well i was fooling around a little bit with my ui latly and i wonder how the location of chat frames is saved.
it seems that all settings i change in prat are changed for all characters (meaning all use the same profile - i guess on default) but chatframe locations are not saved in this profile.
Chat frame locations and channel colors are saved in chat-cache.txt on a per-character basis. You can find that file in World of Warcraft/WTF/Account/<accountname>/<server>/<character>/. Just copy chat-cache.txt from a character you like to all your other characters. The layout and colors will be the same for all of them. It's what I did. :)
Thanks, that was something I was about to start searching for myself. :)
There is also a module built into Prat called ChatTabs, this will let you hide your tabs.
well i think u called it "groupright" some versions ago in the tooltip..check out the screenshot for further information ;)
so when i type in /gr text to automatically write in the correct channel grid responds: Grid: [XXX] is not a valid option for /grid
Ah, right. You can also use "/group" as an alternative. If you'd like to keep it to something shorter, enable the Alias module, and alias it to whatever you like (eg, "/alias /sgr /group" will let you type "/sgr" instead).
Since I posted, I've spent the last 30 minutes trying to find a post/info on how/if I can disable the add-on message spam on load. Prat... so useful, so many features one day I'll learn them all :D
There's an Ace addOn called !StopTheSpam. It says it does exactly what you want.
For RP purposes, I'd like to be able to change the language my character speaks now and then. I tried using the ChatLangButton module, but I see no button showing up, and I can't find any chat commands to change the language my character is speaking to get around this. Am I missing something obvious?
Is there anyway to include the zone so you can tell what zone a person is in for channels such as the Trade Channel? If not, has this feature been considered?

option to colour alt names by class of main or alt if the PlayerNames module is
active (needs more testing); localised a couple of naughty vars
I would appreciate it if someone could tell me this is working properly now. I will test it properly later, but I don't have the PlayerNames addon installed normally and my brain's a bit tired just now.

A friend of mine already has a chat addon (and he wants to keep using the addon he uses right now), however he still needs an item linking addon like the chatlink module in prat, it it in some way possible to use the chatlink module standalone?

Sure, download the actual mod Chatlink from curse.

same issue as with lvl name and class, would need a /who request to be sent.. and polling the who system is tiedious and takes for ever, easier to shift click the name.
Showing zone does work for people you are grouped with however, and its a feature I once thought about adding (neat for bg's especially).
The substitutions module lets you add this info to your own outbound text. (It uses the same tokens, and some of the code from ChatFrameExtender2.)
If someone wanted to they could develop an external mod that worked like spam sentry and delayed all chat from unknown people, and once it collected the data it needed allowed the message to be sent to the chatframes (and make all the extra data available along with the chat event). If there was something like this, you could easily add support for it via a prat module.
I have a request regarding the chat-log module: is it possible to add a function to log only the chat from pre-definied people/groups; e.g. only from people that are in the friendlist?
Best regards
blyndis
I don't seem to get chat sounds from whispers, this may be because I'm using Cellular as I do get chat sounds from the other channels I've designated.
If it's because of Cellular, would it be possible to add chat sound support if using it? I ask this cause I'm frequently alt+tabbed and would like to hear if I'm being whispered for a group or anything.
Thanks.
I'm having the same problem, would be really nice if Prat would support this :)
Sounds like a request that should be made of Cellular and not Prat.
Also I think that the Cellular author maintains the original chatsounds addon too, i just converted it to a Prat module after asking him about supporting Prat.
