Pretty simple, I think LDB has come to the point that we don't need to advertise display addons on the addon pages anymore. I think it's placing unnecessary bias on displays making it harder for new displays to come through, also keeping a list of updated displays on every addon page is somewhat taedious.
we've thought of dividing it up into separate cats for displays/plugins, but it's already a sub-sub-sub-category.... Maybe I'll bring it up again if we get more displays up there (not sure how many there are, tbh)
Some sort of tagging for LDB displays would be useful for users, especially for new ones.
But I agree, as LDB plugins are display-independent, there should be no advertising.

Yes. I suspect that's where most people get the LDB display. They install. Wonder why it doesn't "show up". Go complain on the comments. Random person answers: "You need an LDB Display. I use Foo." User downloads Foo.
I'm not sure I would just leave it at "Use a display addon." Maybe a page on the wowace wiki or wowwiki that has the master list of LDB providers and the corresponding link to the author's preferred release site?
That way the author/helpful poster can just paste the URL to the wiki page url into their description/comment and hey-presto no unintentional display advertising.
I think having addon sites assign a separate category to LDB display addons versus LDB plugins would be helpful, because then plugin authors could link to the category list and say "you need one of these".

Ya know, I don't think there are THAT many items in those subcategories.
Still, it would be nice if there were a better distinction as to which ones were display addons. OK, so I'm fine and happy with Fortress right now. I like trying new things. Tek's wiki page that he just linked was the first time I'd even heard of Wraith, though I thought I was aware of most of the display mods.
How about if each display author does what Cargor did, and put (Display) in their file's name? This was another idea that I had tossed out there when talking about this a while ago...
If there was a wiki or other web page, or a link to a category including just LDB displays, I'd be more than happy to advertise that. Until then, my users will absolutely need help finding a display addon (most likely Broker2FuBar).

I just write an article about LDB-displays in my "Addon of the Week" series - but it's in Hungarian, and my English isn't good enough to fully translate it :-\
More than adequate for me.
