Is there any way to change the mod to let it attach to a specific bar on a specific side, regardless if the bar is attached to the top or bottom or free floating. I'm trying to make a free floating UI surrounded by a top and bottom fubar but since they're not attacked to the sides of the screen FuXPFu throws errors, I can make it look right if I attach to top then detach, it looks right but throws the errors when I relog.
For one, update your FuBar. You are way out of date.
Weird I use the PowerShell auto updater, not sure if it's just not pulling the right newest version off the SVN or if that version # there is wrong... I'll delete my install and reinstall a new clean version.
I've never experienced errors with FuXPFu on a detached bar. Make sure you set the option for which side of detached FuBars to attach the XP/rep bar to... I think by default it's unset, which may be the cause of your errors.
The only similar option I see seems to be related to which bar to attach it to, the top one or the bottom one, nothing to set which detached bar to attach it to. That odd version # on my fubar is kinda worrying me since I can't figure out where it is coming from, wondering if one of my addons has fubar as an embed, and that one is out of date...
The option is here:
Right-click the FuBar plugin > Properties > Undocked Position ("Selects which side of an undocked panel you want the bars on.") > Top or Bottom
I verified when seerah pointed out the fubar version that I did indeed have the latest one and I did. I went ahead and deleted my install and reinstalled the latest again anyway, and it still says the old version in the error report mod, so I have no idea where that version is coming from.
As far as the other thing, I have that option set to bottom.
In addition I've tried using Vista's search file contents for the offending version in both the Program Files (x86) WoW folder and the Virtual Store WoW folder and have been unsuccessful in locating the bad version string, tho as heavy as Vista favors index searching I'm not 100% sure it's actually scanning the file contents as neither location is indexed, so I'm going to download a file content scanner and try that later...
I'm not going to go moving 4+GB of files around when that's not the problem, not sure why it's saying that version number but it's not, the only fubar that exists on my computer is the latest, it's either my error addon reporting the wrong # or something in fubar reporting wrong #.
My issue is with FuXPFu and it not displaying the XP bar if I use detached/free floating FuBars. If I attach either bar to the top or bottom of the screen it works fine. If I detach both FuBars then FuXPFu throws an error but still works until I relog, in which case it errors right away and never appears.
You have an old FuBar somewhere on your system that's getting loaded into WoW and causing errors. FuXPFu works perfectly fine for myself and others. I have used a docked fubar and a free-floating fubar, with fuxpfu attached to the free-floating one in the past (past meaning, not atm, but with a version of fubar that was released after the version recorded in your error).
Vista is a PITA when it comes to Addons and WoW. If you are not willing to move your WoW folder and update your addons again to see if it fixes the issue, then there is nothing else we can do for you.
The fubar version thing was my addon that reports errors, had a stale version, had to remove it's config file from WTF to clear that up. The FuXPFu problem was a fubar.lua config problem in my WTF folder as well.
Under Vista, files inside the Program Files directory cannot always be written to (I'm not clear on the specifics, as I haven't "upgraded" from XP), so the saved variables in WTF are not always correctly updated. That's why it was suggested that you move your WoW directory out of Program Files. If you're moving it on the same drive/partition, it shouldn't take more than a few seconds anyway, since it isn't actually moving the physical data on the disk.
