Bongos3 is a complete replacement for your main action bar that happens to come with a minimap addon. Due to the interface changes I've made, it'll only work with WoW 2.4 (aka, the current PTR). Bongos is intended to be both powerful and easy to use.
I want complaints, bug reports, thoughts, suggestions, and whatever else from you all. Most importantly, I want to know if this thing is easier to use/more logical than Bongos2 was :)
Things cyCircled needs to know
- Bongos3 action buttons are named Bongos3ActionButton<number>. No action button is guaranteed to exist at any given point of time.
- Make the thing work on the menu and bag bars! I know it can :P
Things translators need to know:
- All translations need work :)
Tuller, will Bongos3 reset your bar settings when adjusting the buttons/bars like in Bongos 1 and 2? That was the only reason why I could never stand to use them.

There's no setting for the number of action bars in Bongos3. You create a bar via alt click and dragging in config mode, and delete it via alt right clicking. The only effect adding/deleting a bar has on other bars is determining how many free actions are available when you want to resize a bar.
Resizing the bar will only mess with the ordering of buttons on the bar you're adjusting. You'll have to play around to see the effects there.
As a long time Bongos user I'm really looking forward to this... one question though... WHY? It looks like you might have done some cleanup, but what are the real benefits to the end users of going from Bongos2 to Bongos3? Is the code more effiecient? Are we getting any new features? I'm just curious.

The big change of Bongos3 over Bongos2 is the ability to create variable length bars. If you want a 2x24 bar, then a 1x12 bar, and a 1x1 bar, then a 4x5 bar, its possible.
Any chance of doing a show on mouseover option?
Bongos2 (and Bongos3) do this via setting a bar's auto fade opacity.
Other things people probably don't know about: You can bind keys directly to the spell book/macro panel, like in Trinity, and buttons can be set to show if the buff/debuff they represent is active on you or your target, like how I think its done in FlexBar2.

Not sure what you mean here, can you give us an example (I assume this would affect scorpid sting, hunter's mark etc.)

Its probably best explained with a picture:
Guess what buffs I have on me! :)
Also, it should probably be noted that Bongos3 works on the normal realms. The main options window stuff (the /bongos command) has just been moved to the new interface options panel.
strange..
i create 4 bars, but i just can select 2 bars (1 and 2) for stance or modifier..(and it switch with bar4)
i restart wow.. nothing changed
btw i try it on live realm.. perhaps that is the problem
Is there a way to turn off the snap to bar effect for just one bar or two.... I like the feature for my actual action bars.. but would like to more manually set my Pet / Bags / etc bars.
I see the sticky command, but that appears to effect all of bongos.
one other request.... when using the slider bars for each bar (i.e. scale) could you make the actual # selectable and editable by the keyboard. When trying to fine tune a frame, its often difficult to stop at the exact spot you want.
by the way, mod is working smooth... no errors etc.
Tuller, I'm really looking forward to testing the new aplha version!
Any possibility of being able to change the colour / thickness of the buff and debuff notifier (where the edges of eg. the buffs you have on yourself light up green)?
Sometimes I have a hard time seeing the green colour, when I have a certain ability on a small sized bongos bar.
Additionally, I would love to see an option to allow the above version also look at the icons so that eg. Demonic Sacrifice could show up as if the buff is on me, even though the actual buff on me is called something else. Flexbar does this by looking at the icon and deciding that it is the same. I reckon that this gives some problems with other buffs that have the same icons as spells etc., but a checkbox or something like that would be awesome.
Why?
Is it really needed to include a minimap addon in a actionbar addon?
Of course you can always just disable the minimap addon, rollbar, stats and what other irrelevant stuff that you included.
Have i missed something or isn't Bongos an actionbar addon?

Bongos itself is just an that provides container objects called bars for sticking stuff in. Bongos AB is an action bar addon that happens to use Bongos. The stats, cast, and roll bars were all created to be used with Bongos AB for one reason or another. A few years ago, Bongos and Bongos AB were the same addon.
Bongos Minimap was created because clean minimap broke, and I wanted a lightweight replacement. I don't really think it should be included in the main download, and may remove it since Bongos Skinned Minimap exists.

I don't check the name of the action, I check the name of the spell that the macro, item, or spell represents :) Its a bit better than checking the icon, especially in the case of trinkets.

Fucking A.
Sorry, had to get that off my chest while I psych myself up to redo all my action bars once again. :)
I am looking forward to Bongos3 though. Really.

Cool. :) Then I'll have to give Bongos3 a try.

That's not how it works in Bongos3 :)
You create a bar, then set how many action sets the bar should have. Then you go to the stances tab and set which set to switch to.
Actually its a little finer grained than that :) Bongos3 works on 2.3, except for Bongos_Options.
Wow, I had no idea. Thanks!

Thanks for all the work.
The sticky thing...perhaps I can have a modifier override?
