the good old WAU, with a few clicks here, and a couple of clicks there, could do exactly this, and not mess up ANY addons, maybe there's something to be learned there ....
oh well, back to manually updating everything every few days :/
If your addons are already setup for using nolibs, just use it's alternate download or ... what ever the name is now. (Like the good people have mentioned.) Just be careful of addons that have libs that can't be exteralizrd and what not. I thought you meant "is there a way for CC to convert my addons from embedded to disembedded?" xD Sorreh /swt
There's normally absolutely no need to update EVERYTHING every few days. I haven't touched most of my addons in 2 months. (There haven't been that many significant changes)
In the age of WAU, i ran everything dis-embedded, but a hard drive crash, and the death of WAU means i run with *standard* addons, and i'm trying to get back to what i had :)
The new Curse Client works pretty much exactly like WAU did for disembedded with the caveat that if an addon's author has no idea how to use the .pkgmeta file, the resultant nolib version will be FUBAR - which is not a reflection on the usefulness of the client itself.
The other issue with the CC that didn't exist with WAU is you can't easily switch back to embedded from disembedded. Kaelten has said that this is being worked on for a later version.
EDIT: To get what you're wanting in CC, click "Manage Games" on the left panel. Then, under "Addon Installation Options", choose "Alternate" for "External Preference".
Wow !!, i'm quite impressed how much the CC has been updated, and improved, its a worthy updater in all ways now (even tho it managed to find one out of date addon)
@Torhal - once these are set, do i need to "re-install" the addon via the CC to get the no-libs version, or something even easier ??
Apparently I have an addon called "cLayout" and it's out of date. Eventhough I've never ever even seen nor installed that addon. Now, if I delete it, will it delete the addon that it thinks is cLayout?
Edit. (It did) I just noticed the "Installation Folders" part, but... LazyAFK != cLayout, doh. :s
Edit2. How do I make CC realize that the addon folder LazyAFK is an addon called LazyAFK, not cLayout? Deleting & installing again via Client doesn't help.
(Talking just about the principle really, I don't expect to have a need to update that addon ever, but what if that happened to be some other addon that actually was in development..)
Just a note of encouragement - I really like the new Curse Client and would consider subscribing down the road if development continues.
/Seconded tbh ...... however /que dramatic music and thunder etc etc
I have a small number of addons that are not found on Curse, is there a way to manually key in the info for them, or is that maybe some up-coming feature ??
Apart from that, very impressed with the latest build, keep up the good work >-)
No, and I doubt this will happen unless the other sites and Curse get together and agree to use a common system. Otherwise, this is the same as WAU - one-stop-only installation.
For addons on WoWInterface: I set those as favorites and then set up an RSS feed in my browser that tells me when those have been updated, and grab them manually. There is also an option on the site itself to check your favorites if you don't want to bother with RSS.
I don't currently have ARL installed (I got tired of the number of recipes that had their learned level wrong) since I deleted all my addon's to go from lib to nolib.
Now you see, this is where the CC falls over on itself.

The problem being tackled by the client is much more complicated than WAU. The comparison really isn't fair.... _at all_. And trust me I've learned more than anyone from WAU.

Cheers :)
Dump it all, and install everything via the client.

Still here with 2.1.1.15 RC1 and external preference set to alternate.
This is the easiest way by far, and lets you clear out some unused addons while you're at it.
