Fisheye is just indexing my gcode SVN. The gcode link you posted are download I've specifically released. You know, that thing people keep saying about how WAU should pull down tagged tested releases instead of trunk alpha/betas? Yea, gcode downloads (and WoWI) are my tested versions :)
EQCompare doesnt compare to items that I view in other people's inspect window.
Is there a setting for that ? I changed all available ticks in Rock config bur still no result.

Are you using an inspect addon? I use Examiner and TekKompare and it doesn't work either - I think it's Examiner's fault but the author won't make it work because you can hold shift to see the default Blizz UI's compare tooltip.
What was the point in "downgrading" the ToC for this? It may not have been updated, but it still works, but now it is listed as "incompatible".
It would be understandable if the "suggested alternative" were something that is available in the ace2 SVN, but as far as I can see it isn't.
EDIT: I note also that the "suggested alternative" was last updated (on wowinterface) in June 2007....

Edit the toc yourself to 20300, no big deal, anyway EQC is still working perfectly.
Everytime i tried to switch to TK with or without skin (skinner) i had weird borders so...
You don't want to know how hard I'm laughing about the complaint that tekKompare hasn't been updated since June 2007. Guess what EQCompare hasn't gotten an update other than translations and toc bumps for a year. It has lots of bad code that has not been updated for WoW 2.x and I'm not talking about minor little 'oh if I was to write this I would do it this way' stuff but serious 'needs to be rewritten for WoW 2.x because its incompatible' code. I put the toc interface number below 20000 so it wouldn't show up on the files.wowace.com listing anymore so new people won't install it. If you seriously want to keep using EQCompare then go ahead and edit the toc yourself, its not like you'll have to do it more than once since this addon is dead.
Well i would really love to switch to TekKompare even if as long as i have no errors i have no reason to do so, but TekKompare just doesn't work for me, i mean, the compare tooltip shows up correctly but has some weird borders no matter if i apply skinner to it or not, if u want i could post a screenshot.

Yes, I'm using examiner atm. Maybe that may be the reason.
If EQCompare and TekKompare is not being maintened nor updated atm, what would you suggest ? I like to stick to Ace2 fw but cant see and alternative atm for that.
tK is not abandoned, it has not need any updates. Border issues are caused by Cowtip, not exactly something I can fix. I don't do any fancy majicks, just set the compare tip and position it, same thing the default UI does.
Users of my mods know that, the smaller they are, the less often they need repairs. tK is roughly on screenful of code.
Good to know, but unfortunately i use Cowtip appearance module to scale down my tooltips to 0.75, without that they're just too big, so i kinda need that module :/
Switched to tekKompare but still cant see compare equipment inspect window without pressing the shift button.
In addition to that, I want the tooltip of my current equipped item to show a little below the item that my cursor is currently on like when I press shift. I think that switches to Blizzards default compare thingy.
Is there a way to set this up in tekKompare ? Thanks.
I get tK tips just fine in the default inspect window, which means that some other addon is making that go away, which is, again, something I'm not responsible for :P I will tweak the position a tad, it was something that never really bothered me enough to go find the value and fix it.
Oh and, if you'd like a comparison:
tK: 3.47 KiB, everything
EQC: 22.66 KiB core (with locales), 283 KiB libs
Sure it's not much difference if the libs are reused in another addon (*only* a 6.5x difference in size)... but mine is tiny even if it's the only addon loaded. Hell, I think tK is even smaller than the default UI's compare tip code.
Also I'm pretty sure the ranged slot comparison in EQCompare is somewhat broken due to my fix a long time ago to prevent it from tainting and completely breaking some macro functions. And the size difference between EQCompare and tekKcompare doesn't have anything to do with features, its all about EQCompare being written for WoW 1.x and not using functions available by the default ui making it have to do all the calculations on what slot an item should be compared against and frankly very poor design of doing that because of the workarounds needed in WoW 1.x due to api inconsistances.
The version of tK before they added the compare API was not much bigger. The main file was roughly twice the size it is now (was 102 lines, now 61)
The primary difference is, tK has no config options, because it doesn't need them. That cuts out the need for libs to hand DB, config, etc. I don't need OO or Hooks (hooking manually is much faster and in the end safer for me)... No locale needed (tho EQC's is rather small)... Also no support for all those addons that create their own tooltips needlessly... GameTooltip works just fine for GUIs people!
Why did you actually revert TOC? The add-on works way better than suggested substitute, i've never had any troubles with it unlike tK, which causes errors with half the mods i have...

Well found a workaround, leave appearance module turned on but select borders to "none", so welcome TK, only issue is the same as posted above, no compare from the inspect frame without clicking shift :(

Also, for those looking for a third option, there is an addon on curse-gaming.com called EquipCompare (not to be confused with the depricated EQCompare on the WowAce SVN). I don't know how it compares to EQCompare or TekKompare. TekKompare works fine for me with Cowtip and Skinner, with the caveat that I have to hold down Shift to see the default UI compare tips for Examiner's inspect frame.

If an "improved inspect" mod is getting in the middle, all bets are off though.

And heres a link to another place to get tekKompare http://code.google.com/p/tekkub-wow/downloads/list but its still only from June 2007.
EDIT: I wanted to svn delete this (after tagging ofc) but I'd probably get even more shit for that....
.. turn off cowtip's appearance module.

Ranged as in the gun slot, or the ammo slot?
