I would love to see some kind of manual sorting of items within a category... basically making the bars like virtual bags so that items can be moved individually. I like to order my gems by quality, put all pearls together, put all grinding stones together, that sort of thing. I currently can't do that without making each type a custom category, and there aren't enough to go around. I tried sorting things in my regular bags the way I like and then selecting "By Bag" sorting, but that scatters stuff all over the place (r22280). "No Sorting" is even worse of course. Maybe I'm overlooking something.
It would also be cool to be able to rename custom categories, e.g. rename "Custom 1" to "Fire Resist". Doesn't seem to be a way of doing that without editing the lua. Again, maybe I'm overlooking something.
1.26 should do what you want, i've removed the 9 custom categories and the players can now add/edit/delete their own so you can have anything you want.

now i know you dont want to touch the blizzard bags, BUT at the moment im using an old copy of bagnon bag and bank (with the bagnon frames dragged off the screen) in order to accomplish that small task.

2. Soulbound food is sorted into the soulbound category. Maybe the tooltip-check for food could come before the check for soulbound items, because it would make more sense (for me at least) in the food category
3. If I switch between different chars, all the other chars inventories are empty
4. Some sorting stuff, not sure if these are from the exceptions or from the client, like enchanting stuff splits in enchanting and tradeskill category, or essence of earth or elemental earth are in the reagents category

I'm tempted to wirte me an extra mini-addon to disable the original bags. I can't tell you how annoying it is when you wanna add/change a ClosetGnome set and instead of ArkInvetory _all_ Blizzard bags open :(
Loving your work. Was tempted to start working on something like this a few weeks back when EngInventory's new incarnation didn't support 7 bank bags, and had it's usual performance problems. Got as far as the grouping, organisation and display of items so can understand the intricacies.
On and on the people go about getting rid of the default frames, but as you've said this will come when it's stable. Fine.
But I think the frame needs the ability to show a bag bar within it. I access my bags (well, ArkInventory) by pressing F12. I don't have a bag bar (biggest waste of UI space ever), but for those occasions when I wish to change bags I need to see the bag bar. The ability to see it within the ArkInventory windows would be lovely. Even a toggle to show the bags so that they're not consuming screen space whenever my bags are open.
On that note, I'd quite like to be able to remove the display of the header and footer sections. Maybe little buttons on the center part of the frame that toggle display of the headers, footers and bag bar would work nicely.

And just one more thing actually having just tabbed back into game...
I'd like to be able to remove the tooltip style borders, setting them alpha 0 or to single pixel flat borders.

1. i'm an idiot :) i hardcoded the category groups, i didn't pickup that you were actually getting CLASS and PROFESSION instead of the translated versions. it's now fixed in 1.27 (or at least should be) there are translations to KLASSE and BERUF so if they're not showing up as localised then it's still not working.
2. food/drink is now categorised before soulbound is checked (so are some other categegories)
3. it's a bug, i think i fixed it in 1.27
4. categorisation is a bloody pain, most items can be used by at least 2-4 different skills. i've got it picking up which skills you have and assigning those items first now but that still has issues, eg; i have herb/alch do i categorise flowers as herb (gather) or alch (use)??? it's doing my head in.

adding the bag/bank slots is on my todo list - i want them as well but it's not as urgent for me as mine are on an autohide bar that only displays on mouseover, i'll get it done though.
options are now in 1.27 to display the border or not and change it's colour, that was easier than giving the choice of edgetypes

I think you might have said its on a low status for you but even with the blizzard hide option enabled
the default bank ui still comes up. It is working with the bags at the ah/mailbox/etc just not the bank. One other thing I noticed is the dewdrop menu doesn't seem to change position if you are close to the screens edge.
A request I have is that there be an option to make the header compact. Something to put it all on one line.

Why add a FuBar plugin?
The addon doesn't need it. If all you want if to see the current bag status then BagFu does that. This is an inventory mod, which functions perfectly and doesn't need settings/display on Fu.

I had the same issue. Renaming CATEGORY_PROFESSION_FIRSTAID in ArkInventory.lua, and Locale/enUS.lua took care of the problem for me.
