vChat is a basic set of chat mods.
idChat was lacking of some features I wanted and so I thought this would be a good start to get in touch with Ace2. (I couldn't know that Indie continued development on idChat2 one day later). :p
features:
- hide the buttons next to each chat frame
- mouse wheel scrolling (configurable scroll speed)
- individual timestamp settings per chatframe (alignment, color, format)
- shorter channel names ([G] instead of [Guild], etc.)
- alternative chat strings ("To <name>:" instead of "<name> whispers:", "[AFK]" instead of "<AFK>", etc)
- sticky chats ("officer", "whisper" and "channel" are supported and each of them can be toggled)
- enables the arrow keys when typing in ChatEditBox
- Editbox placement (top, bottom)
- tell target
planned features:
- hide channel names completely (colors should be telling enough)
- shorten general channel names (e.g. [1. General - ...] -> [1.], etc)
- visual indication of a chatframe not being scrolled down
requested features (still thinking about adding them):
- group numbers in front of the player name
- clickable URLs
features I'm not gonna add:
- colored player names (use Teknicolor instead)
vChat should be compatible with any wow-client. It already includes a few german translations.
I use TheLowDown to have my ChatFrames automatically scrolled down to the bottom after a few seconds. Also Shift + MWheelDown will scroll to the bottom. There's no indicator if it's not.
I'll look into modifying the position of the chat edit box. I don't use it, so I didn't add it yet.
I really like idChat/idChat2 however I would of liked to see it all in one folder such as this.
Is it possable in the future to add a "disable fade" option?

Nice one !
Just one request - Could you have an option to toggle the chat edit box to be either up or down the chat frame ?
I'm not 100% sure, but if you use oSkin it will move the chat edit box to the top. I've always had idChat so I don't know if that's correct or not...have to check.
Yeah someone pointed out that oSkin did place the chat edit box on top here.
Could you add an option to put raid group numbers in front of names too and an options to color names of people according to their class? would be handy

There is already and Ace2 addon for colored player names called teknicolor. No need to add this option to this chat addon. It is available on the files page I believe.
Actually, if this addon is positioned as all-in-one chat management thingie, then it should have class coloring. And putting raidgroup numbers before the name is a good idea too.
Used this today with Teknicolor, works great. Besides the scroll-to-bottom button I also miss the Copy URL feature from Chatbox, where strings that start with "http" or "www" get turned into clickable text that opens a dialogue box with the URL selected so you can copy and paste it into a browser. Would love to see that small feature without all the other crap like enchanting ad reducers and whatnot.
Does the mod also hide the Emote-button (the one with the chat-bubble-icon)? It's one of the things with CleanChat doesn't have, but ChatBox have. Might sound like a little detail, but it's very annoying with that, fairly useless, button if you're trying to make a clean UI.
Class-names isn't needed imo. If there is a seperate mod for it, there's no need to have it here, too.
Btw, if you are nuking the [Guild]-text, why not delete it completely? For the most basic channels such as say, yell, guild, party, raid, general, trade, localdefence and lookingforgroup.

Edit: When you hide the scroll buttons, is there an visual indictation of when the text isn't scrolled all the way to the bottom ?
Thanks.

So close to being able to get rid of Chatbox...
All that's missing is the glowing scroll-to-bottom button as someone else mentioned.
Are shortened channel names toggleable btw?

At any rate thanks again!

General [g]
Trade [T]
Lookingforgroup [LFG]
Raid Warning [RW]
ect...

Jaguar aka ChatEX is also worth a driveby if you are looking for future features you may wish to add. Soon to be aced according to the author.

I don't want vChat to become terribly bloated so I will limit its features to what I think a basic chat mod needs :>
