Maybe since the forum is still fresh and its not a big job it would be a good idea to subcategorize the addons that are already here and any future released ace2 addons.
as I'm often reading the forums via WAP2 on my mobile: as long as "show unread posts" doesn't exist for the wap2 layout, having to click through even more forums just to see if there's anything new in them is a pain - which is why I voted 'no'.
Bump. Can we please get this Tem, Kaelten, Moonwolf? We already have more then one page... The more addons the more work it will be to do it. Heck Ill do it if you gimme admin :)
*please* don't add subcategories. I wouldn't even know where to place specific addons, as more than one category might be valid - and as not all brains work the same, someone would definetly search for addon A in category X instead of category Y where the developer put it.
Also it's not really easy to see what has recently changed without being logged in, without clicking through a dozen additional forums.
well, they are sorted by last update - so even if you're only reading the forums one a week you don't need to browse through 3-4 pages (wheras we'd probably have about 15 subcategory forums).
But then you get people bitching at other people for not using search functions.
Why not give addons or threads tags, and then display capabilities that can filter by these tags. (forum threads are not always the best vehicle for this kind of thing.)
I can do the subcats, however tagging labels like gmail does is beyond SMF I think.really I'd like to setup a community in django, but I'm neither have the time, nor am I good enough to do it quickly in django, nor is it installed on the box atm. Although the last is probably the easiest to fix. I'm going to review the Ace2 categories so that we can have some kinda stucture to go by and then make sub forums for each category.
i think you should have catories based on the ace2 categories. one of the knocks against wowace.com forums is that it's nearly impossible to follow what is going on. splitting the addon threads up by addon category and a little moderation to keep things tidey will go a long way! :)
Can't seem to vote^^voting closed? i only see results.
I'd vote Don't Care
I kinda like it all like that, because if you are searching for a specific mod and it's description, one should use /files or the wiki and only use these threads for suggestions and error fixing.
The only sorting that would be nice would be Sub-cats for bigger things like RaidAddons (as it is already) and perhaps Fubar+Plugins
I'm voting for "Use the wiki more". The categorization abilities of the wiki are far superior to any forum I've seen, and it's very easy to link back to the forum thread for your mod.
Forums should stay flat IMO.

Subcategories are terrible, terrible, terrible.
