I've recently come back to Wow and grabbed Archy as one of my addons because I always used to use it. I don't use many of the features now, but the output to raid warning for when you're over a digsite is amazing. I have, however, noticed a slight issue with this. I first noticed it in Outland, when the text came up telling me that I'd found Ogre fragments when I was at an Arakkoa digsite, and soon noticed that it said Ogre everywhere I went in Outland. In Pandaria it tells me I've found Demonic everywhere, and today I did some in Kalmindor and it's telling me Demonic also. I've attached a screenshot, where you can clearly see that it's a Night Elf site I've found - not Demonic.
This is just a trifling quibble, and I really don't care if it tells me the right type of fragment or not, but I thought you might want to know. My Twitch tells me that my Archy addon is up to date.
EDIT: Ok so after actually playing around with using the Archy display (most of which I turned off because it's distracting and/or annoying, such as the 'able to complete' sound which just won't go away) the digsites now show the correct fragment name. So ... no idea why it showed bad info when I didn't have the frames showing. *shrugs* Nevermind.
This might be a little nitpicky, but I have at least four addons that are displaying coordinates in my world map. I've been able to find that Archy is one of them, but I cannot find any option to turn this off. Does anyone know where or how I can disable Archy from displaying coordinates on my world map?
Edit: You know what, never mind. It looks like when I disabled all of my addons and was trying to enable them one at a time, Archy automatically enabled TomTom as well since they're somewhat tied together. So it was Actually TomTom displaying the coordinates, not Archy. My bad, sorry.
Is there a way to customise the sort order of the races in the artifacts window?
As I understand it the default sort order is the order in which the different races are displayed in the Blizzard profession menu combined with the blacklist. I'd like to manually customise that order, so that the race I'm farming to get Restored Artifacts is at the top and the races I want to get certain items are below that.
The "crate Restored Artifacts" button on the Dig Site Tracker: currently it only shows 1 item you can crate and by pressing it multiple times you can cycle through every item that can be crated. I'd like small counter on the icon showing the total number of items that can be crated to easily estimate how much yield the current farming session accumulated.
And to report an issue: it seems the Dig Site Tracker gets confused when I'm farming only Mantid sites using the Mantid Artifact Sonic Locator, as only 2 sites are being shown at all times despite currently being 3 or 4 sites active across 2 regions - whereas before when I was in the Eastern Kingdoms the tracker would display sites across the continent.
Edit: looks like the tracker doesn't update fast enough. Just now I had 4 sites and the tracker showed 4, I finished 1 dig site and the tracker showed 3 but a new site spawned instantly so 4 in total. This behaviour might also explain my observation earlier, in which 2 sites have been tracked vs. 4 sites being present in the area.
Never-mind: the issues is already reported as #677 on wowace.
Others report missing dig sites in pre-Legion areas or other problems, but I've not yet been able to confirm these myself, unlike the above two.
I can definitely confirm that while in Pandaria, many dig sites don't show up at all. Sometimes all 4 will be there, other times it could be as little as one. I've attached a screenshot of my current digs in Pandaria... showing just two at the moment.
Thank-you for this amazing add-on! It has been a huge lifesaver while doing Archaeology!
Hey, sorry about that - you should have gotten a notification about a response. I closed the ticket tracker because any tickets submitted until the Archy rewrite - yes, rewrite - is complete will be nothing but noise.
I've been wanting to do a rewrite for awhile now, but with Blizzard completely replacing the map subsystem/API in 8.0.1 there's no other choice unless I want to drive myself insane patching the existing codebase.
Thanks for the fast response. Yes, I've gotten a notification, but those notifications only contain the first few words, so I didn't get your full message. And the link in the notification leads to a not found error from WowAce.
Thanks for continuing Archy, looking forward to the rewrite. In the meantime I suggest you add information about the rewrite to the addon description.
Thanks for clarifying the future of Archy - After seeing the changes to some libraries I suspected that map changes will require quite a bit of work.
Just curious: I know it's early and rewrite probably haven't even started (and can take some time) but do you plan to start with just basic features, e.g to support only Survey help in an Alpha/Beta release and then add other features or planning on doing it all at once and then pushing it out?
I think some of us would love to see the iterative approach even if it's just pre-release pushes that already can make archeology survey much simpler, with other features Archy had coming in a bit later. I do however realize that the survey is probably the single most complex part that completely broke :)
Anyways, would love to hear your thoughts on this - when you have time.
I really don't have any specific plans for a development route, but I'll likely go the same route I did when rewrote NPCScan prior to the launch of Legion; throw it all away, start from scratch, and release when the final product was a reasonable facsimile of the original... only better. With that in mind, though, there's no reason I can't release alpha and beta versions as I go along. We'll see.
Thanks for clarification and for your hard work on this addon - Archeology is way too painful without it :) I'll be happy to test any pre-release version you might choose to push out, but in any case - thanks again for keeping this addon alive and making all of our lives much easier!
