If you're looking to replace FuBar with a LDB display (or two), make sure to check out the Data Broker category on WoWInterface. Many common FuBar addons (like LocationFu) have already been recreated for LDB.
Also, if you're looking to replace FuBar, I highly recommend Fortress+eePanels. You can very easily setup Fortress blocks to mimic the (left, center, right) positions of a FuBar, and then eePanels can be used very easily create a background bar panel (with whatever texture you like).
JostleFrame:SetScript("OnUpdate", function(this, elapsed)
local now = GetTime()
if now - start >= 3 then
fullyInitted = true
for k,v in pairs(blizzardFramesData) do
blizzardFramesData[k] = nil
this:SetScript("OnUpdate", function(this, elapsed)
if GetTime() >= nextTime then
Every so often I'll get this when I try to right-click on a blank space of FuBar to open it's options:
[2008/11/04 18:58:18-4-x3]: LibRockConfig-1.0-90396:783: bad argument #1 to 'pairs' (table expected, got nil)
LibRockConfig-1.0-90396:783: in function `OpenConfigMenu'
FuBar-3.0.90003\FuBar_Panel.lua:1044: in function `OpenMenu'
FuBar-3.0.90003\FuBar_Panel.lua:69: in function <Interface\AddOns\FuBar\FuBar_Panel.lua:67>
Bin1 stretched across screen.
Bin2 placed roughly in the center of Bin1.
Bin3 placed on the right of Bin1, flip y-axis so it grows to the left.
It is user OCD imho. Nothing wrong with ButtonBin / Fortress as a replacement to FuBar. They are more powerful in a lot of ways. And if you want the player frame / map moved down use DummyBar. Offer void where prohibited.
Fortress can make a custom bar of icons or text; once got it to save to default profile instead of per character out of the box copied that across all characters for the "playing around with it" process then maybe save further customization back to the individual character names, of course, I do not mind the spaces where an addon loaded on one is not on another just to keep the consistency not breaking up the default.
ButtonBin is not a comparable replacement for FuBar, IMO. With only 5 bins supported (last time I checked) you cannot mimic a typical 2 bar layout of FuBar, as you're one bin short. In addition to that, it's much more akin to Titain in that you can't freely move modules around, as they arrange in a bin in the order you drop them there, so you have to shuffle your modules whenever you get a new one to get it where you want. And finally, a bin cannot contain both icon-only and icon+text displays, as that setting is bin-wide.
I'm using Fortress, and find it a better alternative, but it's still not FuBar. Moving modules around requires a bit more work that FuBar, as modules will not automatically insert themselves between existing modules, so you have to break apart your group and then snap it back together (though this is easier than ButtonBin). As well, Fortress lacks the ability to have resizeable blank space, so you need to use an additional addon like KGPanels or eePanels to create a background for you bar that stretches across the screen (if that's what you're looking for).
Don't get me wrong, I love Fortress, but an Ace3 remake of FuBar using LDB would be wonderful.
