Really like how this addon is working out. It's fully usable as of now, but can always get that little better :)
Noticed one tiny flaw the other day: AI reacts on pressing 'B' for opening bags, but not on that key closing them again. Easily worked around by using 'Esc' or closing with mouse, but just wanted you to know. Updated yesterday, and haven't checked my key definitions (haven't set up anything there myself), so it might be already corrected or something on my side.
Works fine for me... Check your keybindings - is your B key still bound to "Toggle Backpack" (the default)? or is it bound to "Open All Bags"?
in all honesty i cant see why it's happening, the xml hasn't changed, the bars and items are still in the same places they were before and unless it happens to me i can't figure out a way to duplicate it so i can fix it.
Ok.. so I registered on here for really one reason. Arkayenro, your mod freakin rocks. I love it, so much that i just spend the last 3 hours trying to figure out why it wouldnt work for me, and here's what I found.
I was having the "Offline" problem.. where it wouldnt let me move anything in my inventory. So i started out by deleting my WTF folder and reloading with just AI enabled. and of course it worked. Then i enabled all my mods one by one till one of em broke it. And it turned out to be the mod DHUD (Drathals Hud). Then to further figure out why i went through all of my files in the WTF folder under a text editor. Mainly narrowed it down due to it being broken for one char.. but not the other till i enabled DHUD.
I also saw that once I break AI... i can't fix it until i delete my WTF folder. But i figured out what "breaks" (if it is broken...)
in the WTF folder under X:\World of Warcraft\WTF\Account\ACCOUNTNAME\SERVER\CHARACTER there is a file called layout-cache.txt and inside that file (Opened using WORDPAD) there is an entry for ArkInventory

I can verify that open all bags when AI is open will not close it. SanityBags has the opposite problem lol.

just installed it for the wife and can say she had the same problem, bind b to arkinv and it will close with be!
btw, loving it, best bag-mod ever!

Is there a way you can put an example of PT3 custom category Syntax in the wiki? I was trying to figure it out so I could sort my endless sets of gear in my bank and it'd be nice to be "tier one bag" "tier two bag" without having to create custom categories.
I also might find use of it for sorting other items.
1. The pink color ends up UNDER the items, so it doesn't cover them.
2. The script makes me able to click on some of the items (the ones in bar1).
Please fix this, its extremely annoying! :)
i've added a bar option (in my working copy) to make them hidden so for people that have this problem they'll have to live without frames/backgrounds around their items until i can figure out the real reason this is happening. at least you'll be able to use it again :)

Unfortunately Sanity's item counting is broken atm and Antiarc is busy working on Omen :(
i'll add it to the do to list but don't expect it for a while as i have to figure out how to modify the game tooltip (as well as add code to add the counts up accross alts)

When will the category thing get sorted out? It's the most annoying thing wrong with the mod right now. The number of items I've had to change from their default categories has more than tripled.
i have a goal in mind to make it easier, adding PT3 was supposed to help, both me getting where i want go with this and to help the user categorise, it wasn't really meant for defaults but it helps slightly in that regard.
btw, i found a bug with the categorisation of your own professions first - sometimes it didn't work and most stuff ended up under blacksmithing or mining, now it's fixed it might allevite some issues.

But custom categories also means I have to sort every new item i get?
Why have these categories been removed? This is a clear step backwards for this addon... :(
trinkets/weapon categories were merged back into equipment because you can sort equipment by location, so weapons and trinkets are now all one category but sorted. it seemed to make more sense when i was looking at my inventory.

What I noticed... is that when i enable DHUD it changes FrameLevel: 6 to FrameLevel: 127
When i disable DHUD, AI will continue to be broken till i change that 127 back to a 6. Once i change it AI works again.
So hopefully Arkayenro this will help ya fix it.. or at least point you in the right direction. :)
oh for craps sake. anyone know how to fix that? i had no idea you could permanently alter another mods frame layout that way.
i *think* the 127 moves it *up* the frame tree so it gets to overlap things underneath - but as it's moving the whole frame it could be that 127 is the highest so all frames are at the same level. oh well, at least i should be able to duplicate it and see if i can fix it somehow now that we know.

Right. Which is why you want it bound to "toggle backpack". ;)
I've looked this up and can't find anything that says what it does, how it works, or how to use it.
i will eventually be adding something to help people pick PT3 categories but in the mean time you may want to download PT3 and look at the data.lua file for ideas on what names to use.
eg (these may be spelt wrong so check first before using them);
Misc.Mount.Flying = every flying mount
Misc.Mount.Normal = every normal mount
the thing about PT is that you can just ask if an item is in Misc.Mount and it'll search every category underneath as well so if you're not interested in delving too deep for your categories you just stay in the shallow end :)
btw, capitalisation needs to be identical when using PT3 groups.
I can verify that open all bags when AI is open will not close it. SanityBags has the opposite problem lol.
trying to figure out which bag open/toggle hooks to use for which events can be a bit hard. the toggles are easy, it's the open hooks that you're never really sure whether to just open or toggle with. i tried to follow whatever blizzard did with their bags and from what i remember i don't think open all bags toggled, it just opened?

Just a note, I don't use DHUD and this happened to me too. I do use IceHUD however.
My guess would be all the xxHUD-addons do this to make sure that the HUD stays below everything. Must say it's a really bad way of doing things however. I haven't checked any of em, but from what you guys says it sure seems so. You should bring it up with the respective author of those addons, ark shouldn't have to fix what other addons break.

Actually, I have mine set to 'open all bags'. I also have the AI option set to hide the Blizzard default bag frames.

Yeah don't attack it too hard - I'm sure Antiarc will get back to Sanity eventually, as he was in the middle of some major changes before he got sidetracked.

It's been a very long time now, but I'm pretty darn sure that it acts as a toggle for the default bags. It's not a big deal though - I would never have noticed except that I swapped my backpack and all bags buttons while trying out SanityBags.

I'm still confused. If I create a custom category in AI that's called 'Misc.Mount', then mounts will be contained in that category?
Here's what I'm confused about. When you say "pick PT3 categories" what do you mean by 'pick'? And when you say "ideas on what names to use" what do you mean by 'use'?
~
The way I'm currently using AI is to have a bar for every category. I then use 'collapsed' mode to save space since like 90% of the bars are empty the majority of the time. But anything I get, it's sorted by category with nice little comfortable spacers between the categories to keep them nice and organized. This is exactly how I like it, a nice little sorted inventory, and not /just/ sorted (which other mods can do), but with each category spaced off from each other.
Looking at PT3's database, it seems possible to have more organized categories. For instance, 'food' could be separated between normal food, and gives-buff food. At the moment, I do this manually by moving buff-food into the 'consumable' category.
I guess I'm just still lost and confused on where I actually adjust some setting or change something in order to get the categories working better...
it would appear that wow will put them back to whatever level is appropriate (so i'm not sure if DHUDs doing this deliberately or just has xml naturally that deep). but the next version of AI will have an option to hide the bar frame completely so if you keep DHUD then you can still use AI.
I just had a question on the Syntax...but though trial and error I figured it out.
First Step to using it, go download PT3Browser. This is a mod that allows you to browse the PT3 database and figgure out the naming conventions and such.
To add a PT category, type it out exactly as you see in the browser. You'll have to remember/write it down b/c you can look at the browser and type it in the AI field at the same time.
For example, I added the category:
GearSet.Dungeon 2.Rogue
I then assigned it to a bar and all my Tier05 stuff went right into it. Note that AI automaticaly handles the tokenization so be sure to type it in exactly as it is in PT3, including the space.
For your food example, the command would be...
Consumable.Food.Buff
Which will isolate all food that has buffs asociated with eating it.
Another useful one for casters would be
Consumable.Food.Combo Health
Which will isolate food that has both buffs.
Using PT3Browser, you can see what items are located in the tree. You can use the search tool to find where in the tree you item is. I'm not sure if there is a wildcard lookup for names. PT3Browser needs it's own window, and not just a tooltip popup on fubar....sigh.
Please Add this info to the wiki (but maybe without my little rant on out crappy ass PT3Browser is from a use standpoint).

load up your character and open your bags, bank and keyring (doesnt matter if they're offline)
enter the following into the chat window (one line at a time - copy and paste it)
/script ARKINV_MainFrame1:SetFrameLevel( 3 )
/script ARKINV_MainFrame2:SetFrameLevel( 3 )
/script ARKINV_MainFrame3:SetFrameLevel( 3 )
logout, log back in

I think I can figure it out without using the browser, just from looking through the data file.
To confirm:
Step 1: Create a category with the exact name directly ripped from PT3
Step 2: Assign the custom category to a bar.
The end? Sounds good to me. WAY past my bedtime tonight, I'll check it out next time I'm on. Thanks for the help!
