Proximo 2.0 is ready for Beta testing. I have created it in a new folder called Proximo2 for testing only, in release it will still use Proximo. This way you can have both installed at the same time and revert back to Proximo 1.4 if you are having too many issues with 2.0. Make sure you only have 1 of 2 enabled at the same time, and 2.0 is incompatible with 1.4 users.
Major changes for 2.0:
- Converted to Ace3.
- Added optional Race Icon.
- Added optional important but limited buff and debuff tracking.
- Added options to lock frame, grow frame size, and grow frame up
Localizations need lots of work, but all files are there =)
Please post all bugs and issues here, not in the original Proximo thread.
2.0 will not work with 1.4 users and vice versa. You could run them together I think successfully, but the syncing would not work. In fact it would probably be best to turn syncing off if you want to try that.
I have a small request about talents : would it be possible that Proximo2 shows textual, major talent tree (as DogTag allows to) ? It's generally more helpful than the raw point distribution.
Adirelle, that subject has come up for Proximo before and I don't plan to add it. That information is something you have to maintain and calculate outside of the built in wow functionality and its not something I feel warrants that. I generally feels its better to learn the talent trees if you are doing arena anyway =)

Isn't that what options are for? For example, you probably generally feel it is better for frames to grow downward based on your own UI setup, but you have now included the option to grow frames up for those who generally feel otherwise. :)
Yes, but put simply I don't want to have to maintain that information inside Proximo. If you don't know the talent trees for a class, what good does it do to know which school they have the most talents in? =)

Because not being a master of every class, I don't always remember which tree is first, second, and third for other classes. Notoriously, I couldn't begin to tell you what spec a 1/49/11 shaman is. But if I saw an enhancement shaman, I'd want to keep it rooted or slowed. If I saw a restoration shaman, I'd want it stunned or incapacitated. If it were an elemental shaman, I'd want to run away as fast as possible. :)
They are alphabetical order =P (Elemental/Enhancement/Restoration) etc...
However, I think I may have found an easy way to to give that option without having to maintain the "mapping" of spec name to spec levels. If I can make that work I will make it an option.

I'd suggest if a tree has more than 30 points, add its name (or abbreviation) and a "/" to the front of the string. If a tree has more than 20 points, add a "/" and its name (or abbreviation) to the end of the string. Otherwise, don't add the tree's name to the string at all. Then trim any "/" off the start and end of the string.
P.S. -- Thank you for the alphabetical tip! That will make things so much easier to remember! :)

This obviously doesn't work for foreign languages :( But the point of my request is what Nandini said : I don't remember the tree order of every class but given the name of the main tree I know which strategy to use. Actually I added the talent tree to my pitbull target frame, it's priceless.
There is a lot that has to be fixed for 2.4, however I didn't want to wait for that to get 2.0 moving. I'm working on Eavesdrop and SCT for 2.4 right now.
2.0 attempts to track and time important buffs and debuffs (sheep, blessings, etc...). The only way to do this in Arena reliably for all enemies is by watching the combat log. Proximo will update the combat log range when you enter Arena and set them back to previous values when you leave.
In WoW 2.4 this process will change but who knows with 2.4 will release =) I am on top of it with my other mods so Proximo will be updated accordingly.
Also, the process for getting a spec name was a simple so I will include that option in the next update/commit to the 2.0 beta. It will simply list the talent spec name that they have the most points in. Anything other then that and you would best be served seeing the talent numbers.
I'm not updating at the moment due to the fact Proximo 1.4 and ProxDim do a perfect job when working together, but is this what Proximo 2.0 will be doing basically in just 1 Addon? Because if so that would be amazing, and if not... Dw gave permission for someone to take over his code, which if you would, would be amazing :D
I don't think they will be the same thing. ProxDim tracks diminishing returns, not that actual length of the debuff (as far as I know). Its a little more sophisticated than what I want in Proximo's base, but I think it will continue to work fine with Proximo 2.0 with minor tweaks for frame adjustments.
Actually, it looks like ProxDim does more than I thought =) I knew I had looked at the code before briefly but didn't realize what all it does. Proximo 2.0 will have a very simplified version of what ProxDim does for debuffs, but it will also show some important buffs and their PVP durations also (Ice Block, Blessings, etc...) I would say if you like what ProxDim does now you will probably not be as happy with what Proximo 2.0 will do, but it could possibly be enough for your needs.
If someone else dose not update ProxDim for Proximo 2.0 then I will consider updating it after Proximo 2.0 and WoW 2.4 is in release. However, I would suggest checking out Afflicted also.
I don't really like Afflicted due to how it displays the information, I'm pretty sure you could understand that with how cleanly ProxDim displays the info (right next to the unit it concerns). Pretty much every CC player I play with absolutely loves ProxDim due to the fact that it tracks their Important Debuffs, the duration, and their diminishing returns right next to the unit it concerns on Proximo.
Anyways, I don't mean to not say anything bad before I have even tried Proximo 2.0 (Which I am sure I will love) but if you could update ProxDim or build it into Proximo 2.0, you would receive a lot of love from a lot of people :)

Can 2.0 share data with 1.4? Wondering if I'll be able to test before getting teammates to snag it.

For the method you could look at how DogTag works (see http://svn.wowace.com/wowace/trunk/LibDogTag-2.0/Modules/Talent.lua).
Which combat log range bits ??
