I think it'd be much easier for users if the addons wrangled/displayed by DS were listed something like Fortress, instead of a drop down menu. I don't know about general consensus, but it just seems more efficient or "natural" (i can't think of the phrase i want to use, it's bugging me >.>).
Also, didn't someone create a "Jostle" replacement? That'd work rather nicely with this.
I don't think I understand this part. Currently when dragging a plugin it's strata layer is changed to the highest possible then restored to its original when the dragging stops. Could you maybe explain what's occurring in a different way?
Actually I was not thinking about the plugins themselves but the panels, the idea being :
- when the panels are locked, they lies in a quite low frame strata (say "LOW") so frames in higher stratas (e.g. unit frames) are rendered above them and catch the mouse events. This way, in normal operation mode, the panels do not mask more useful frames.
- when the panels are unlocked, they are moved to a higher strata (say "DIALOG ") so they become a bit more visible and easier to drag.
I just discovered this display and I really like it. I had been using Fortress as a pseudo-fubar, but your display makes it even better.
The only thing I miss from fortress is an option to make plugins a fixed width on a per-plugin basis. I use picoFPS, and the constantly changing numbers make my bar move back and forth a lot. I set it to a fixed width in fortress in order to get it to stop shifting the rest of the linked DOs. It's not a big deal, but it would be appreciated! :D
In the meantime, you could move picoFPS to the end of the section it's on (like, to the right of the left side), or create a separate panel to hold it, and just line the two up to look like one panel.

This is a great addon. Why is it that when I dock to Bottom of the screen, I can't get it really flush to the bottom? I'd like it if there was a "handle" sticking out of the bar so i can push it down farther - doesn't seem to be any adjustment for that. Or maybe some type of vertical offset so I can adjust the bar down farther to the bottom.
In addition, regarding the "bar height" adjustment....that seems to act like more of a "scale" adjustment instead.
I haven't tried v0.1.2 yet, but with v0.1.1 I had a 'gap' of about 1px between the edge of my screen and the pannel, when docked to the top.
Is there any way to move a pannel offscreen for a few pixel to prevent this?
It seems the latest version (0.2beta) does not display the centered plugins. Moreover it seems to have difficulties to remember plugin order on secondary panels.
I don't have any centered plugins, nor do I have any secondary panels. Yet the latest version found on WoWI seems to have problems remembering that half my plugins are enabled. Every time I log back into game (but seemingly not after a /reloadui) I have to go to the DS prefs and disable/enable one of the "missing" plugins, and then everything that was missing is shown again.

Not a replacement. Just an interface for Jostle.
Seerah: That's what I did for now. :)
Lastrite: I mentioned that I used to use Fortress which also had it; I was merely offering it as a suggestion for DockingStation.

Aye, I agree. Splendid additions, mate. =)

Version 0.1.2 Beta (01/19/2009)
- Changed the minimum value allowed for Panel Background Inset from 0 to -1 to help with the "gap" problem
