I'm currently working on another project named Joker, but that should be complete soon, and once that occurs, I will be looking into handling the Aura problem PitBull has.
Well I like weird names - adds a bit of flavour.
However, smart naming could do both, for example "Lib-Metrognome-EventThrottle".
It'd internally be named Metrognome, but the name both makes clear it's a Lib, and gives a rough idea under which category of library it runs.
(edit)
Anyways, I am hot-on.
I can't help with the actual coding (too busy at uni with too many programming languages to learn Lua ;_;), but if you can use any help planning/testing/intentionall-breaking stuff, message me, CK. ^_^

I'm more excited about the Aura-fix than Joker, but it's good news nonetheless.
Don't tag any mods written with it '-Joker-', as people do now with '-Ace2-'.
What library a mod is written in shouldn't matter for the end user. Who wrote the mod makes a bigger difference.
Why does this even matter? You said it yourself: It doesn't matter what library a mod uses, so why should it matter if they tag or don't tag their addon?

Because users that don't know it doesn't matter will make an association between seeing the word "Joker" next to the addon's name and whatever experience they have with the addon, good or bad. Consciously or not, they'll tend to judge other addons with "Joker" in their name accordingly.
Because branding mods like this causes fanboyism, something that has (whether you want to admit it or not) hurt the ace community. Look at all the HORRIBLE Ace2 rewrites of prefectly good and simple non-Ace mods. Stupid people think Ace2 is magic and any mod using it will be instantly more efficent, and now there is starting to be a backlash of different stupid people who all hate Ace2 because one bad mod has spoiled their illusion of 100% efficiency.
People should care about the author, not the framework...and if this is ever going to change the best time to do it would be during a framework shift.

In addition the the illogical associations and "fanboyism", it's unsightly and irrelevant. Meta-data like what libraries an addon uses isn't part of the addon's title, and as such doesn't belong in the addon's TOC title field. There are TOC fields specifically for that kind of information: X-Embeds, RequiredDeps, and OptionalDeps. Having colored crap in addon titles is annoying enough on the Blizz addon screen, more so when viewing addon titles through an in-game utility like ACP or DeuceCommander that uses the TOC title field.
This thread is full of so much bullshit its unreal.
you win the thread! locky! use search next time.
edit: maybe ck should set up ckknight.com and host all his new super cool joker based addons there, and all the fanboi's could follow him. I mean, he does it for the fame right?
CKKnight is just a freaking god. Is there anything that he can't do?!?
yes, write a distributed in game wiki
im sure we could work that one out.. he's got the generic bulk transmit of information down, just need a frunt end. Join a Global Channel, and distribute the entire DB via Bit-Torrent method. :D
