<Neronix`out> Why somebody's not written am autobar-like periodicTable:GetBest() frontend yet, I dunno
Neither did I. Consumer is a new approach to AutoBar, it hooks standard ActionBar slots to turn them into automatic consumables buttons that are scanned using Periodic Table.
I thought about the simplest possible approach to this and I've come up with something I think is a pretty neat idea, using macros to dictate the contents of a button. The original macro is also run in case you'd like to do something more than just use the consumable.
- Install addon
- Access the macros menu (/m)
- Make a new macro, name it so that Consumer recognizes it by prefixing the Periodic Table set name with a small "c" followed by the capitalized set name, examples: cFoodAll, cFoodFishRaw, cWaterAll, cPotionHealAll
- Drop the macro onto your actionbar (only tested with Blizzard Bars)
* Added initial options
* Inventory changes are now reflected on the buttons
* In cases where there's no items to use for icon display, Consumer will now use a red overlay, remove the item count and display the set on the button
* Tooltip now shows the original item tooltip and optionally a list of items in the chosen set that are currently present in your inventory
Hope this is useful to someone else like me who doesn't like AutoBar but likes blowing potions! :D
Lastly thanks to haste for tipping me off on Ergo Proxy and thus the name ;)
Very nice. Noticed one bug i think. I did a cWaterAll, tossed it on hotbar, everything looked good. Macro showed up as alterac water, showed i had 20 on me. Autobar showed i had 20, and when i draged the water onto another spot on hotbar, it showed 20 also .
Clicked on the cWaterAll macro, it drank the water, but still showed 20 in inventory.
Both the old autobar and the draged water showed i had 19.
If i redrag macro to hotbar, or reload consol, the count updates. I dont know if another mod is intercepting count or not, but ill do more playing tonight with it. Friend called me as i discovered this mod, to remind me i was suposed to help him move today.
Ohya, useing bartender2 and worked fine, disabled bt2 to see if that was causeing the # to show incorrect, and no luck.
I made the macro, dropped it on my hotbar, and the icon for the food it found showed up. The count said 5 for the item that showed up, although I had 25 in my bags, and clicking on the macro does nothing. Whether I am full health or hurt, it doesn't eat the food. I use Bartender2 and OneBag, tho I turned them both off and tried it with the default bars/bags and it still did nothing. Is there supposed to be any sort of text in the body of the macro? or just a blank macro with the appropriate name (cFoodBonus in my case)? I can't figure out why it isn't working :(
ive got a working water macro so far (using bongos bars)
(and yes, the name of the macro is simply cItemBlah with a blank macro)
my problem comes in with not getting a count on the action button or a graphic of the item
the graphic is especially helpful as a mage for the various managems so i know which is up next, how are people getting the item icon for the macro icon?
I am all for this mod - but - does Autobar really suck? I am using a varient that seems rock solid for me - autocast works, the potions/bandages/food scale to the version that you "need" to heal you / refill mana based on deficit. Categories work - 1 click menu and drag around works, and it is resizeable to fit any GUI.
I have used autobar forever - and it has always worked for me. This new mod is nice in that it uses action bars - but - for people who have their actionbars full up already AutoBar provides its own slots.
Just my 2 yen - let's not slam another mod because there is a potential replacement out there - the current version of AutoBar works great and works as intended.
how could you possibly be using all 120 action buttons? lol
on the upside, the memory usage / efficiency of this over auto-bar is noticable
little more polishing and auto-bar is outta my addons folder lol
I have a feature request for you to consider. I had asked for this for Autobar but never got a reponse. Could you make an option to only use BG related items in BGs. I don't want to burn a Major Potion when I have the cheap BG stuff. As it is now, If I am going to run BG, I have to take all of my healing potions and put in bank.
Thanks for all the responses, as many now have understood (and should from the 0.x version) this is very alpha software, I'll be working on getting it more feature complete this weekend, currently on the todo is:
- Tooltip should reflect what items that are available
- Updating your inventory should trigger button updates
- Self casting
- make sure BG consumables are tried first, and make an option for not blowing regular potions when in BG
