Don't feel left out, it's extremely slow/unresponsive compared to v3 and deletes addons when they fail to update. They're working on the latter issue though.
v4 often takes 10-30 seconds to start responding to clicks if I've left it open for a while without interacting with it (e.g. letting it run for 30+ min in the background while I'm playing WoW).
It also takes several times as long to start up. I accidentally launched v3 the other day and was surprised that it came up nearly instantly by comparison.
It also takes a long time to shut down after I tell it to exit, which is something that v3 didn't do but v2 did. Actually v4 feels a LOT like v2 in terms of responsiveness (just without a lot of the UI design annoyances of v2 such as popups in the lower-right corner of the screen), which I feel is a step backwards because v3 didn't have these problems.
Not sure about where the changelog for the windows version is. The option is under the advanced tab iirc. If the UI is extremely unresponsive it could be graphics card or ram contention.
I'm using Windows 7 (release candidate). The new application paradigm is to discourage use of the system tray. Applications are supposed to hide in their taskbar icon when minimised (just like Mac applications in Snow Leopard), the system tray is no longer the place for this.
Any chance we can get an option to not use the system tray at all? Or detect Windows 7 and just not show one at all on this OS?
As an aside, I've noticed that the Status column cannot be resized but when everything is "Up to Date" the default size introduces a tonne of white space.
I really like the "verbose" splash/loading screen, now I just need some addon developers to submit some changes so I can actually see this baby in action. :)
As for the performance problems previously reported, I'm really only noticing a slowdown when I resize the window. Scrolling is responsive and application start/exit times are satisfactory (on my quad-core beast).
After briefly trying v4 I found the following problem:
* Activation of C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Start Menu\Programs\Gaming\World of Warcraft\Curse Client 4.appref-ms| resulted in exception. Following failure messages were detected:
+ Access to the path 'C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Start Menu\Programs\Gaming\World of Warcraft\Curse Client 4.appref-ms' is denied.
The issue is - as expected - that the app is now installed via the .net functionality. This is the same as what happened to the old WowAce updater, the moment it used that installation instead of a sane one, it started getting weird.
For me the problem is that obviously I have to install it under the Admin account. But then I can't run it under a user account since it refuses to load it's files, since I cannot choose where to install the app.
I realize this is microsoft's fault for creating such a questionable app framework, but I don't see what v3's installer did so wrong that it had to be replaced. :(
I find it slow in the following situations:
slow to start
when I move the frame or resize it, it happen that the I see the classic windows border and the inside frame is completely white for a few (or more) seconds
when I search a new addon when I type the name it can be quite slow
I'm runing Vista64 on the following spec pc:
core2 duo E8500 (3.16GHz)
4Gb of ram
NVidia 9800GTx
all driver are up to date.
Hey guys, please make sure you put all feedback bugs in the tracker for the project. You can do this from within the app. There is a small bug button in the bottom left.

MS really thought it through. It serves a purpose, you may not fully understand what that is - but that doesnt mean its not a good solution.
One major plus to using click once vs the v3 installer is that it has a fully integrated update system that'd be fairly hard for us to brick in development. Especially when compared to v3's.
I can echo the complain that not being able to pick the install location sucks. I have specific applications in specific locations to facilitate backups and system restores. Most sensible programs provide an option to not use install defaults.
I can also confirm it takes an awful long time to load. I thought it died because I launched it and nothing happened for a minute. Mebbe it was just a first time thing, but at least a loading screen or something would be nice?
I like that it seems to know when addons not available on Curse are updated on WoWI. I dunno how you pulled that off but it's pretty cool :). Saves me having to check my e-mail for update notices.
Not sure I'm keen on the L&F though, compared to v3. It needs a lot more vertical space in a world where widescreen is commonplace. I end up having to maximize it but then there's a ton of dead space on the right side of my screen. Mebbe moving the bottom bar to the right side with a list of info might be better, and an option for single spacing over the doubled height listings. It feels off.
Some visual feedback regarding the uploading of the Profiler data collected would be nice. At the moment I have no idea (in CC4) if or when this occurs. Also, I just noticed that I can't manually ask for this to happen. Under what circumstances is this automatic? Do I have to have CC4 open _before_ I start WoW and _after_ I close it?
I happened to actually read the splash screen today. I got a little concerned when I saw the first line: "Windows Firewall". I went and checked and sure enough the Curse Client now has an exemption in the firewall settings.
As I understand it, the Windows Firewall only concerns itself with inbound traffic that wasn't initiated by a local application. Can I ask: why do we need an inbound exemption for CC4? Is there some sort of push-notification on addon updates? If so, then why do we have a Refresh button?
Is it for AddonSync? I suppose linking CC4 across multiple computers directly would save you bandwidth and server storage. If it is indeed for AddonSync, would it be possible to not establish the exemption if we have the feature disabled?

@gagou In what ways is it slow/unresponsive?

Is there a changelog or tester information somewhere that I should be keeping an eye on?

Mmm... this would be delicious.
NeT: I hate IM clients but I can probably hop on IRC sometime if that works. I need to play around with the software rendering option first though.
