In any event, I really am very busy. I got a grown-up people's job recently, and it has slowly but surely been sucking the lifeblood out of me. In any event, I have an idea for Parrot 2.0 in my mind's eye, but I lack hours in the day and energy at the end of it to continue some days.
I appreciate your support. While Parrot is non-functional, feel free to peruse any of my competitor's options (SCT, MSBT, Blizzard's FCT) as long as you promise to take a look at Parrot 2.0 when it's done.

I installed SCT and SCTD today as a stop-gap since Parrot was an ex-Parrot. It truly drove home to me just how superior Parrot is, and how much easier it is to configure to my likings.

Yeah, I used SCT for many happy months/years, but decided to try Parrot to see what it was like when it first came out, because there were just some things in SCT that I could not fix. Namely, at the time, I was BM, and it was frustrating me to no end that I could either turn my pet's damage off or I could live with a section full of scrolling spam that kept overflowing its normal boundaries because his attacks were so fast and there was no way to filter it.
I was surprised that Parrot came out of the box pretty much configured just how I would have done it. The test mode helped greatly with the things I needed to change, and I just preferred the overall "look" over how I had things in SCT. I am not looking forward to reconfiguring SCT. :)
As a huge fan of your addons, and a user for quite some time, I'd be happy to help where I can. I haven't done much coding, but if you just need someone to do some typing or bug testing or anything like that, feel free to drop me a line...
For those of you who want more configuration than SCT allows, check out Mik Scrolling Battle Text (MSBT) - you can get it on wowinterface.
@Torano: Parrot hasn't been touched. What you saw is a library update. It's currently on revision 60900.45 (that's 45 times that the zip has been rebuilt with updated libraries).

Seerah, thank you for that explanation - very helpful. I didn't realize library updates trigger an update for an addon.
Just spent an hour trying out MSBT and SCT. Parrot not getting updated is the worst thing of 2.4. However I find it strange that some things work in parrot still, for instance Enter/leave Combat. I simply can't get used to MSBT/SCT's way of setting the mod up and quite frankly I find them both a bit cheap compared to Parrot.
@CKK: Would you allow someone else to update parrot so it functions in 2.4? I'm thinking maybe Elipsis or someone else for that matter if they have the time. If only to update it to work with the basics.
You don't know what you've had until it's gone. This is the undeniable truth in this case :/
While Parrot not being updated is pretty big, its not nearly as bad it could have been; i.e. Pitbull or Cowtip not being updated. Pitbull especially forms the heart of my UI and I never really got used to AGUF. At least in the case of a Scrolling Combat Text mod, we have very capable alternatives; and while they may be slightly more difficult to set up, they do what they advertise fairly capably.
Hope you get the time to update Parrot ckk, <3 this and all ur other mods.
Switching to SCT made me realise actually how bloated Parrot is. I won't be using Parrot 2.0 when it's released, good luck with your "grown up" job.
Other way round for me. SCT confuses me like crazy. :D And I am missing stuff, like messages how many of an item I already have when picking something up. Parrot may be bloated or not - it never gave me any performance issues, and I liked it out-of-the-box. Spent half the evening configuring SCT yesterday - the philosophy of what goes where is totally different. And I did not really like the result I arrived at (or rather, gave up at). I just loved "left is incoming" and "right is outgoing". This is possible with SCT, but took me some work. And when I got it about right, I still could not get the text to flow nicely along my HUD. Going to try MSBT today, screenies of that one look more similar to Parrot. :)
This is in no way a SCT-flame, btw. It works great, and I am sure that the modular approach is something that many people will love. But just like HUDs, flowing combat text is something that has no perfect solution - depends too much on personal preferences.
I installed SCT but it was impossible to configure...
Installed sct_options, okay so I can configure it now but it's missing stuff...
then sctd to get more options; still not enough...
then SCT_Cooldowns close but missing stuff still...
then sct_spellready; still not exactlyright...
Crap on a stick! I have 5 mods doing a half ass job that Parrot once did perfectly for me.
Uninstalled off them
... reinstalled broken Parrot
... came here to beg for an update.

Your a tard mate, maybe if you had a "grown up" job, you'd realize what CK does for free is your choice to use or not, but no one cares if you think it's bloated, or if it's awesome. Authors everywhere hate your kind, and the guy who wrote SCT think your a tossa 2.
Granted, I do like this (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WGoi1MSGu64), so *shrug*.

I can certainly appreciate real life demands. I'll be crossing my fingers for a break in your schedule though. ;)
