I have CC4 set to only check for release versions of add-ons from Curse. I come to wowace for specific add-ons that I want to use alpha or beta versions of. When I click on the 4.0 install (for example, this one from the BigWigs r6848: http://www.wowace.com/addons/big-wigs/files/10228-r6848/big-wigs-r6848.ccip), I get the download showing in Firefox, CC4 flashes, but the alphas don't actually install. Am I doing something wrong?
I just had a user file a bug report for SavedInstances through the Curse Client. That's very cool. :)
I'm curious, if I make a comment or ask a question in the ticket, is the user going to be notified by email that there's a new comment against their ticket (by default)? Or would they have to manually subscribe to the ticket? Automatic would be my preference, otherwise how would I communicate with my user?
Is it possible for any comments against a user's ticket to be relayed or mentioned or linked to or something in a Curse Client message when the user next fires it up?
I used the client to update some addons today and I noticed that nothing gets loaded if I click the Changelog button. The Description button also brings up an empty page. Is this a known bug or temporary error? Thought I might ask before filing a bug report.
OK, I am going to be returning to WoW in the near future and I have decided to get my UI files updated. I attempted to download CC 4 however it seems that CC 4 uses some bits of .NET that either does not have an Mono equivalent (I am using Linux with the most recent stable Mono build installed from the Debian/Ubuntu repos) or it's some proprietary part of .NET that cannot be reversed engineered (and added to Mono) due to legal restrictions.
The CC4 installer was attempting to download ".NET Framework Client Profile" of which it seems to be required for CC and I suspect there is not Mono equivalent. The installer was looking for "DotNetFx35ClientSetup.exe"
There was some noise a few months back about some work on a version of CC that is Linux friendly. I personally don't care if it's based/written using C#/.NET as long as it uses code that can be covered by Mono. I just would like a working updater that can pull from Curse/CurseForge/WoWAce as I tend to test new projects (like DXE).
Unfortunately, we're stuck with CCv3 - Mono does not support much of the current .NET, including WPF which CCv4 was developed around.
Grr, I really wish that the idea of using QT had born fruit instead of this proprietary Microsoft crap (WPF and .NET 3.5). Sure, I know the WPF widgets look great on a Windows system but it makes Linux users look like second class citizens. Too bad there is not money and time to guild a QT/GTK based version for the 'nix users.
The v3 version of the client can be used in mono. If you're non premium you'll need the ie6 pack for mono. Not sure of it's exact name.
Ugh, I won't let IE6 (in any form) anywhere near my system. Since I am not premium, I guess I will not be updating from Curse except for those mods who only live on Curse (mostly mods still in alpha/beta states). IE6 (even on Linux) is just too insecure for my taste. I will not open up attack vectors just so I can easily update AddOns.

Just an update to say that the problem has gone. Not sure what happened.
Currently, if you ask CC to install an addon that has a required dependency, the dependency is also installed. Does anyone know: if a user has an addon installed already in the Client, and a new release of the addon adds a new required dependency, will CC install the dependency automatically when it updates the addon?
Heh, was just on the official forums, and noticed that Blizzard poster "Mikepl" includes this comment as part of his stock response to authenticator issues:
Also, if you're using any third party programs that automatically download addons(e.g. Curse Client), please remove them. They are notorious for spreading keyloggers. Another common cause of this is visiting phishing websites that require you to login using your Wow account information.
Maybe a bit disingenuous to call out CC on this, but oh well.

That's guide you to a specialized place to get some assistance.
