This mod will scan an open trade skill and print out a list of missing recipes. All trade skills are supported currently, including rogue poisons, and beast training for hunters (will be adding the final hooks in a later patch).
You open up a trade skill window (ie: enchanting) and type '/arl scan' or you can click on the button that is attached to the trade skill window. Make sure all headers are expanded, and the 'Have Materials' button is not checked. Results will be printed out to the chat frame, or into a separate window.
There are a few options enabled to limit which recipes are currently listed. To access these, type '/arl filter'. The current options are:
You can also sort the display of missing recipes. To access the sorting, type '/arl sorting'. The current sorting options are:
Unsorted (how I've entered it into the database)
You can also use a GUI output or output to the default chat frame. To access the use of the GUI, type '/arl display'.
I will be adding more options in the future.
How to help:
Report bugs and any problems that you encounter please let me know here. Also report any missing recipes.
Where to report bugs:
Report them in this thread for right now please. As well suggestions on what to do with the mod. :)
1. Add a popup window to display the results, formatted nicely (colors, bolding etc) - purely because it's a pain looking at the chat window, and nothing formats correctly, due to me having a poor config'd chat window >_<
2. Add a button to the tradeskill windows that just auto scans on click (I see this is already in the todo post).
Add GUI to mod, which adds a single button on the trade skill window which you will click to scan. This pops up a window attached to the tradeskill window listing all the recipes you are missing, which can be expanded on to show the detailed info on how to obtain the recipe.
I have recently written a tradeskill window replacement and for the upcoming release and thinking of a function like the following for adding in other mods:
-- Adds a button to the tradeskill window. The button will be
-- reparented and placed appropriately in the window.
-- The frame representing the main tradeskill window will be
-- returned in case you need to pop up a frame attached to it.
Since you're the type of author who would be using this API, I'm wondering if you had any opinions on it? Too much, too little?
Was using 'TradeJunkie' to do this but that is also outdated, might want to take a look at it for gui ideas however.
Could i suggest integration into manufac would be a great idea, adding a 'Unlearnt' menu into manufac would be a great and simple way of adding a gui (not to mention it doesn't scan while you use manufac)
Adding a 'This mob drops <recipe>' on tooltips of mobs that drop recipes your missing might be an idea for those that are dropping only on select mobs.
If this works for me it should be a very helpful addon. I seem to be the only one with a problem though, WoW keeps saying that there is a dependency missing. Is there any idea what that dependency might be?
The problem I see with it is how I obtain recipes, but having an API that would let me hook into it would make compatibility in the future a lot easier.
Drop me a line when you're ready to tackle this. We can discuss what kind of API calls you'd like to see in Skillet. Should be no trouble adding in fairly generic methods to query the list of recipes, et al.
