...will let you keep targetting someone who isn't debuffed while casting that spell on someone else? If I target someone without magic debuff and cast Dispel Magic, I get an error message instead of a glowing hand. Other spells might be different. I need to know this to fix the problems people are having with resuming auto-attack (which will only work for spells that show a glowing hand, but not for spells with the error message).
So please target someone who doesnt have a debuff, then click your available cleansing spells from your spellbook and check if you either get the message "nothing to clean" or a glowing hand.
yeh this happened to me once I was in Chrommy fight but the whole encounter was such a mess(and always is), and there were so many magic/disease debuffs for me(as a priest) to dispel that I can't actually pay attention to an error message in my bugsack, plus the debuffs couldnt last long... they were quickly dealt with by the fellow priests anyways. But by guesswork I realized it might have something to do with targetting so I turned to target chrommagus himself throughout the rest of the encounter and yeah no more error occured.
I can add that Cure Disease also gives an error when attempted to be used on someone who doesn't have a disease.
Purge also gives an error message when you try and use it on something which has no magic to remove.
thanks. It seems that it might make a difference if you're targetting a friendly unit or a mob. So please target a mob when casting the spell and let me know if you still get the "nothing to dispel" message.
afaik purge can only be cast on enemys to purge them, it is unable dispell debuffs from friendly units. This is definitive!
it uses the same mechanic as dispell magic : an error occurs exactly like with dispel magic.
targetting friendly trying to purify or cleanse : error message as described above
