There's noone to see the problem, Eompare is no longer being updated so if the problem is in EQCompare's code you will have to fix it or convince someone to start maintaining it, or you can switch to TK or use blizzards UI method.
Ah thanks, didn't realize nobody is maintaining it anymore. I'll find a replacement.
Try TekKompare. It's available on wowinterface.com.
The people that still use EQCompare like the simplicity of it and don't wish to use TekKompare
The poster mentioned finding a replacement so I offered one. I don't really think my response should have prompted an EQC vs. TK battle but as long as I'm here...
I personally don't like the hover feature and want to click on the item.
What's wrong with Blizzard's default then (other than you have to push the shift key)? I used to use EQCompare but the fact that nobody's updating it prompted me to switch. And from what I can tell, TekKompare is just as simple, but then I like the hover. You might actually try asking Tekkub for an option to click in addition to the hover. /shrug
1. No where do I read them asking for a replacement in the post
2. There is/was no reason for a EQC vs TK battle as my comments stands (those that wish to use it do so for their reasons, I gave you mine)
3. If I wanted to use Blizzard's default then I would, I choose not to because I like EQC not Blizzard's
4. I have no desire to ask another addon author to make changes to a their addon when I have one that works the way I like it.
As well as all the previous quotes. Guess you just didn't bother to read what you were quoting. Doesn't matter! My suggestion (the one you quoted) wasn't directed at you anyway. :P

It wasn't there when I made my post I read it multiple times after your post, cause I thought I missed it. I see it says it now so o-well. I still stick to my comment as it wasn't a nasty comment just a statement.
The correct thing for people to do when they realize that they make a mistake is apologize to the person they were trying to correct. But many people don't learn that in today's society anymore. Don't know why - the world would be a better place if people were more respectful.
I'm not saying that your comment was rude, but if you jump at someone and try to correct them about something and realize you were wrong, it's best to apologize instead of saying "oh well, basically I'm still right and it doesn't matter."
I may be just grumpy this morning, or maybe it's my teacher skills trying to instill some good manners...
Hmm noone has touched this thread in a while, anyway I have noticed recently that I get rather substantial lag (guessing frame rates of 4 per second or so, when it would be 30+ otherwise) when I mouse-over an item in my mailbox list and the eqcompare windows pop up. Lag immediately disappears after I leave the mouse-over area of the mailed item I'm checking.

Yep I use CowTip, could well be it.. I'll investigate.
Edit: Investigated. It's neither CowTip nor EqCompare. It was the 4.0.2 version of EnhTooltip/Stubby/Informant (of Auctioneer). I updated to 4.0.4 and the problem seems to have disappeared. Sorry for the wrong lead there.

No one's touched this thread because (as discussed already on this page and the last one or two):

Tekkub's TekKompare seems to be the preferred compare tooltip addon among the Ace community despite the existence of EQCompare. A similar oddity is OmniCC being widely used in favor of CooldownCount. As a result, the Ace equivalents don't get much attention.
How is that an oddity? People here know (for the most part) that an addon doesn't have to use Ace to be good, and in many cases using Ace is serious overkill.

The oddity is that the apparently inferior and/or buggier Ace equivalents are still languishing on the SVN causing confusion and headache, and people have to find out one at a time that there are better maintained and/or more highly favored alternatives out there. 9 times out of 10 I prefer Ace addons simply because they tend to be more actively maintained.
I use TekKompare and OmniCC myself btw :P
Also, since I have your attention and it's not completely off-topic: I think I saw some various versions of TekCompare in your repository via Fisheye - what's up with those?

#2. I use the "Show unread posts since last visit" link
what do you teach anyway? history?
A similar issue was reported here: http://www.wowace.com/forums/index.php?topic=6881.msg119193#msg119193
Do you use CowTip? Could it possibly be a conflict between multiple addons?
