Question... If I install the 'NPCScan', in game should it show up as '_NPCScan'? I have delete _NPCScan, _NPCSCAN Overlay, and _NPCScan Overlay Broker... When I pull up to see NPCScan in game, it insists on showing up as _NPCScan... Should this happen?
Note: It is no longer playing two sounds, just the War Drums. I had previously changed that to something that was just a little less 'loud'???... However, I did notice that I can't select any other sounds. Should their even be any others to obtain? Also, the box for showing the Red Flashing Screen is unchecked, and still flashes. I find this a bit hard on the eye.
Ok...Update: I found out that despite my efforts to delete/uninstall _NPCScan and associates, they were not being deleted. I manually deleted them and triple checked to make sure that it was not there. I have set the Flash to off, and the sounds are working fine... However, when I click on the tab that is marked NPCs, I get the following error:
<snip>
I am not able to go to that tab at all because of the LUA Error. Same with Detection and Targeting. And if I come across a Rare, it is still flashing red. I have set a different sound, but it still plays both that sound, and the War Drums. For now I will just leave it to the default sound, but am at a loss as to what to do for the Flashing Screen.
Completely uninstall anything NPCScan-related, then download the latest version of NPCScan (7.0.3.16) and you should be good to go.
Hi, firstly thanks for the addon, it's helped me out with killing things on numerous occasions. I have a question, however: how do I disable the "toast" notification in the bottom right corner? Really no need for two popups. Also, when I mouseover the other popup, it presents two options: left click or right click (one to target, one to dismiss) but neither of these seem to do anything?
Which version are you using?
The only time there should be a toast in the bottom right corner is if an NPC was detected while you were in combat, unless you also have _NPCScan installed. If that's the case, you should delete that - _NPCScan is the old version, whereas NPCScan is a completely new AddOn.
Using whichever version is most recent. I just used Curse Client to update from _NPCScan - checked my Addons directory however and there's no _NPCScan there. Is there any way to disable that notification? I don't really want any notifications while I'm in combat. Also, would it be possible to make it so once I dismiss a notification for a mob, I don't get it again? Kinda annoying to get notifications every two minutes (literally) in Suramar for mobs I have no intention of killing and it'd be quite inconvenient to have to add exceptions manually for each mob I don't want to kill.
I'll add an option for whether or not to notify if an NPC is detected in combat; that seems reasonable. The default interval between detections for the same NPC is 10 minutes, configurable up to 60. If you're seeing the same NPC being alerted every 2 minutes, that setting has been changed. Look at Detection->Interval. There's a slider from 0.5 to 60, with an editbox underneath which should say 10.
Hmm, I hadn't changed it but was still getting notified more often than 10 minutes - could changing area have reset the timer? I've set it to 60 min for now as a 'quick fix', hopefully that should do :)
In combat, the raid marker icon for the targeting button acts as a close button. Targeting buttons which don't have a raid marker icon - those spawned from a map vignette that haven't been updated with unit data - show a light blue normal close button when combat begins.
This is actually a limitation imposed by Blizzard, else I'd have right-click to dismiss work per usual.
Dammit blizzard! :P Well thank you for the reply Torhal! It seems I'm not the only one who missed this, perhaps adding it to the addon info page... though plenty of people don't read that >.>
Overlay doesn't work in new version NPCScan on both maps. Are you sure that I should delete _NPCScan.Overlay?
The only thin that should be deleted is _NPCScan - _NPCScan.Overlay is a standalone AddOn. If it isn't working, then I need to look at that (probably during its complete rewrite).
I have been grinding rare mobs for achievements, pets, mounts and so forth now since wotlk came out with them :3
It was an amazing help for the bloody rare and frost bitten ones.
Its been awesome for the ones since then
But mostly its been a god send for the rares in MOP.
I farmed "gonna need a bigger bag" achiv and without this addon to scream at me when I was alt tabbed to other account, watching movies, or even other games I could have never finished that. Or if I did I would have gone actually insane.
This addon has made farming the rares on timeless isle and the other locations in MOP so incredibly easy. No more staring at your screen afraid it will spawn. And even if you do by chance miss it <on the toilet> you'll at least know it spawned and someone killed it when you get back =D
So thank you thank you 10000 thank yous for this addon that is so insanely useful!
First I love the addon and have been using it since BC I believe. I have only one thing that seems to never have been added in or can't seems to find how. I want it to pick up old rares or ones that are grey to you, without having to cursor over them. It might just be the azeroth and non-achievement rares, but I dunno...I'm a rare nut. >.>
Tnx in advance and again keep up being awesome with the mod. =^.^=
The only way to detect pre-MoP rares is either via mouseover or nameplates. To use nameplates, you need to open the Game Menu (escape key), then turn on Interface->Names->Always Show Nameplates - this will show a nameplate for everything, unfortunately, but without this the only way to detect the old-world rares is either via mouseover or setting up the NPCScan Targeting Macro under Game Menu->Key Bindings and continuously spamming that while you move around.
Did filters from _NPCScan work with overlay, or did I imagine that? I had my filters set up to just track the Pandaria mobs I still needed toys from but now the only way to get any of the mob paths to show up is to select 'always show all paths'. Either the new filters don't mesh with the overlay, or I'm setting them up wrong. :(
I'll have to look into it; this is completely different code from what _NPCScan was, so it's entirely possible that I broke an integration when I threw it away and started over.

You just need to delete _NPCScan.

How do you move the popup?
Hey! I'm not getting any notifications in Legion anymore. Any recommendations? OR should I just delete the addon and reinstall?
You need to add these two npc in geodomo
* Xariona 50061
* Blood Seeker 3868

As long as theres a way even if its roundabout way, I can play with it to get it to my liking. Thanks much for the quick reply.
