I was excited when I saw the opening sentence in this thread -- "Fortress is a FuBar-alternative based on the LibDataBroker library from tekkub; and with FuBar2Broker it can handle the FuBar-plugins too." However, after actually trying it, I have to say Fortress is not a FuBar alternative. :(
I have limited free time, and I'm lazy, and I'm not the only one who wants a bar display for LDB, so I post here in hopes that someone with abundant free time and an in-depth knowledge of Lua programming and the WoW API will read and go "you know, I was thinking about that, but I wasn't sure if there was any point" and code it for me. :P
its a FuBar alternative in a sense, this one doenst have a bar.
Really though - couldn't this addon support something like StickyFrames so you can stick the little bits together.
ATM the out of box experience is all the frames stacked on top of each other in the middle of the screen. Since they dont have any default layout, this makes sense, but it looks funny. Perhaps you can arrange them so you can see them all, maybe top to bottom to avoid any confusion with being a bar mod.
You know, maybe it's just me, but there's only ONE person that can make you happy Phanx.
Write your own display, make it do exactly what you want. That's the whole point of the move to LDB you know...
There is a reason Fubar is so popular, and it was that it did most things right as a info/stat/plugin addon. And I think that what many want is a alternative that works the same way.
Me as a user don't expect any special treatments from addon authors and I never demand anything. But it doesn't hinder me from trying to give my opinion on what I think is a good addon or ideas to improve it.
If nobody writes a new Fubar alternative, well then I'm ok with that. I use the Ace2 "hacked" Fubar, as the newer version was the last addon I had using Rock and I didn't want a single addon using a full framework (now unsupported).

I can't agree - I think Fortress is an alternative of FuBar, but it's a block-type alternative just like StatBlockCore.
Whether or not Fortress/SBC is a Fubar alternative or not is not the point. The point is that there is another way off arranging LDB components that is not supported by Fort/SBC and that some users like myself and Phanx would prefer. Sure, we could write it ourselves (actually I'm not sure I could), but we're just expressing our desire to see if one of the great coders on this boards would pick it up. I posted in the suggestions forum since I figured this was neither Fortress nor SBC and there is no LDB thread yet ;-)
posting here because there is no Broker_* Thread: you don't use embeds.xml for the other libs (i.e. not LibDataBroker) in the modules so if you update with WAU the framexml.log shits itself with error messages :P

That was my problem too, so I made this Fortress topic :P
Grab a block, stick them together, move up and then unstick with Ctrl... I couldn't find any other solution yet.
Ah, thankies. I was trying to figure that one out myself the other day. Even if I like the bar look more, I was going to give this and SBC a real try but got hung up trying to move MoneyFu.

You can stick them together already. Just drag them near each other and watch them go. Hold Ctrl to un-stick them afterward.

Sorry for the off topic.

Yeah, i just caught that, and I was coming to post a mia-culpa.

Could this thread be moved to the new DataBroker forum section?
You is slow.
