I've got a small feature request. I would like to be able to configure the OpenBid system so that if a someone has not placed a high bid on a item before the 10s mark hits on the closing timer, they wont be able to bid within the last 10s.
I assume the problem you're having is people are bidding at the last second before bidding ends and people don't like it. The easiest solution is to just tell people to bid higher, if someone sneaks a bid they still have to pay the price.
Your idea of limiting bidders in the last 10 seconds to only those that have bid might help a little, but you could still have people doing last second bids among those who have been bidding.
Another possible solution is to have the bidding time extend by 5 seconds every time someone bids. However, people could potentially bid forever. Maybe the following solution is the best:
* After any bid the bidding time is set to 5 seconds if the time left is less than 5 seconds
* After the normal bidding time you can only bid once.
In other words, after bidding expires you only get to bid once. Every bid will refresh the timer to 5 seconds, giving you time to respond to a bid.
Hmm interesting idea, prefer the limited version to the +5 whenever someone bids after 10s simply because a 60s bid window could just get retardedly long.
I've got no problem with people sneaking bids in at the last second or so provided they've made their interest in the item known; which is why I wanted the limited to be placed on people who have placed a high bid before the 10s mark. That way people can still try to ninja, but the other people bidding know there's some competition for the item rather than 1 person placing a min bid and then someone else blindsiding em in the last few seconds.
Our current 10s rule reads as follows:
Quote from "Elvenbane" »
10 second rule
If you have not placed a high bid on an item prior to the 10s mark you will not be eligible to win that item. This includes when 2 of the same item drops. You must make your interest known on EACH token if you wish to ninja bid at the end on either.
Being able to manage it from an addon side rather than the officer in charge arbitrarily watching to see high bids would be nice, that way we can go afk while a bid is going on or deal with other stuff.
Ok, I'll implement your idea when I have time. However, that probably won't be til after spring break. Would you want this feature controlled through the custom.lua file or through the DKPmon System's options menu? The advantage of the custom.lua file is you can share it and everyone will have the same settings/policy, but then again it's a pain to share.
I am having a peculiar issue. I have been using DKPmon BossAuction for awhile, and like it. However I needed to re-intsall the add-on tonight. The problem is, when I log into the game, and I go to my DKPmon, it does NOT give an option to select DKPmon BossAuction like it used to. I have updated etc... I have tried deleting re-installing etc.... If anyone has a suggection of somthing I should try I would be grateful, as I am out of ideas.
a quick question is there some way to set it so it will only show when the timer hits 30, 20 and 10sec left until the bidding is closed since it will make it easier for my guild if they dont know that there is 4sec left and so on since we have some ppl that like to wait until the timer hits 4sec then bid they will ofc still be able to do it but they will have to time it them self.
i dont know if this is easier or harder then to add the "10 second rule" but if it is easier then it will fix the problem until you have had time to code it in.
I checked Boss auction. I like the gui style of the Open/Silent bid part:
when I click on "point awards window" I get the option to click Timed Awards to start it.
Ideally, I need ONLY this function, but in the Percent DKPMon style (since we run a50 % dkp system)
Although my coding knowledge doesn't go very far, is there an easy way to make this happen, or does it require another module (or someone already did it? )
