i tested it, very good for my taste
the only option i need is store current items in memory untill window is closed - currently, as soon as you move out of regular inspect range, tooltip dissapears and you cant link items anymore.
i really dont need total bonuses from items or some major data storing, but this is what i need really bad.

finally saw the To Do =)
gonna wait till that, great addon currently working fine no bugs found.
I have just seen your addon on wowace.com/files and your addon is exactly was I was looking for! After wow2.0 there was no alternate to those addons like GoodInspect, AceInspector or Neatspect.

Todo:
Cache itemids so you can continue inspecting someone's gear until you close the inspect window
Thanks for pointing out NeatSpect to me, Gixx. I had planned to work on Voyeur this weekend, but my plans changed and I'm about to head out of town for a New Year's party, so I'll look at it early next week. It might give me some inspiration or show me a different/better way to do things than my current work in progress.
Hm. I would understand if this feature is something which
would not be something you would put in Voyeur, but just
incase, I'd like to request the feature to inspect not only
enemy players and show their model as is possible already,
but to also inspect every other mob, as I love using Super-
Inspect at the moment to check out animals and NPCs when
I come across interesting ones, bosses too.
First of all, i have to appologise, if my idea is impolite, or silly.
I have already read that you weren't planning to do a SuperInspect replacement...
But there are 3 very nice add-ons atm:
- Voyeur
- Fizzle
- Item Bonuses
And i thought... what if you could unite all 3 in a single one, which could handle both character frame and inspect frame, and provide quite a useful information? This would be very nice add-on to have.

I'll take a look at it to see if I'm wrong, but I'm reasonably certain that the Blizzard Inspect UI will only work for players. SuperInspect hooks the inspect function call and substitutes its own entire frame instead. I might be wrong and if inspecting mobs is doable, I'll consider adding.

Maybe a modular design is the way to go, then someone else could write Voyeur_ItemBonuses?

I'd be open to that concept. I'd have to figure out (if someone wants to pitch in to help edumacate me on it, feel free) how to redo things to work for a modular design for this. After I finish my original intended functionality.

It's very unlikely that I'll be doing ItemBonuses for/with Voyeur. After I finish my intended functionality, I'll look at maybe redoing things a but to make a module/plugin system workable so that someone else could write it.
For Fizzle . . . it works with Voyeur already exactly as it does with default Inspect, as far as I can tell. Why try to integrate that, when you can just use Fizzle (or not, as you/the user chooses)?

As i've already said, it would be very nice "complete" add-on, with a full complex of needed features. So people wont have to download 2-3 add-ons for a such simple thing as Inspecting. Imo that would be smart to unite add-ons that serve same thing into one.
But they don't do the same thing. Fizzle shows item quality borders and durability. Voyeur places rank/guild etc in the inspect frame and holds it open. That some of these happen to be applied to the same frame is immaterial.
They handle inspecting, self or target. Much better to have one addon handling everything, than to have load of add-ons handling each one part of the same job. Imo.
That's where our opinion differs. My goal with Voyeur is to "fix" Inspect, adding some functionality I felt is lacking and should be there or fixing a couple of annoying behaviours. I tend to prefer a modular approach, rather than a large, "complete" attack. Sometimes, that "complete" option really translates into "overkill" when someone is using a mod for only a fraction of its functionality. Whereas with smaller, more focussed scopes, we're free to pick and choose what functionality we actually want.
Different opinion/philosophies. Feel free to branch Voyeur and make a more "complete" version if you'd like.
Well, I give up :) No point to argue with the mod author.
Still, i think it's better to have more universal add-on and be able to turn off things u dont need, than to have "focused" one and dont be able to turn on things you need.
Nevertheless, i will still use Voyeur (well done thing, man ;)) and Fizzle (also nice thingie), and miss ItemBonuses for the target inspect frame.
Updated:
Can u add guild rank number after rank name? Like "Guild Master (Rank 1) of Xxxxxxx"?
It can be very useful in case guild's officers are called not "officer"'s.
Very nice addon. I only have one small request. Could you make an option to toggle the movable inspect frame? I prefer that mine stays locked in its default place. Thanks! :-)
chiefcastor - I'll look into it. My progress on this has had a bit of a hitch, as I'm suddenly in the job market again, and that's consuming a lot of my time (and with expansion and leveling to 70 coming up next week . . .).
neenee: Probably not going to happen. While I'm not positive on this, I've not been able to trick the Blizzard UI into inspecting anything but players. I'll take a closer look at how SuperInspect does it, but I suspect very much it only manages it because it creates its own entirely new frames. I wish to avoid that with Voyeur, I'm just trying to modify/extend the already-existing Inspect frame/UI.
If I have to start writing my own frames for stuff, I almost might as well just port SuperInspect. :/
Now, if someone knows a trick to allow inspecting of mobs/npcs that I've not been able to figure out they'd care to share with me, I'd be happy to try to implement it.

Neatspect did the same thing you are looking for before the patch was out. Maybe http://ui.worldofwar.net/ui.php?id=2505 helps you to do that!

No promises at this point, though.

Thanks regardless of the outcome ;)
