer translation help (enGB client here - or rather enUS, but edit to realmlist.wtf / config.wtf to be EU), I could try levelling my pally on the US woTLK.
I use Diplomancer, heck, I've been using it before you released it. (googlecode ftw!) And I honestly love it. I added a WatchedRep thing to my mStats, and together with Diplomancer I can see which ever faction's zone I am in :) It's a win-win thing. I have the top 15 addons show their mem usage (I don't have much mem increase tbh. Only Recount, Grid a little, BigWigs and Omen at times in raids) Diplomancer doesn't even show up. (Bear in mind, my TOTAL UI uses 17MB with all bells enabled) I can even show top 30 and have it not show up. It's a handy little nifty thing, and I am very glad you made it. :)
Translating subzone names. If you play in a non-English client, and can help translate subzone names (there are currently about 65 subzones tracked by Diplomancer, and I anticipate the list will grow to around 80-90 for WotLK), please post or send me a PM. You can also see the list of subzone names to be tracked in the sample localization file included with the addon.
So it tracks at a subzone level of granularity? I always thought that would be a better way to do a reputation addon, because of things like the Consortium NPCs in Nagrand, and Sporeggar versus Cenarion Expedition areas in Zangarmarsh.
It tracks both zones and subzones. Generally, if you're in Nagrand, it will watch the Mag'har (or Kurenai if you're Alliance), but if you're in Tulaman's Landing or the Spirit Fields, it will watch the Consortium instead. When you enter a subzone, the logic is basically: "Does this subzone have an associated faction? If so, watch it. If not, does this zone have an associated faction? If so, watch it. If not, has the user specified a default faction they want to watch? If so, watch it. If not, watch the character's racial faction."
If you play Alliance, you may notice that subzone data is a bit sparse; this is because I don't have any Alliance characters, so the Alliance data is mainly guesswork based on observation. :P
