Alrighty. Edited file now sent! I had kinda already sent the un-edited, so you can just delete that one if you like.
was only 73k so not that big a problem. you've got nearly 120 rules, how slow is the bag to open on your machine? just that it's taking about 2-3 seconds with the new rules (and they should be slightly faster - at least i hope they are)
By the way, how about a category for 'openable'?
ask the PT people, i just use the categories :)
btw, on bar 14 you've got about 6-7 bonus food groups? you could just use one Consumable.Food.Edible.Bonus (or did you do it that way because of the way AI currently sorts PT sets in 1.45?)
I'm just going to go ahead and bump my comment, as I see the following as a serious issue... I'm sorry if I seem pushy, but I think this really need some attention :)

Hey there,
I've been using your bag addon for quite some time, and I love the fact that I don't have to manage all the slots myself, really great, good work.
However, (funny how I didn't come by this earlier) I've noticed that when you gain a new item, sell an item or so on, the game will lock for a milisecond, and the increasing rate will grow up to 50-150 kb/s for a moment. This results in ArkInventory using several megabytes extra of memory, simply from buying items from a vendor while having the bag open. It seems to me like the bag sorting update uses a lot of memory and cpu time. Is there anything you can do to help this issue?
I would go in and see if I could find a cause myself, but I'm short on time these days...

It is pretty slow to open, but the problem is when inventory changes, that's really slow. And putting things in and out of the bank is a nightmare. At least it runs fine when the inventory is closed!
By the way, how about a category for 'openable'?

The PT people specifically said that they cannot and will not create categories for and that include every item in the game. However, in AI, my inventory must include (and hopefully sort) every item in the game. So it'd be nice to have a couple categories to cover the gaps left by PT3...
btw, on bar 14 you've got about 6-7 bonus food groups? you could just use one Consumable.Food.Edible.Bonus (or did you do it that way because of the way AI currently sorts PT sets in 1.45?)
Yes, this is my solution to what I wished to happen before. A bar for everything that gives a bonus, and then individual bars for each 'type' of food. (Bread, cheese, etc.) If I wasn't a Hunter where types of food were important for feeding my pet with, I'd probably just lump it up as bonus and not-bonus.
Also, if it would be possible to sort by categories, within a bar, that would reduce my bars a lot, too. If I could just create a bar for 'non-bonus food', and it would sort first by type of food, and then by level (So level 5 cheese, level 15 cheese, level 5 fungus, level 15 fungus, level 25 fungus, level 5 bread, level 35 bread, etc.), then I wouldn't have to create separate bars for each food.
Sorting recipes by profession and skill required would be useful too.
just tested out your addon last night and was impressed by what it can do, nice work. Originally I am coming from AllInOne I think after having a slight detour to MiniInventory (from the discord dude) and since that broke using OneBag/Bank. Although I am quite content with the basic "all in one" feature I was missing the way MiniInventory was filtering/sorting your bags since I had to switch.
Now ArkInv seems to do exactly that, even better with the myriads of filter options, just the output is a different one; virtual bags instead of tabs.
I might be the only one on this planet who seems interested in the feature in which case its save to just ignore me, but maybe other people would like the idea of having there virtual bags behind a row of tabs instead all layed out in plain sight?
So you think its worth the effort putting it in if even possible with the current way your bringing your bags on the screen?
in any case, thanks for the jewel, i will stick with it for a while anyway
I'm still getting problems with my bags appearing behind the window background. I've deleted my arkinventory.lua and arkinventory.lua.bak from the SavedVariables folder but it still goes on. Also last time I updated you seemed to have removed the distinction between Soulbound Weapons and soulbound armor. This was very useful for me, is there any chance we could please have that back?
It is pretty slow to open, but the problem is when inventory changes, that's really slow. And putting things in and out of the bank is a nightmare.
these are the numbers i'm getting at the moment with the new code;
initial bank+bag opening is still a kicker, 6 seconds, but once done the secondary times are 30ms to open the bag, 40ms for the bank. transfers between bank and bag takes about 0.9-1.5 seconds. dont forget that this is with your setup, 80 virtual bags and 120 rules - i'd presume most people wont go to that level.
my bank+bag opening is about 2-2.5 seconds, secondary around 20 to 30ms, but i only have about 16 virtual bags and 20 rules, bank to bag transfer is around 1 second
rule management is probably going to be nasty though because when a rule changes i have to recategorise every item - and that can take some time. moving rules to different bars won't count though as thats just a visual change.
At least it runs fine when the inventory is closed!
so it should, AI does hardly anything at all with the windows closed - just enough to remember which bags have had things removed/added to. it scans those bags when you open the window.

sorry, you'll have to wait for 2.0 to come out to be able to differentiate them.

not sure how flexible i wrote the display code but it's a possiblity
the latest beta is on the SVN under branches\ArkInventory\v2beta if you want to have a look.
make sure that you backup your ArkInventory.lua savedvariables file as it's not backwards compatible - if you dont and you install this then you will lose your settings if you try to go back to 1.45.
theres probably bugs i haven't found yet and the rule window is not finished, it's just basic but it should give you a general idea.

Sorry I didn't explain properly. I've already done what you say but. In the arkinventory window. the bag slots that I should normally be able to click (say where an item I want to sell is) is behind the background to the window. So I would have to click through it to get to the item (almost as though they were greyed out)

if you've disabled the bar frames and it's still gray then i really don't know because the only frame that can be in front of the items after that is the main window - if you change the colour of the main background to something other than black, like pink, see if the gray changes to pink - if it does then there really is nothing i can do as the main frame is the first one and everything is attached to it - including the items, at one level down.
Sorry wanted to get a decent screenie and it happens intermittently.
As you can see the bag slots appear behind the window background so they can't be clicked on.
Oh and the colour changes with the window colour :(
^^ I've been having the same thing happen to my bank bag lately. Same blacked out screen, can't click on anything in the bag when this happens. Drop down menu works and I can even get into edit mode, but I can't click on anything in the bag. Haven't made any config changes, just my regular updates using wowaceupdater.
First time it happened was a couple days ago. Reloading UI and/or exiting game completely did not fix the problem. I ended up deleting the ArkInventory folder and reinstalling via the updater to fix the problem.
Happened again just last night on a different character/account. Hadn't messed with ArkInv at all. Logged in, spent a whole night raiding, and after the raid I went to my bank to drop a couple things off but I couldn't.
Since I hadn't made any changes to ArkInv other than updating, I figured others would have the same problem. Which is why I'm here...
I always try to negate things that may be conflicting.
First attempt to disable all mods except AI.
If it still does it then, then perhaps your computer is corrupting the files or it's extracting corrupt files (maybe clearing cached files and cookies and re-downloading the mod may fix it).
If it stops doing it then it could be a mod conflict and you may want to go through the grueling agony to figure out which mod conflicts by enabling them each one by one and if you find that one particular one that causes the issue then perhaps post it here and see if anyone else has the same mod that may be conflicting.
You can't blame everything just on AI as I do not/have not had any problems and I have many guild-mates that have been using this mod for a long while and do not, nor have they ever, had this problem.
You could also post all the mods you have installed and see if there is a common denominator.

Actually, if you use a HUD addon and are experiencing this issue, make sure to disable the HUD and delete your layout-cache.txt, then try again and see if you still have the "grayed out" problem. Just disabling the conflicting mod may not solve the problem as the broken value gets saved to that cache file. See page 28 of this thread for more information.

I had this issue recently and I ALT-TABed from WoW and deleted Arkinvenrory`s variables in the WTF folder (with wow still running), switched back to WOW and reloaded UI. Problem gone WITHOUT loosing my settings :)

...Okay, I'm looking at my file but I don't know what part you want removed. -.-
the account section is what i *don't* need. ie just send the profiles sections
ARKINVDB = {
["profiles"] = {
keep this stuff
},
["account"] = {
delete all this stuff
},
}
