This is the main reason I've been telling my friends -- even the programmers -- to not run disembedded. I run that way, and over the last week I've been bitten dozens of times by .pkgmeta libraries simply being ignored by CC. I know enough to find the name and install the library, but the fact that CC is silently dropping dependencies is reason enough to not run disembedded if you aren't already doing so.
I was running disembbedded for profiling reasons but upgrading from 3.2 was no fun.
It does not really do a good job on dependencies. Some addons changed their meta information by adding new libs, but they were not installed while doing the update.
Another glitch is that Cc does detect updates from wowace projects, but if they project is missing a curse page, it cannot download the respective lib, but will complain about updates.
Lastly i switched from disembedded -> full. I would have expected the client to remove all unneeded libs (those marked as mandatory) as they would be shipped with the full version, but again nothing changed.
I have a suggestion for the new client. It would be really nice to be able to see at a glance what the Install Type is. Either with row colouring, or perhaps an optional column showing what it's set to.
At the moment, if I want to find all the addons that are set to Alpha, I have to right-click on each one, one-by-one.
Already created a ticket but I wanted to mention here as well that there's a serious issue in CC4 in which addons are deleted if CC fails to update them for some reason. It's become quite cumbersome to use because I often have to tell it to update an addon a half dozen times before it stops failing, and I have to watch it like a hawk to make sure it doesn't give up and delete the addon.
Hi, I was asked to install the beta client after having some problems with the old client.
I have noticed that addons which are not on curse are being shown as updated (i.e. "LightHeaded"), while others are not ("UrbanAchiever"). To my surprise when I clicked to visit the LightHeaded website I was brought to WowInterface.com.
Does this mean that I will be able to update addons from i.e. wowinterface via the curse client in the future?
We don't have intentions to update addons from other sites. However, in both the mac and pc v4 client we will be able to display when those addons are updated for you. This will in turn open up the page on the other sites so you can download them manually.
This is pretty much the limit of what we can ethically do to help our users.

Is the beta client available for download and testing?

Is there any reason why premium members do not have access to early client previews?
Obviously, it would be something they opted to install or even use, but i think it would be a great "feature" to add to the premium accounts.
Wouldn't mind beta testing it. I'm sure others wouldn't too.
Apart from the 'hey i pay for this - doesn't work' comments you can read on the trouble tickets.
You can always ask Kaelten for the link to the latest alpha build :)
Indeed i could :) Cheers

How is that done? did wowi give you guy access to their web api for that? Or are you using the same methods as minion does?

I'd reckon via some sort of RSS feed.
I've spoken with Dolby over there about it and he knows that if he has any concerns or issues that he can come to me.
I think it is an invite only at this point.
