I have autobar sort my mounts by last use so my keybinding will work after I manually change, but it'd be nice to somehow detect the zones you are in so I could always use flying mount where allowed, and non-flying otherwise.
This was mentioned before but if it's put in, I'd rather have it as an option than hardcoded. I still use my land mount in Outland.
This bit can still be fixed up. In battlegrounds and the old world my flying mount is still my default mount even though it is unusable. It should be pretty easy to use the new [flyable] function bliz put in to make it so the bar defaults to your ground mounts when not in a flyable zone.
As for the Outland issue... would it be possible to detect whether or not a player has one of the epic flyers (either one of the purchasable ones, the netherdrake or the ray) to determine which mount to make default. Those of us with epic flying mounts have no use for our ground mounts in Outland which means that if autobar can detect the flying mount and the [flyable] zone it should make that mount default. For everyone else the functionality could remain as it is now.
I want to show the empty buttons in autobar, so that all my buttons always stay in the same position, even when i (for instance) run out of water. Now i would think the option 'show empty buttons' would do the trick, but it doesn't. Nothing happens. Is it possible and if so, how?
...Yes, I have noticed the same behaviour in popup on shift (not working; stopped a few revisions ago), and rearrange on use. It looks like the issues have been reported on Google Code:
Popup on shift has not worked since the 2.0 patch came out. With the 2.1 patch I will give it an attempt once more, I think enough things have been fixed that it may be implementable or perhaps just hackable now. It is one of the major reasons AutoBar is still in beta 6 months later.
As for rearrange on use there are 2 ways it works:
1) This is the one you get a checkbox for: it rearranges the up to 16 categories on a button. This would let it for example switch between a flying mount and a ground mount or a summoned mount. This would not allow switching amongst items in the same category though. For that you need 2:
2) Rearrange on use inside a category. In combination with 1, this allows anything to become the default (until you reload ui or relog at any rate).
Now if 1) satisfies your needs, then great. If not then unless your categories have arrange on use built in you are out of luck. You can hack it yourself in the source files, or you can specifically state what it is you think needs this behaviour added as a default.
I had an idea for making the conjured items more consistent. Currently, there are two categories for mana gems. One is for conjuring them and the other is for consuming them. At the same time, there is a single category for conjured food and water that allows you to right-click to conjure and left-click to consume. The mana gem (2-category) approach is nice because it allows you to pick and choose the rank of mana gem. The food/water approach is nice because it only takes up one button slot even though you can't conjure lower ranks. It would be nice to have the best of both methods.
I would like to propose that putting any of these conjured item categories onto a button would create a pop-up list of all ranks. Left-clicking on them would consume them, right-clicking on them would conjure them. If you had zero quantity of one the ranks, it would still show up in the pop-up, but it would be dim (so you could still conjure that rank if necessary). If all ranks were dim, you conjure the highest rank if you tried to consume (like how food/water currently works).
Pros: all conjured items work the same way; each category only takes up one button slot
Cons: some lower ranks of food/water are probably never used, but would show up in the pop-up list
